No way that kill on you makes sense. trades are 85; you have 154 on cap. purples stack is less than 300, which at worst means he could fail the kill, and more than likely loose a massive amount of troops, best case (which he got) he lost 160 troops (give or take) for a 4 set... You can actually pause the video when the kill happens and see purples view, he has 69's on his other caps. White has 280 is on his cap... So from purples point of view, white cap easily cap run...or just wipe the board... and purple knows this... 100% collaboration.

The biggest threat to an open mind, in my very humble opinion, is ignorance. Especially the willful kind, if we were to break ignorance down further. There was a radio host who I listened to every now & again 20+ years ago who repeatedly made that statement regarding civilization’s progress, and, thanks to heavily reading philosophy at the time lol, it stuck with me. Over the next two decades, I came up with a list of other possible obstacles/hindrances and became an ardent observer. The news, magazines & newspapers, books, blog posts, podcasts, work (sales) meetings, work sites (traveling retail sales), family and friend gatherings, and looots of debates on my social media pages… ignorance came out as the strongest and most frequent reason for closed minds and societal blockage. There’s the meme that says something to the effect of: People throughout history posited it was a lack of information, and access to it, that led to society’s problems, but the superhighway Information Age has proven that theory wrong. What a shame.
@FreePete
@FreePete 2 ай бұрын
When I was a kid it was easy to understand how it would make sense for a oppressive system to censor and restrict the flow of information. Now it seems to have pretty much flipped and all that needs to occur is to inundate the average person with so much information that it's impossible to find a coherent context amid the din. It took me until my 30s to figure out where I really fit in my time and place. Until we start discussing society's problems as design based and attempting to solve them on a design level they will persist. I don't know that it's up to any one person's ignorance, willfull or otherwise but rather taking a systems approach. If we could solve x or y problem, how would we go about doing that?
@jeffryglenn7024
@jeffryglenn7024 2 ай бұрын
An open is curious mind which leads to an informed mind. If your mind is made up, you're closed off to new information and inevitably uninformed. With the massive amount of information at our fingertips today, ignorance is defacto willful. For example: the Little Ice Age ended in 1850. What does that explain about UN climate models? Yet man caused climate change is "settled science" (oxymoron) for globalist fearmongers. BTW... even Einstein got quantum mechanics wrong. Because he couldn't square it with his theories.

@@FreePetelove that approach! One of the best books I’ve ever read on design is Donald Norman’s “The Design of Everyday Things”. An updated edition came out a few years ago. It was something of a paradigm-shifting book for me that was required reading for a website development college course. Norman is a pioneer in cognitive psychology and then cognitive engineering, and the father of UX design. It’s not the users of a system that are usually at fault, it’s an absence of intuitiveness baked into designed objects and systems by the creators. Might be a book squarely in your wheelhouse. 👍🏻👍🏻

Rolling the 3v1 at the start was almost definitely incorrect since you had 17 territories and were almost guaranteed to get 6 troops which would have guaranteed you turn 2 west africa if you kept the 3 right there. I will continue to watch the game now, hopefully it develops into a great one :) Edit: You got good dice so didn't matter :D

I love when pete goes "this game stalemates" and then proceeds to try to make it stalemate by cap stacking
@FreePete
@FreePete 2 ай бұрын
It isn't up to any player to make it stalemate or not. It seems to be up to the strong players not killing the weak players. Once caps are over about 200 there is no real profitable kills unless there is a player who is so massively strong they should have won already so at that point cap stacking isn't causing the stalemate. It's already been caused. At that point it's what playing to win looks like

Risk Ethical Questions: Is it O.K. to not confirm if: 1. You join a game, you find out it has bots, and it starts immediately, before you can leave? 2. You join a game that indicates the number of players required. But, the host starts the game with less than the indicated number. Both of these situations happened to recently. I was surprised, but I confirmed and played the game. Next time I am thinking of simply not confirming.

Everybody is commenting that not setting on 4 was what cost Pete the game. And yes, while a mistake by itself, I think the bigger mistake and the one that cost him the game, was not finishing off white. Or at least not continuing to solely focus on and hammer white. Pete had white on the ropes and then out of nowhere, in the middle of a turn attacking white, detoured and plowed into purple? That really confused the hell out of me cuz now Petes at war with 2 players, one of whom was huge, rather than stay good with purple until white was resolved, or weakened to the point of irrelevance.

Not every "system of belief" is lazy. There are those who weigh evidence on other sides and make a decision based off that evidence. We are locked into languages that at some point forbid the invention of new thought. Believing in a system of belief because it is most plausible based on history geography, science and philosophy is not lazy at all. One might argue that lack of a system of belief and existing on the whim of arguments one might randomly come across, based on location and circle of friends, is lazy.
@FreePete
@FreePete 2 ай бұрын
Not trying to be semantic here but I would call weighing evidence on other sides to be how I define a system of belief so I don't think we disagree.

This is such a minor thing and I don’t think it actually matters here, but I’ve seen a lot of grandmasters go from “3v1 is bad I won’t roll it” to “ah fuck it, 3v1 works most of the time” and I get the reasoning when it determines what turn you’re getting the bonus but here you were at risk of being put in a bad spot, was it the orange chirping that made you roll it for fear he does something stupid and adds behind you? I noticed you paused until he emoted

@@FreePete yeah, sorry I probably wasnt very clear with my message. I mean having a segment on twitch where you talk with viewers with a theme of philosophy. Maybe viewers who want to ask a philosophical question or discussion are in a waiting room voice com. They type their question/discussion point in specific text channel on discord. Then you pull people in one at a time and go through that topic. Hopefully that makes more sense, but I thought it would be really cool since you have a good head in the philosophical realm. Would be a cool way to connect with viewers and discover/explore different thoughts. Idk it just seems to be a good match with your theme and a different content angle/format
