I experienced both physical and mental burn out 3 years ago. It took me a year and a half to regain my strength again. Please do not overwork, let both your physical and mental health be the priority.

Hi (from London) Naoya, this video is so relevant to me right now. I felt so sluggish today, I didn't do any of the productive things I had planned to do. It's hard to not beat myself over this but like you said, we all need rest sometimes. Big fan of your channel - you have a very calm presence and I admire your consistency at posting videos even after a 12 hour work day!

Thank you for this video, it helped me a lot. I relate to the things you said, sometimes we really just need to relax mentally so we can go back to working, studying, etc. I'm very stressed these days because next month I'll have the most important exam of my life and I've been studying for it basically the whole year, but I'm still not confident, the competition is huge. I can't get myself to foucus right now because I'm so stressed. Even if I try to rest physically, like sleeping, I still can't go back to normal because it's not my body that's tired, it's my mind. Maybe I should try some therapeutic activities.

It must be tough when your mind is tired. Give yourself enough rest. I think all of that you're going through right now has a meaning. Wishing you success in your exam!

What do I do? I don't😅 but my body shuts off, it's like an unwarranted sleep, (which is a funny thing because I can't sleep otherwise on my will). I look like my soul got sucked out of my body, so my body does the favour of just putting me to sleep for like 30 minutes but then when I'm up, I feel refreshed to some extent and if I have time I also engage in extra self care where in I isolate myself from people and exist without doing anything, even zoning out helps sometimes. Side note:- I hope you realise that you're doing well and that you deserve to take a break whenever you wish to, meaning you don't have to post when you're feeling drained, we will understand. Giving your body the rest it deserves is important especially after 12 hour work. So please, eat well and rest well too. We'll be here cheering for you. Thank you for today's video ✨

You worked 12 hours, no wonder you want to leave your job.

From my personal experience: 1. Good sleep is everything! 2. Never eat sweets on an empty stomach. Try to eat them only after the main meal. Do light exercise 10 minutes after a meal, don't sit. The mood will be better and more stable throughout the day.

hey, a quick question might be a bit off subject but do you think that dopamine detox helps with motivation and more consentration? Thanks.

I think so! At least, it works for me.

Ahh yes those 12 hour days being a teacher are absolutely unforgiving. I don't know too much about the Japanese educational system, but it seems kind of intense. There is a common denominator in all educational systems, though. It's the fact that nearly all of them force students to memorize material to do well on exams, and then to get into a good university, and then... what? Nobody knows why any of this is really good for you or interesting. It seems that you might be lacking purpose at the moment and desiring to find that purpose. That is a wonderful thing for you to explore and I hope you can find it! Our post-industrial world focuses so much on extracting the maximum amount of labor from people without really catering to their interests or goals. Practicing meaningful relaxation is great. Progressive muscle relaxation is a good exercise. There is also a lot of good research on sighing as well. You seem very inclined to think philosophically about things. Perhaps, too, maybe you might enjoy reading books related to your questions/interests. Nobody ever learned how to read for pleasure when they were in school, but it too can be rather relaxing.

I haven't read a book for a while now. It's a relaxing activity for sure. I'll pick it back up. Thanks. The part about educational systems, I totally agree. I don't get the point of studying for exams when it's irrelevant to one's interests. To make things worse, students get praised when they just stay quiet and keep doing what they've been told by adults.

@@NaoyafromJapan250Ah yes, the joy of education is lost when teaching is nothing more than taking tests. I teach at colleges and universities now. I focus on having fun discussion, activities, and opportunities to really think critically. It should be fun to learn. I don't do tests at all, as I think they are pointless. It's so much fun to learn things that enhance our skills and develop our passions. I've learned so much in my life simply because I found some passion for it. Unlike you, I have a very weak ego. I appear confident at work and when I teach, but at the end of the day I'm delicate and sensitive. My self-confidence is so low that I never do worry about what others think of me 😅 I like to hear from you because you are so different. And I suppose I am a bit jealous of all the outstanding qualities you have as well. I bet you will thrive once you find your calling!

Dude Im recovering from sickness and I haven't been productive for days, I'm so tired and idk what to do either. I hope we both get through this fast. Im sure you have it worse than me, don't binge eat sweet things too much broski. Try to lessen your food intake everyday no matter how painful it is, force yourself to lay in bed and don't go to the kitchen. What I'm doing right now is letting myself be sluggish, I don't care about what other people think about my progress anymore. I just wanna live however I want to, even though it's still stressful. Maybe try to go to a sports competition? Young athletes make me envious and I get the drive to work hard. Hehe. Sorry, this might not help. You can get through this my dear.
