It could be. I'm sure there is a ship signal flag that could be used by a woman to signal the distress they're in. And if their SO is smart, they'll have hot coco and a hot water bottle ready when they see those flags.

My husband and I are trying to get pregnant. So it’s extra emotional around that time of month. There are a lot of tears when my period shows up. Toss on all the wonderful extras (like cramps, mood swings, cystic acne, and migraines) and I can honestly say that the universe is cruel, and I feel justified in eating an entire bag of crunchy Cheetos.

@inmyworldkindagirl6 жыл бұрын
The stress and pressure may contribute to not getting pregnant. I've talked to a lot of women who've said that when they stopped 'trying' and just had fun having sex with their partner, that that was when they finally got pregnant. You can also ask your doctor to run some tests for you both to see if there isn't another underlying condition contributing to infertility. Also, don't give up! For lots of people, it takes months and sometimes years to get pregnant! Point is, if it happens, it happens, but just have fun doing it and take care of your body and your mind; it can only help
@dianethornhill36516 жыл бұрын
Erin Denardo what the other person said about relaxing and having fun. My hubby and I tried for 3 years with the temperature taking, etc. We just gave up and were thinking about adoption and about 6 months later, boom! We were pregnant! I’ve been there, it’s hard not to let it consume your life and relationship. Hang in there. Hugs.

Sv Vr: News Flash - if you aren't a fertility expert don't try to explain troubles conceiving to someone who is experiencing it. Original Poster knows about healthy eating and stress factors and is dealing with it how they can. Your comments don't help and can make the person feel worse. Fertility is a complex thing and occasional junk food is not going to affect it (with the exception of someone who is diabetic). Stress isn't as much a factor as the world thinks unless you already have another factor contributing to it. Please be kinder in the future.

PMS is a blessing for women, it is the one time in the month when we are not afraid to say what we think and we see the world around ourselves clearly. We are good at organizing and evaluating our work properly with no pink glasses on. Of course, if you never express your feelings and just keep everything inside of you, well, PMS is the time when everything explodes. Taking better care of ourselves during the whole month is the key. And also giving yourself a permission to not feel your best. We don't have to be dying to take an hour to ourselves!

@@theMaraudersrock Have your doctors ever discussed if Metformin may be an option for you?
@kdelka815 жыл бұрын
@@theMaraudersrock Metformin helps with insulin resistance. So it lowers your insulin levels. I'd at least look into it. I had PCOS for 15 years before even hearing about Metformin. It took me being in nursing school to look into it, ask about it and get on it. I was pretty angry that I could have had a treatment for years, but my doctor always downplayed my irregularity. She didn't even fully believe me when I told her I HAD pcos. I had a cystoscopy and my urologist found the PCOS during the surgery. She looked doubtful as I told her this, so she did an ultrasound and said, oh yeah, it's really bad. 🙄 I was like, no kidding. I've been telling you for 15 years I only get my period 2-4 times a year. I went on it and then got my period every 28 days on the dot. Which is extremely important since I have endometriosis. Cramps are now very minimal , whereas they were severe, vomit inducing cramps before. Metformin has changed lots of things. Huge downside. A very common side effect is intestinal cramping and diarrhea which taking the extended length pill can help. That side effect went away after a while, though. I wouldn't say it's for everyone. But it's at least worth mentioning to a doctor. It's classified as an anti diabetic agent, because of how it works on insulin. So I always have to tell new doctors, no, I don't have diabetes. I take it for PCOS.

Great vlog! All the things that you talked about are all so true! I always felt sorry for my family @ this time of year. They had to put up with so much. It stole a good part of my life. My PMS & period , a brutal time of the month. My hubby used to tell our son, “just leave Mom alone.” Nothing helped except a total hysterectomy.
@lindsey96506 жыл бұрын
3:00 - “severe” sometimes even isn’t enough to describe the pain. Curling up in a ball and screaming and crying in pain used to be enough to get through it. But then came the vomiting. Then the fevers. Then the syncope episodes and fainting spells. On time while I was on my period I was in the shower when I started getting really bad cramping and I fully passed out. It was one the scariest things that has ever happened to me, and my poor my and dad we’re terrified. What if I had been at the top of the stairs? What if I had been driving? Now I sometimes have to spend most of my 14 day menstrual cycle in the hospital hooked up to fluids and pain medication. And believe it or not the absolute worst part of it all... there are still people who don’t believe it’s “that bad”. “It’s just a period! Every girl gets them”. I’ve even had doctors belittle me saying things like “I know it’s not fun, but it’s just the way life is!” or “yup that’s good old Mother Nature for you!”. It’s unbelievably frustrating. So please, the next time your friend is a bit moody, or complaining of cramps, just offer your support and give them space. There’s no need for your comments about what you think about my body. (P.S. I’ve used Clue for a few years now and I couldn’t recommend it more. It’s amazing to have a log of every period, with every symptom, and everything else I felt during that cycle. Being able to say “hey did *insert symptom* happen last time I had a period?” and then being able to go back and see is amazing. Thank you Clue, you make that time of the month a little more bearable)

Yes! We should celebrate our cycle instead of fearing it! I read something about the beginning of our cycle (first week after period) is kind of like the waxing moon. It's the best time to start new projects. The middle is like the full moon, we ovulate and our energy is at its peak. Then there's the week before our period, the waning moon, which is the best time to finish any unfinished projects we have lying around. The week of our period, the new moon, is a time to retreat and reflect, the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one. It's a good time to reflect on what you've done the past month, and to decide what you want to work on next cycle.

TAKE A MAGNESIUM SUPPLEMENT. 2-3X the recommended daily value. EVERY DAY divided into two doses. Chelated or angstrom, b/c they are the best absorbed and won't freak out your bowels. Watch both your physical and mental symptoms (AND THIS WORKS FOR PERIMENOPAUSE SYMPTOMS, TOO) either completely disappear, or become much easier to live with. Eating healthy will go a long way, too. I'm 48 - take my word for it!!
@terryestepp26155 жыл бұрын
400mg -1400mg is the safe range for magnesium. Minerals, although essential, are all about balance therefore you don't want to megadose with minerals...such as we do with water soluable vitamins like Vitamin C. Magnesium is an electrolyte ...meaning it can carry electrical signals from the brain to heart and to other muscles . Magnesium does so much in the body( including relaxing muscles). It's hard to get enough in the typical diet and it is also easily depleted.

Imagine standing apart (as in out of body experience) from yourself as you are screaming at someone and saying to yourself "shut up! shut up! SHUT UP! and you just keep screaming. I was out of control. I eventually has a total hysterectomy and I swear they also did a lobotomy too because I have been sooooo calm since then. It's hard to get a rise out of me these days. Thank you Mayim... I suffer from PMDD and even though that is so much rugher i still wanna consider what you said. It is difficult to get through the worst days sometimes. But I was blessed with a partner who knows about my condition and is incredibly understanding of it...

Got 3 minutes in and I’m crying and it’s not cause of pms haha. All during high school and such I would get the worst cramps, they were so bad that I fear them even now as an adult. But I was always told by those closest to me (mainly women) “pms/periods aren’t that bad, stop overreacting, just continue on with the day like a ‘normal person’ “ Kinda feels good to have someone I’ve come to respect and such, acknowledge that women can go though hell. Thank you, even if you or anyone else never read this. Thank you.

Mayim! Thanks for this! I have a chronic digestive illness which is aggravated by the shifts on hormones in my hormonal cycle. The physical part is awful and the emotional part is worse! Thanks for always talking about things that are sometimes super embarrassing to talk about!

So I'm a trans guy who gets a period and let me tell you!!!!!!! PMS comes with cramps, headaches, intense dysphoria, and really bad depression! It's such a physical pain that it can knock me out for the first 3 days. I also have chronic pain so it's just a bundle of fun.

First day of my period yesterday. I went for a group run, and one of the guys told me to keep up the good work as I left. I sobbed half the way home, straight to my cats, Call the Midwife (which always makes me cry) and a tub of ice cream. I got this thing sussed.

I love you, Mayim. I skip most of my periods via the Nuvaring and had to bite the bullet this month. You are wonderful and I'm eatin' some parme rosa that I cooked before this awful happening. Thank you for always validating and being medically and emotionally available.

Every cycle is a surprise for me. Duration differs between 20-90 days, looks absolutely different in colour in texture every time. Clue helped me to link my headaches to the period. PMS is either three days of calm serial killer mode for me or serene buddhist mode.

This video is awesome, thanks so much! Personally, I have the problem that the hormones mostly affect me *after* the period. My psyche is so bad then, and I feel horrible. You can find nearly nothing about this, no matter where you look at. It makes me feel that I am kinda not normal :( Mayim, you encourage us to talk freely about our bodies. There should be no taboo.

Hahahah You hit every point I wish people would get it through their heads!! I get every single symptom!! I use those oils too!! I warn everyone nicely when I have PMS.
