Thanks. I have a similar issue, but my membrane contacts came completely off. How was the availability for parts online? I hope I don't have to dispose and acquire a whole new dryer because of this...

I can't say I really pursued looking for the individual parts to rebuild the control panel - just the replacement itself. The number of people who seem to have experienced some form of this seems significant. I suspect the part has been redesigned, and if you can find a replacement based off of the fix, it may resolve the issue, but I haven't seen anyone confirm this yet. Here's another post I made with a link to a (potentially) improved model, if you want to pursue it, tho I can't say for sure it'll be a fix for our issue. 🤷♂️. " I am wondering if this part has been updated to a new model (to correct this particular fault, perhaps?) which may be why it is difficult to locate. According to this link ( www.maytagreplacementparts.com/PartDetail/1067193 ) part 22004444 appears to be compatible with the dryer as well. Perhaps the seller could confirm? If you do pursue and it works, I would love to know as well! So after replacing the board itself, the chirping still happened. I clipped a wire to the chirper itself, should that have any negative affects other than not making a sound when buttons are pressed
@mslivkoffАй бұрын
That’s an interesting idea - do you have a picture or description of how to identify the wire to the chirper for others who’d like to attempt your solution? Thanks!

Having similar issues with the same unit, except none of the buttons on the pad respond. The trouble shooting guide (supplied in the unit) seemed to suggest the board was no good, so I got one from eBay, which had a different problem. (got a refund) Ordered another board and buttons don't respond either. (but everything lights up) Not sure how the touch pad wears out if I never use anything besides the stop / start.

Interesting. The control panel I installed in this video worked for a while, but then also began exhibiting issues similar to the previous one. I gather there is a design flaw in the manufacturing process for these. From further research, it seems the plastic panel begins to delaminate from the circuits behind the buttons, creating the shorting-buttons. A couple of ideas: 1) One guy on the web (can't find the link) suggested some success with applying a heat gun carefully to the front of the button panel, and carefully rubbing it with one hand to try and restore the adhesions, and mitigating the delamination. 2) I see an alternate manufacturer appears to have created a replacement board that I'd assume addresses the issue: www.ebay.com/itm/285261697751?itmmeta=01J00JHDZ84CX426DEQZ149XYQ&hash=item426aec12d7:g:0joAAOSwE8ll09p7&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4LbL3JxG2FyP3eivthEh0n1RYkA6gmQUYjptFuP1VOsc84cE7SdRD885K1JgWA1JR4%2FohYeNadDaoCjU2w2PF6s5OhFlxm0OqGDsnti96xhBbu5jHTXhXqTe%2BqA0gNAhLZudAOl4de6nF23HM%2BZArhfn2OLq8qMzQ6TklB5c93jip7prIkYLXGmRQSetpNikuwLyRdrs3c4jw9LdFabTfdRbwzJ1QvEwXD6l1ag4d8TFdbyLHDaDDC3i1E0IFPdXv4yDHNt4PxnC4pGFWbo1%2BLM%2BMxiL6WoxZmQG6WF56cu2%7Ctkp%3ABFBM6t_FkoBk I haven't tried either (yet), so if you do, or if you find another solution or clue, would love to hear what you discover.

@@mslivkoff I have toyed with the idea of buying one but as I see it, my touchpad seems to function. IOW, after several replacement boards (all warranty) I got a few where the buttons did something but not what I wanted them to do. All of the lights also work. The problem seems intermittent. In "sensor dry" the clothes dry but the timer readout is wacky... and still reads 50 minutes until it shuts off. If I do nothing, about 10 minutes later the timer comes back on and reads 65 minutes. (does not restart the machine) If I use "time dry" it does dry the clothes and shut off but doesn't count down in a linear fashion to zero. 10 minutes later the display lights up again. From there I can't always restart another load, so I power down (breaker off) and wait 10 minutes. Last but not least, I followed the mfgr's instructions to get into diagnostic mode and there's no response. These board are all "tested" but I suspect they are not powered up long enough to see all of the quirks. BTW, I did see a company that will rebuild your board for a fee so might look into that.
@mslivkoff5 ай бұрын
@@rupe53thank you for your reply - that is a good set of data-points to support the faulty manufacturing theory. So far, I have just continued making do as you have. If I find the link to the process for the ‘use a heat gun to restore the delamination’ - I may give that a try, but I think it is likely I’ll end up switching dryers before that happens. 🤷♂️
@rupe535 ай бұрын
@@mslivkoff Not sure I would call it faulty manufacturing, as it is 20 years old. I suspect these "used and tested boards" are salvaged from trade-in units but not allowed to be powered up long enough to spot troubles. On the touchpad, any attempt to heat and peal it up will result in damage to the layers of the membrane. IOW, if you see no signs of distortion or bubbles from the front, then heating it will not cure anything. Yes, they can wear out but also consider how many times you have hit that start button over the years... and that's probably not worn out, so why would any of the others be worn?

My Model is showing 8.8 on the display? Any idea what that means and how to fix it… is there a reset button somewhere?
@mslivkoff2 ай бұрын
I haven't dealt with that error. Here's what I found on Google: "8.8 is a universal code for all Neptune washer and dryers which means your display control board has an internal short. You can try to flip the breaker off or unplug the unit for 5 minutes to see if the electronics will reset." Link here: www.justanswer.com/appliance/j1xuc-default-code-8-8-maytag-neptune-model-neptune-age.html If the rest doesn't work, looks like a control board swap might be required.
