He’s totally entitled to his opinion but what people don’t realise and what he doesn’t realise is that a lot of people base their opinions off of his. He needs to not be such a dick about people just because they’re more famous than him or more popular. He doesn’t have the same charm that he used to, to get away with it.

Noel and Liam are lunkheads, really. I don't know why anyone would care about their opinions. Oasis got by on recycled British Invasion riffs and a healthy dollop of attitude. They're vastly overrated. Gen X just won't shut up about them because it reminds them of their joyously misspent youth. There was great stuff coming out of Britain in the 90s. Britpop wasn't it.

Oasis played 2 gigs in 2 days with 125,000 people at each in 1997. To compare Oasis with Nirvana is dumb, they both recorded and released 3 studio albums that made huge impacts on the music industry for different reasons, either for good or bad. they completely took over the world musically and i love them both

I think it's partly a Brit/American thing. Americans appreciate Pet Sounds more than Brits do. I've heard Americans say Pet Sounds is better than anything the Beatles ever did and... no, can't agree. Revolver is a _much_ more interesting LP than Pet Sounds. But I'm not saying I'm right, I think you have to be American to "get it".

He makes a great point: people ask him what he thinks about an artist, and of course they want him to say that they are “amazing”. But he doesn’t have to think that. And he doesn’t have to say that. When Pete Townsend said he didn’t like Led Zeppelin’s music people lost their minds. Who cares if Pete or Noel like or dislike an artist?

@@TheMasterCylinder agreed. They're not even in the same universe. RS has wrote countless amazing songs and enormous catalog speaks for itself. Oasis never wrote anything that wasn't a retread of something another group already did better. He's lucky they came out in an era when labels were gobbling up any "alternative" band they could find. This guy should count his blessings every day that he's not a janitor or factory worker. His fame does not reflect his talent, or lack there of.

@@TheMasterCylinder Good god their not even comparable commercially or talentwise. RS has survived decades, some of his best work was with the Siouxie and the Banshees. I was in the states when The Cure were the second highest grossing band in the world, only Bon Jovi made more. Oasis could never reach out that far. Best thing about Mad Bob was that he doesn't crave attention or need to be in the publics face to promote himself or the band. That says a lot.

@@blahblah606 Frankly Britpop in general wasn't very good. It borrowed so much from the past it didn't do anything new. There were _way_ more interesting things going on in Britain at the time than half-arsed retreads of British Invasion / 70s hard rock and AOR.
@rdrrr

@@Clem_Fandango11 You can always tell which bands were _really_ good by how many musicians cite them as an influence. You would not have Echo & The Bunnymen, The Psychedelic Furs, The Sisters of Mercy, The Mission, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Cranes, The Smashing Pumpkins or The xx without The Cure, to mention just a few. I can't imagine The Damned would have put out The Black Album, Strawberries or Phantasmagoria (all excellent, by the way) without the influence of The Cure either. Can you think of any bands worth mentioning that cite Oasis as an influence? Frankly, if your idea of inspiration is the brothers Gallagher, you're probably playing for twenty quid a night in your local pub.

Noels a great song writer. As a guitarist he is'nt that special sure he can strum chords so can most guitarists but his electric guitar soloing is very easy and very basic. But still keeping things simple is not always a bad thing and Oasis proved it. They had a sound just like acdc has a sound and its a sound that worked and sold lots of albums. His song writing is without doubt his strongest skill.
