Only that you can't go past so many psi without changing pistons. And I would put a lot larger radiator in it like a old four core out of a chevy or ford truck. It's not a bad idea anyways this thing came factory with insufficient cooling.

I'm having an issue where my engine will intermittently bog down when returning to idle. I haven't really dug into it, but A) could fouling inside the control valve be causing it, and B) do you know of anywhere I would be able to source the single-wire idle switch that's operated by the throttle cable hand?

Great video I have a b2600 that I'm fixing on my channel just doing things as needed, my iac has been surging at idle I'm hoping just cleaning it will fix the problem, to buy a new one is outragous or even a used one.

Sometimes you can Fixum sometimes you can't and it's not always just cleaning sometimes the servo goes out

@@WorldScienceTV ya that's what I'm kinda thinking is what has happened because it s fine when you first start it, then after 10 15 mins of running then it starts searching for a idle, like the heat is starting to make the electrical portion break down. Thanks for the video

Had a leak around the throttlebody once that caused the IAC to freak out. I only have one spare for this vehicle I keep a box with every single part for the control system because half my friends drive the same truck makes it easier to diagnose coming with a box of parts.

@@WorldScienceTV I have not inspected the ECU yet it's been replaced in t he past with a new one, I'm gonna check the data if I can and see if anything is askew. I'll check around my throttle body with some propane because it does sound like unmeterd air is getting past the mass air flow Thanks for the tips really apreciate ut

I did a lot of work on my idle air controller then promptly lost the little grommet on the end of a idle shaft inside. At minute 2:56 (at 4:39 he removes it) it shows the grommet on the end of the shaft. I hang my head in shame... Do not loose that grommet. I swept the floor 5 times looking for it. Don't know where to buy one except for a junkyard ($150 donation to the stupid bucket and a spare IAC now without that grommet). The 1/4 inch (metric) coolant lines can crud up, mine were blocked with rust. Clean them out to let the coolant flow again. 1/8 inch drill bit to ream it out, no drill) Before you go to all the trouble of taking this IAC apart, give your vehicle a tune up. The biggest problem with mine was the spark plug gap. You could have slid two nickels in the spark plug gap. After I fixed that the engine ran decently. I had to fix the computer too. There are a couple videos on youtube that show how if you know your way around electronics, a soldering iron, and a magnifying glass. I started experimenting: The syptom of a bad idle air controller is the engine speeding up and slowing down (idle surging). Unhook the three wire connector and see if it stops surging. No, you don't just cut the wires, the engine will act/run very differently without these wires connected. It provides that annoying compression slow down thing the engine does that we all love. Aah Mazda. Do not break the gaskets!!!

Should the gas sealed chamber move in and out ? The inside part moves but outer one is solid. Not moving

Hello, I have just taken mine apart.. and it flung open and springs flew out.. not sure if the plastic piece also fell out.. what does that piece look like? Can I send you a photo of all the pieces I found?

if i was to come to your truck i wold start with fuel flow and pressure after the filter this truck will run down to 24lbs but needs 35-40 lbs for correct operations. anything lower than 20lbs will cause problems. after that i would look at the mass air flow sensor and the throttle position sensor. truly i would check the (computer first). then i would look for vacuum leeks. there is one leek that they all have is on the black box on top of the valve cover (O'rings). i have ran into where the wrong injectors where put in. open the computer and look for corrosion around the capacitors

So when I caress the accelerator, maybe 1/20 or less throttle the truck bogs and seems as if its misfiring something heinous. It's never died completely while doing this although it will die sometimes in traffic after I push the clutch in and come off the gas, seems as when the ac is on its more likely to die. Any ideas?

Hi man thank you for all those videos you made they are very usefulI ,need some opinions on what I could do, so couple months ago I finished Putting my truck back together I decided turn the speed idle screw and now the truck won’t even start , it does crank and sometimes it does start but it only lasts 5 to 10 seconds and then it shuts off, also if I give it gas it would shut off immediately, if you can give me some opinions I would really appreciate it, The truck was starting before I decided to turn the screw for the speed idle

More than likely that’s just a coincidence see if you can keep it running with starting fluid there is a chance that your fuel pump or fuel pump relay may have failed first off check your fuel make sure you have fuel this sounds like a fuel delivery issue if you find that you have fuel then check spark make sure that your distributor pick up or module isn’t getting too hot and failing this can be checked with a timing light holding the trigger down while somebody’s turning the engine over and look for spark The “light to flash”. If both of these look good then proceed to ignition switch and computer and electrical connections. There’s a few plugs by the battery that fail.

I cleaned my throttle body out and IAC, once put back together. Idles up and down cant seem to figure out why, wasn’t so bad before cleaning

There is still something in the coolant passage or the thermal spring has failed. but the problem is the IAC or the coolant feed going to it. Open the return line and check flow coming out of it. if you pull the thermal springs with a spanner wrench count the turns and tap a chisel mark before removal. i did have one once that wouldn't come back but i have had success on many. if you need you can send picks to my Facebook or Instagram. back feed coolant lines with air and maybe just needs to be bleed of air.

I known this is an older video but does anybody know what size the springs are in this idle air controller (b2600 2.6)? Specifically the one that deeper inside the controller.

These are not normal springs these are thermal springs your best at finding another idle air control you will not be able to match the thermal load of the springs

1991 Mazda b2600i starts but runs really rough at idle bogs down and misfires when steady throttle unless it’s higher rpm then smooths out. Ecu seemed fine misfires really bad and doesn’t like to stay running but can definitely force it too

There’s no way of knowing if the ECU has truly failed or not without replacing it or finding somebody else with the same truck that will allow you to swap the ecu just to check. You have to put a timing light on the coil wire or each one of the spark plug wires to see if the misfire is from the spark side or if it’s not and you don’t see any misfires then it’ll be the injection site and that’ll confirm your computer problem

Hey man got the truck running smooth just cleaned the mass airflow and ecu up real good and truck runs like a top! But now the front passenger wheel is sticking so I replaced the caliper and pads! And it was still sticking so I pulled the outer spline lock off and it turned fine with it off but put it back on and it’s sticking again what would be the cause of that?

You might be stuck in four-wheel-drive on your Difflock. Was there any play in your wheel bearing. Did you replace the caliper and frame and made sure the slides from the caliper to the frame move freely as well as the pistons the caliper. The axle lock is on the driver side which means the passenger side will still be moving more parts in the differential. If you can find hubs off an 87-88 Mazda you can free up all the tension from the differential to the wheels. You might have to inspect your pinion gears.

Yes bought a whole caliper assembly slides are good and I definitely gonna try the older hubs hopefully that will fix my problem thanks for all your help man!!

I replace fuel injectors now the truck is running roughly could be the iac? Since is the only part(throttle body) I move to get the injectors help please

Another guy just dealt with the same issue how did the wire plug connectors to the injectors look were they corroded at all or were the pins on the injectors corroded. I doubt the Iac went out just by touching it you may have a vacuum leak. As I told everybody though make sure your computer works first

I've recently bought a 1987 b2600i, I was wondering if you could give me a reference for a place to find parts specific to this build. its 4x4 5 speed manual carbeurated, no computers or anything and im pretty sure the person who had it before me tore out a bunch of the engine bay to sell for parts because its basically a bunch of air with a functioning engine in it. thx

It all depends on what you need for it. The (i) means fuel injected in B2600i and that didn’t happen till 89 so leave that out in your searches. Almost all running gear parts will swap between both models. The engines are different you have what’s called a dodge astron series’s engine 2.6L model G54b or 4g54 made by dodge from around 79-89 the later model 2.6L was made by Mazda and model is G6. The two engines have the same displacement and firing order. The g54b doesn’t get the best gas mileage and if you want it to run smooth then a metered carburetor is required. A Weber 32-36 will barely run this engine and requires a Weber 38 to run correctly jetting both is required. Mapping out a Toyota 22r 4x4 only carburetor will run smoother than anything and best mileage but has a lack of top end.

Awesome video - I have a 92 b2600 2wd. I just replaced the water pump.when I started the truck it stared idling rough then smoothed out and started surging. Everything looks good except a small (6 inch) hose on top off the engine. It travels from main air intake hose to the top of the valve cover. what else should I look for. Also what should I clean the iac with?

The iac can fail in two different ways The problem is in the coolant passages gets plugged with debris or grease. The other problem is that the servo motor fails and stops working

World Science TV so I replaced the iac and it still surging, what’s next? Also this maybe a stupid question, when I change the water pump. Could I have messed up timing? My model has the belt that runs from crank to the fan. The water pump has 4 bolts and 2 nuts. (Apparently There’s 2 different 92b2600i models)

I noticed in your video you had the Idle Stop Switch(Throttle Full Close Switch) removed from the IAC. I did this and my truck won't idle just starts and immediately. I looked in my books to see how to adjust this Idle Stop Switch and it says messing with this throws off factory settings and you need to replace whole Throttle Assembly if you mess with it? Is this true? After cleaning the IAC in the video did you install that in a truck? If you did and everything was fine. Any idea why mine is starting and immediately dies. Everything was fine til I did this cleaning... Ugh. Any help would be great. Thank you for all your videos I watch them often.

Sounds like what happens when the mass airflow sensor is unplugged or not working do you have the air filter hooked up

@@WorldScienceTV Yes I just double checked its plugged in and checked the voltage. Seems to be a little off from the book. My readings are: Power Supply on MASS is 12.22 Volts, Burn Off wire 0.07 Volts or 70 millivolts, Air Flow Mass wire 0.82 Volts, and both ground wires are about 0.1 volts. I checked the wire at ecu to make sure they are they same readings. I really don't see how this can just change voltage so I assume it was the same numbers before I took apart. I never unplugged it since it went from running to now just starting and stalling. It does feel like its choking. When I reinstalled the Throttle Body I set the throttle plate to my lowest feeler gauge(0.001 inch). Maybe its to small of a opening? Anyway thanks for your help. Anymore suggestions? I will check and do whatever. I even replaced the ECU with the old one I had from awhile ago just to see if the readings were different. They were the same with both ecu's, starting and stalling exactly the same. Thanks

There is a ground strap behind the iac and I’m wondering if the servo on the iac is operational. But if you can’t force it to stay running then those probably won’t be the problem

@@WorldScienceTV You are a genius. I just decided to replace the MASS based on your suggestion. Truck runs again and very well. I am not sure how messing with the Throttle body damaged the MASS but it did. So lesson learned. Thanks for your advice. Couldn't have done it with out you. Best Regards
