I really enjoyed my 91' b2600i reg cab. Took it to Germany too. Brand new on the autobahn. Being very light with the bigger 4x4 engine, I was able to hold 115 miles an hour, all day. Germans loved the look of the thing.

I probably need to rebuild or replace the engine on my '90 B2600i 4x4, it was a "turdkicker" for the last two owners so they didn't care how hard they ran it. The chassis seems good and I finally got everything in the front and rear end fixed...then my caty was stolen, and I have to have an expensive one where I live. The engine has well over 200K, doesn't leak but it burns oil significantly, more than 2 quarts between changes. If I can't find a replacement on JDM market, I might look into a K24 swap😅

Excellent information! Thank you for your knowledge on these trucks! I just bought a 93 2wd and it has been great so far besides a leaking fuel filler neck and a good bit of HLA chatter. Hopefully I get these fixed soon! Thanks again!

Absolutely love my '92 B2600i. We have put over 250,000 miles on it, with hardly any issues. Still has the original clutch. It has been driven across the country and hauled items well in excess of it's capacity with out hesitation. Everything from a 2,200lbm Bridgeport milling machine, to pallets of bricks, and towed stump grinders, ditch witches and utility trailers. Wish they still made small but tough trucks like these.

I love there is still an underground bunch of enthusiasts for the bravo I have a 02' 2.6 dualcab 4x4 that has 420000kms on it and going strong. I love it, it has personality no one understands.

Thanks for all the info, our problem is when it rains the truck will die when driving through a large puddle , eventually it starts back up within a minute or two running roughly and the a few more minutes it may clear out.

great video. your knowledge of this engine is amazing. i learned more than reading an entire haynes manual. came looking after my ac failed to work. pwr to relay and one side of clutch contact. clutch and compressor confirmed good. ac switch on dash lights up. suspect gnd problem at ecu. new relay did not fix problem. thanks for posting a great video

If the ac is not charged then it won’t turn on so sometimes I pull the cover off the relay and press the connection together if the ac clutch doesn’t engage then there is a power related issue

as expected aftet opening the ecm i found a burned capacitor and a reisistor preventing completing the ac relay circuit to ground. new computer best price is 210 from rock auto. will attempt component level repair on ecm board . thanks again!

The ac is isolated from the ecu the damage to the ecu is in the injection control circuit

i have no drivability issues from the burnt capacitor that i notice. is the typical issue that starts occuring with this burnt capacitor an injector issue will eventually develop? i m asuming the path to back to the ecm on a typical wiring diagram is just a signal to the ecm to increase injector pulsewidth to increase idle speed?

Yes the issue is injection pulse when the issue shows up most of the time it’s like a flooding carb syndrome. There is a moisture barrier on the board that has to be stripped off before you can start fixing the contacts and a lot of times you have to pull the resistors and diode‘s and smaller capacitors off and clean underneath them and then re-solder them down. I have a separate video on this not the best but it shows the process. I have bin able to fix all but one and I will be able to fix that one eventually one I find a transistor.

I have picked up a B2600 4 wd ute for my farm. The seller said it was sitting there for 2 years and was was great then but now its running rough. I am getting raw fuel running right through the exhaust system. Goog compression 180 on each cylinder. Clean oil no water in it. No bubbles or air pressure in the radiator. Runs on all 4 cylinders. Have pulled out the fuel rail and injectors and have applied 12 volts to each and they switch on and off and have blown air through them. When no power onto them they seal fine. I put the injectors back in and it starts and still runs rough and fuel coming out of the exhaust. If I pull the spark plugs out and crank the engine I get excessive fuel pumping out mainly on one cylinder but Ive tested the injectors seal. Have 12 volts positive at each injector when the key is on. Second terminal is not to ground there is a resistance there and equal with all 4 plugs. Being a farm ute the exhaust has been cut off behind the cab after the CC ( not sure if the exhaust sensor is still connected). Also key barrel is damaged and it started with a screwdriver into the plug that is of the back of the old switch. When I rev the engine it runs smoother but lots of white smoke. Any help appreciated.

excellent video. unfortunately the aftermarket head with the improved casting is harder to find now and doubled in price. i bought a fixer upper and learned this the hard way. your info will help me get everything on the truck back into working order, i hope!

I got my ECM fixed! My truck use to die and not start every once in awhile. I sent it to a guy in Florida that rebuilds them. It was 100 dollars. I have since learned how to recap a computer boards. If you know how to solder you can fix it.

Have a 1993 Cab Plus B-2600 with 70k miles. Bought it new and the only time it has gotten wet is when I have washed it. Stored in heated garage......should be in the Mazda Museum. I was a Mazda dealer for 25 years.

I have owned a b2600i since 2013. My fan clutch went out caused it to over heat and warp the head and blow a pin sized hole in head gasket. Symptoms included temp. gauge creeping up. Warped head/tiny hole in head gasket symptoms included shuttering first 5 seconds after starting engine after driving into town = radiator fluid getting sucked into intake and interfering with plugs spark then shuttering stopped as radiator fluid evaporated. My crank angle sensor went out twice. (no crank angle signal = no injector pulse I suspect the LED's in the optic switch malfunctioned or got dirty with oil. I also had the ECU capacitor issue/IAC problem/ and oil leak past the bolt that holds on the harmonic balancer.(Turned out I had to put sealant on the washer side of the bolt and then the oil stopped leaking. I also had the hydraulic lifter issue. I first tried cleaning the 12 grape sized lifters= did not stop taping. So I bought 12 on ebay and replaced them all = tapping went away.

thanks for your video. very informative. i have a two wheel drive 1991 b2600i. during normal driving, the check engine light will go on and the truck feels like it is misfiring. i have also been told by a mechanic that i have low compression on cylinder 3. what i am wondering about is if low compression will cause an intermittent check engine light. i have smog coming soon and i am in a bind.

You'll need to run the codes first to see if it identifies an ignition coil, pick up, igniter, low compression can cause a misfire if the spark plug is getting fouled by oil

Bought this truck with a blown head gasket and had it replaced, it's been very reliable throughout the ten years I've owned it, but it's been getting hot lately and I've replaced radiator, and cap and water pump and hoses and thermostat and also fan clutch with new coolant and after running for 15 minutes it starts climbing to high temp again, prior to replacing all parts it never over heated it just got close to the H but I immediately turned it off, it's only got to the H twice and one time it blew the old top radiator hose off. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated also how do you get air pockets out the engine after replacing all coolant parts. Your video is very educational and very well explained.

Having cold start issues with my B2600i lately. Tried changing the coolant temperature sensor with no change in behavior. Truck starts fine once its warm. I have spark and fuel pressure. Timing is right where it needs to be. Runs good once started.

The coolant temp sender and the air temp sender have the same plug make sure they're not crossed check the wire plug to the sender and the main harness plug to the fuel injectors that is all clear then the IAC needs to be checked

The B2600i is one of the few engines that sprays oil underneath the pistons at all times through pressure nozzles coming off of the oil delivery rail and when the ring and cylinder start wearing down an over abundance of oil starts making it past the piston rings and then not changing oil adequately in the B2600I motor the G6 engine code The carbon and contaminants in the oil start causing over excessive wear the cylinders the only fix for this unless you do have bad valve guide seals which it only smoke on start up and minorly smoke on running conditions is to bore the block and or re sleeve the block with new cylinders of harder metal

I have a '92 B2600i 4x4, automatic transmission. I have had some ongoing issues with the transmission, but haven't been able to find anybody with an automatic transmission to question. When putting the transmission into drive, it seems as if it's not fully sinking into gear or hung between neutral and drive causing either one of two things: it will eventually catch and go into gear, or will just shutter and stall out. It even does the same thing when I try to place it into a lower gear. If it does go into gear initially and then I make it to the next stop sign/red light, the transmission will begin to slip when taking off. However, when shifting into reverse everything is fine. I have questioned multiple people and some seem to believe it could have to do with the torque converter. I understand it's hard to pin point the exact issue, just trying to check and see if anybody has experienced something similar.

If you have any thing more than a bad solenoid then that trans is not worth the money to fix I kepped a couple of these going for years after making this video the trans went out agin. 4th auto in this truck I found a manual truck with a bad engine and body and swapped every thing over. You got a clutch pack out or a valve body problem.

Having a new issue with my B2600 lately. when I first start it I have what seems like a misfire. The engine seems like its only running on half the cylinders. After about a minute or two it goes away and it runs just fine. I have recently replaced the spark plugs, wires cap and rotor. Changed the valve lash adjusters last year. Check engine light is not on either.

I have experience this issue many times with this vehicle and I think it is a bad valve lash adjuster or a flat spot in the cam that allows the valve to be held open while starting up once the valve lash adjuster relieve some oil in the valve shuts fully and the engine idols correctly. I actually have this issue on one of my trucks right now and it only came after replacing all the valve lash adjusters and they’re all brand new and that means one of the new valve lash adjusters is bad

I'm looking for an 86-93 Mazda B-series truck but was told to steer clear of the 2600 and 2600i for all the ground wire, ECU, EFI, electric fuel pump issues, and that I'd have a much easier time working on and finding parts for the carbureted 2200 and 2000 models. Would you agree? Your video has given me a glimmer of hope for the 2600's again.

Ok. So you said if your ECM goes out you will still have spark. Can you explain in detail how that is. Please I’m having issues getting spark with my truck. From everything I’ve seen the Hall effect in the distributor sends signal to ECM then ECM determines when to fire and sends signal to the igniter Wich intern drops the ground to the coil causing spark. Correct?

So I've been driving one a 92 for about two years now.. few months ago I was idling in the driveway after work about 2 month ago waiting on my mother in-law to mover her car so I can park and it suddenly spitters and dies.. I cranked it back up and it has a rough idle.. Ever since then.. when I first crank it it cranks automatically with ZERO issues.. could be 10 mins could be 30 mins it'll develop a rough idle and wants to bog spit and sputter at take off under 2grand. But at highway speeds it runs fine.

Thanks for the information. I was looking for info about starter relay location and ran across you. 284,000 on mine and still going. However on my 4th clutch slave cylinder and it's acting up.

The only reason you would be going through a slave cylinder that much is because of debris dirt or contamination either in the brake lines themselves or master cylinder for the clutch or from external dirt driveway Road conditions is there a lot of salt sprayed on the roads around you

If you change them in the cold the seals won’t break in properly

The one that's in there now was changed in cool weather say in the 40`s but went down to the 20`s shortly after the installation. The others were put in in the summer, one on the day I was going camping in July.

I got 1992 Mazda 2600i for 100$ as my project truck. Only 149K. I have an issue - no rev, vehicle bogs down when accelerating, but it idles good, check compression (in specs as 4 cylinders), oil pressure good, ignition timing set, inline fuel pressure tested. I checked the injector pulse, resistance, checked all ignition components. The previous owner replaced distributor cap, rotor, wires, spark plugs and fuel filter. The vehicle has been sitting for 2 years. Any ideas which direction should i go? I just started troubleshooting my new project yesterday. I would like to make KZbin video and tell viewers about your channel as well. I will put link to your channel under the video. Thanks a lot) for any advice. Cheers!

I had a ecm do this before inspect the ecm. Then check to see if the catalytic converter is plugged and then check the TPS

I have a 1989 mazda b2600i, it was running good. All of sudden it stopped running. It cranks , but won't start. If it starts it will just shut off. I've replaced the fuel pump and the temperature coolant sensor, and nothing. Any advice? Thank you so much

I cleaned my throttle body and my IAC , put everything back togther and everything runs good BUT my idle will NOT go below 1100 rpm. I checked for vacuum leaks and could not find one anywhere that would cause a higher idle. Can i turn the big idle screw on the side of the throttle body to lower the idle? I did notice before i took my throttle body off the IAC would get really hot to the touch very fast after starting. It was definitly in need of cleaning. The water ports hand alot of gunk. But i cleaned eveything out it back together and now after running and driving for a few miles the iac doesnt get as hot to the touch as it did before cleaning. I also did plugs, wires rotor and distributer cap. All at the same time. Starts right up idles at 1500 then lowers to 1100 after warmed up.

mine doesnt want to start hot, 3 shops unable to diagnose why, i told the last one about the coolant temp sensor and they said they checked it and its functioning. for 30$ i am going to just replace it and see what happens...

Hi. Your video is very informative, I hoped that maybe my problem would be covered. I have a 2001 b2600i 4x4, when the engine is hot, it does not want to go beyond 1500rpm, when it gets there it limits and drops revs back down to build up again, I did put it on a computer and it said the Mass air flow meter is faulty, I bought a new one and it is still doing the same thing, I have also replaced the ignition module, the problem still persists, this only happens when the engine is hot, but when it's cold it revs and runs smoothly. Please assist with any heads-up.

I have a 1992 mazda b2600i with a 5 speed manual. I was working in it and left the radio on ended up killing the batter. I got it jumped and started a few times ended up accidentally leaving a light in the cab on and killing it again, got it started by push starting it. Didnt touch it for a week and it wouldnt start just got that click sounds from the starter. I got a new battery, batter cables, and starter and it still does that same click... any ideas? Itd be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I’ve got a 1990 5 speed 2600i starts idles fine bogs down when I try to give it gas will not take gas. Changed computer just done new head with new gaskets new head bolts new intake gaskets new exhuast gaskets cleaned maf. Truck is running very rich as well

I have Misfire on my engine. I replaced the whole throttle body with new, injectors checked, plugs changed and until now it's having a misfire. The misfire only shows when idling and no issues or anything when driving. It doesn't happen in pattern,sometimes once in a second and other times twice. Please help me with any information. The car is in middle east and no one has good idea about what it is. Thank you very much

I having trouble trying to fix my speedometer. When I’m driving my speedometer moves back and forth. An example is I’m going 50 it says I’m going 70-80 and moves to 70 to 80 back to 75. I replaced the cable that’s connected to the transmission and the cluster but it does the same thing. What do I do and how do I fix it?

i have seen road salts eat the wire harness on the frame rail. the body plug is right above the drivers side kick panel aiming down into a relay block test there

It is a vacuum dampening chamber dampened the velocity and surge of air coming through the engine to give a smoother more stable response most of Australian vehicles do not have this this was produced from 89 to 93 in the United States with this vacuum surge storage chamber

If that coolant sensor fails bad enough, it will run so rich it won't have any power and die alot, also cause idle to hang high too. I had that happen. Idle hang at 2k randomly then week later it would not start or start and no power at all (not drivable) it was way too rich from the bad temp sensor.

Always check computer first number one issue with this engine running rough. 2 valve lash adjusters not operating correctly. 3 bad injectors. aftermarket injectors are crap. 4 pour compression. Start there use a timing light and watch the flash on each spark plug wire look for misfire. Please check out my tick and rattle video

Hey mate I’ve gotten myself a 2003 b2600 manual Mazda bravo and I’m having trouble when coming to a stop the engine switches off (like I’ve turned the key back) I instantly can start it back up again without any problems. Please help? My ignition barrel is new, I’ve cleaned the mass air flow sensor and throttle body and I have checked for vacuum leaks. All seem to be ok. Apart from it turning off when the rpm drops it runs well.

Is it common for the fuel gauge to indicate being empty at only about half a tank of fuel? I'm wondering if there is a part that is most likely the issue.

coolant temp sensor.. my nemesis.. i just finished an engine swap in my '96 2wd due to coolant in oil. the swap went fine but it was running rough as guts. I overlooked the possibility of a crook temp sensor and pulled all sorts of things apart before the light bulb went off upstairs, swapped out the sensor and all was good. I had a very high idle, cold start was fine but after that no go at all. But if in a loosen and turn the dizzy fully forward and it will start. Also could not set timing, it was all over the place. It is quite unique to say that a bad temp sensor caused this myriad of symptoms. The aussie models don't seem to have those green plug end test wires, or that other 3 port behind your headlight. do you have a black diagnostics box to one side of your engine bay? Hope to more of your vids!

I would really like to get my hands on a full wireing harness and computer from the 96 so I can have better injection mapping and a obd2 diegetic port. The production of this truck stopped in the USA in 93 other county's still produced this truck for many more years like Australia.

Well the harness from the engine donor car is still there complete with only the headlight plugs removed and the computer is of no use to me..out of an '02 model.. Are u wanting just the engine bay harness or complete with dash and to rear end.?

engine donor was an '02, dash clusters are totally different, elec speed sensor, digital mileage and trip meter, p/s, a/c.. you could splice it in but ... bugga that.

Hi there sir. I have a 1990 B2600i 4X4 with a 4 speed auto. I just bought it today. I did an oil change but something happened. It has no power, runs on what im thinking is 2 cylinders. The transmission barely has park, no reverse, neutral, and second gear. The 4X4 is kind of wonky it’s ridiculous. The misfire is very bad, it refuses to move under its own power. And white smoke coming out of exhaust but it didnt have coolant in the oil so i dont suspect a headgasket look. No knocking, the engine smooths out at around 3000 rpm

Make sure the firing order is correct pull the plugs individually and make sure they’re firing check for spark. Next do a compression test should be right around 150 psi. If this transmission does not have first and reverse then it is lost a planetary gear set because first in reverse work on the same planetary. Transmission is toast at that point you can get a JDM market transmission out of Australia or Japan. The best place to find a transmission domestically is in and Nissan Xterra but the transmission will still need to be pulled apart and the output shaft of your transmission will need to be swapped with it and plus the wiring harness going into the transmission will need to be swapped with your old one as well

The reason why the transmission went out is because the viscous fan clutch is bad does not drive enough air through the radiator which overheats the transmission cooler in the bottom of the radiator overheats the transmission boils the oil in the transmission to the point where the planetary‘s are not getting oiled anymore then they shire all the teeth off.

Hi there. My '91 b2600i was running great, but became hard starting, then began losing power when accelerating, and now cranks but will not start. When the key is in the "on" position, I do not hear the fuel pump. Suspecting a fuel issue, I tried spraying starter fluid in the intake and the engine starts up fine. So I figure it's either the fuel pump, or the fuel pump relay, or possibly the ECU isn't telling the fuel pump relay to send power to the pump. I've pulled the relay and when the key is "on", I have 12 volts at the black with white stripe wire in the relay connector. Does this mean the relay is bad, or could it be the ECU? Also, I'd like to jump the pump itself to verify it is OK, how do I do that? Thanks, much appreciated!

Thank you for all your videos and knowledge you have shared. Much appreciated. I have a question on idle issues. I replaced head gasket and now when warming up the engine idles at 1,500 rpm then after a few minutes it goes to 1,800 for a while then back down to 800. It will idle at 800 at a stop sign 1 mile from home. The next time I stop is about 4 more miles, and then it idles at 1,500 for the rest of the time I am going. Some times the idle surges up and down, but most of the time it stays at 1,500 rpm. I have 3, B2600i 4x4's and a B2600i 2x2 I bought brand new in '92 and am still driving it with 348,000 mile on it. I swapped the MAF, and the water temp sensor out and no change. What are your suggestions? Thanks for the help.

I have a 89 b2600. When it’s cold it struggles to start an when it starts it doesn’t hold its revs and shuts down after a few seconds. The only way to keep it running when it cold is to play with the gas pedal. But even that sometimes doesn’t work as a keep giving it gas and the car ends up shutting down even at 70-80% throttle. When the car is warm though and has been running for 10-15 minutes it fires right up and works fine. What do you think causes this issue?? Can it be the sensor you mentioned at the begging of the video?

Does the engine tick while it runs rough and then goes a way. This engine has valve lash adjusters it doesn't open the valve all the way when there not pumped up. Are you getting any codes

Hello, My problem is with my 1991 mazda B2600i. It is that when I turn it on in the morning, it starts failing and I have to disconnect the plug mitter or the max sensor, wait for it to warm up and then connect everything again. Although it works well for me, it is consuming a lot of gasoline and burning it Raw. There is a lot of black smoke from the muffler exhaust. I will appreciate any recommendation. Thanks

Hello. Do you know what possibly is wrong when te engine only works at cyl 1 and 3? The comp is equal on every cylinder, spark plugs, rotor and distributor cap is replaced. Injectors replaced. Spark is coming to all cylinders when tested. Cyl 2 and 4 spark plugs are really wet of gas. Can it be the ECU?

It is 98% ecu pull pass kick panel pull ecu and open it if there is still a red and black capacitor in there that says rubacon and there is any discoloration or corrosion 99% problem

Got a 2003 it was bit shit to drive thro gears when brought it at 70 kilometers. Had full gear box rebuild an new clutch. Shame at thos kms but much better to drive. Had been sitting so long couple of caskets its running great for now. Motor uses no water or oil really after another 100 seems happy. Very low geared tho 1st goes nowhere. Haha few metres. Rather a hilux but shit mates got one over 300 just needed clucth n alternater

Please check your computer for corrosion this is the first thing and the base line for this trucks running correctly. The part of the ecu that fails is the side that operates the injectors.

If you changed the computer and it got worse then that ecu is bad. I just dealt with a man that had two that where bad from orylys auto parts he returned it again and everything was fixed but this has to be confirmed that the ecu works correctly first

My B2600i automatic was retrofitted by a trans shop with a manual turn a knob to select gear thereby by-passing the computer. The 1st position would start from a stop in 1st and shift automatically to 2nd originally, then intermittently would not start in 1st, and now only starts from a stop in 2nd. I read somewhere online that 1st gear is vacuum or pressure actuated?? Can you steer me where to look to repair 1st gear actuation? The selector adjustment on the side of the transmission looks correct and tight. Any ideas? Thanks

Your transmission will never work right and will blow the clutch, shims and friction plates out of it sounds like the tranny shop didn't know what they where doing. This is a electric controls transmission. I had to save a guys truck from AMCO once because there databases did not show the transmission computer and was wanting to replace the engine computer. When it was a bad wire plug going into the transmission.

thanks for this helpfful video !!! i would like a little help i got some measurement with the polumeter from the muf sensor and i would like to know if it is correct with the switch on and the engine off I got those measurements pin 1 : 0.96 v pin 2: 12.43 v pin 3: 0.07 v pin 4 : 1.55 pin 5: 0.15v pin 6 :0.15v and when i started the engine the pin 4 was 2.45 and when I press on the gas gos to 3.53 v is that correct . i also chekced and the capasitor of the ignition coil and gives me 0.818nF i have a mazda b2600i my problem is that the engine hradly will get sarted and when it does and i press on the gas and does not work properly

Sounds like computer problems. I am away from home now. Put a timing light on each spark plug wire and look at the flash first!! this will divide the system in half if you see a misfire then it is in the spark side if you don’t it is in the injection side. But there is a 80% chance you have a computer issue!!! If you are good with a soldering iron you can fix them your self. I use solder paste from classical mechanic it is used to reballing surface mount computer chips find on eBay. I may have what you ask for on my computer I will look. The data was stored on MAZDATRUCKING.com if the site is still up. I have a video of working on the computer here on KZbin I suggest checking it out

Coolant temp sender, mass air sender, o2 sender will play a part in this check for vacuum leeks this truck gets 16-18 mpg. First have you checked your computer for capacitor leakage. This is the main failure check first.

My 92 mazda B2600i 2 wheel drive starts and runs good but after driving for a bit the engine starts to sputter and sometimes backfires. If I turn the key off and back on while still rolling it will usually fix for a cpl more miles and then starts up again. It only does this after it is warmed up. Any ideas?

This is usually all on the ignition side of the system the ignition coil is most likely the problem. I am assuming at this point you have done a tune up spark plugs cap and rotor. The ignitor can be at fault to. So what I want you to do is get a timing light put it on each spark plug wire before the problem pull the trigger and watch the flash see if you have a hesitation in the flash and then do the same when the problem starts. If you see a hesitation then it is a spark problem if you don’t it is a computer problem.

Well I'll check that however I did take the air filter (sorry my terminology is not up to par) cover off and the hose that went to sensor so I could look at the sensor and i discovered that the sensor had a screen on either side of it. On the side closest to the filter, the screen (which was probably put there by the previous owner and didnt really fit correctly) had dislodged itself and was crammed on top of the sensor. I put it where I thought it was suppose to go and at first it was fine and even had more power. After a while it started again I think because the screen came out again. Not sure I have to check. If it did come loose I'm thinking maybe I'll just take it out?

I was wondering if you have ever had a problem with the 4x4. My front differential will engage and stay engaged unless I unhook the vacuum line at the solenoid. I have to manually move the actuator back to disengage the front differential.

There is a few things if there is multiple gauges reading wrong then there is a good chance there is a bad connection in the dash harness. The most common fuel level issue is the sending unit resister in the fuel tank.

I have a 1990 b2600i . It was running great until it started misfiring a lot. Changed the distributor. It ran good for a week . Now it starts whenever it wants but dies moments later. Took it to a shop again and they say it’s a bad distributor again. And a coolant temp sensor. Another mechanic couldn’t figure it out either he replace the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator and nothing. He said the timing chain is off. I don’t wanna give up on this truck it’s so nice. Please any advice

It's 99 % the computer. Take The right side kick panel off down by the floorboard plastic cover pull the computer out of the vehicle two 10 mm bolts and then unscrew the cover four Phillips screws there is two round capacitors on the computer board a red one and a black one look for any kind of corrosion whatsoever or discoloration on the board around those components if you need to you can send me pictures on my Facebook or Instagram which you can find on my channel page in the corner of my channel picture

One of the most common rough idle situations for this vehicle is valve lash adjusters not pumping up correctly usually followed by a tick and after warms up the problem gets better or worse almost immediately as the adjuster pumps up with oil. other problems are the common issues of the ECU computer failure on these vehicles which is always and should always be you’re number one point for checking first on all B2600i vehicles. the computer has to be determined to be in good operating condition before moving on to any other components. And as of the point that you’re asking questions here I am assuming that you’ve checked your spark plugs Cap rotor and wires for failure.

World Science TV it idles around 1200 but after letting sit for 5 minutes it will drop down to 900 but will come back up randomly. Also after driving for an extended period the motor will rev up to 3000 when I take it out of gear and will drop back down after 5 seconds or so and will do this multiple times

What you say does sound like a vacuum leek. Do you hear a hissing sound coming from any where. Take a can of break cleaner add the red spray tube to the nozzle. Spray around the seems of the throttle body then the plenum and then the intake manifold gasket. Usually a vacuum leak that caused significant trouble will be on the engine side of the butterfly valve.

hello i trying figure out why everytime i fill gas into b2600 make it shake almost die but keep it running like few min stop when drive and stop it act again till fuel to 1/4 it more smooth than full gas tank...

Dont know if you can help but i am now having an issue where when i start the truck when it gets blow say 60 degrees and below, the engine will high rev about 2000-2500 rpm until the engine starts to warm up. Sounds terrible like you wanna take your foot ofc the throttle and As the engine slowly warms , the idle slowly cones down to normal rpm once the engine has warmed up and then runs fine. I would think iff it was a vaccuum leak it would give more symptoms then high rev on cold start in cold temperature. If its above 60 it might start and choke alittle, maybe 1500 at tops but only for a couple seconds. Thanks for any help.

First off yes check for vacuum leaks before anything take a can of starting fluid or brake clean or something flammable has to be flammable and spray around the seams throttlebody gasket Plenum gasket intake manifold if the engine changes RPMs drastically then you found your problem usually there will be some kind of air sound Hiss. If it passes through all that then change your coolant temperature sensor. This isn’t a bad thing if it doesn’t fix the problem either the coolant temperature Sanders on these vehicles should be changed every 5 to 7 years anyways they lose their value and condensation buildup in them causes corrosion. After this or before this the throttlebody will need to be pulled off and serviced the IAC Servo may be a fault may need to just need cleaning. You will have to use vicegrips to break the screws loose before trying with the screwdriver or else you’ll strip them out. Know if you replace the throttlebody they are different from year to year I think only 92 and 93 were the same manual transmission and automatic transmission were also different. You will have to make a new gasket out of a cereal box thickness material for the IAC you cannot buy this gasket. If you were unable to find parts in the US parts are available in Australia up to 2001 and up to 2006 depending on the model of truck in Australia.

@@WorldScienceTV wow!! Thanks for the education!!! Will let ya know the outcome. I love my 1990. still getting me down the road!! Just gotta fix this issue now!! Thanks a million. So I just took my heat gun and put it on the sensor base and the block where it screws into and I let the heat gun warm that area up for a few minutes. . Started the truck and BAM!! Idle went up just a little bit 1500rpms then mmediately started coming back down!! That is most definitely the issue I am having and you pointed me directly to the cause!! Usually it will start and rev at 2000-2500 when below 50 degrees for a good minute or two then gradually come down to normal over 4-5 minutes Putting the heat gun on it and warming that sensor before starting it proved the sensor is the culprit!! Thanks again!!

Hey man thanks for your videos they are very helpful I need some opinions on what I could do, so couple months ago I finished Putting my 1990 Mazda b2600 back together and I don’t know why but I decided turn the speed idle screw and now the truck won’t even start , it does crank and sometimes it does start but it only lasts 5 to 10 seconds and then it shuts off, also if I give it gas it would shut off immediately, if you can give me some opinions I would really appreciate it, The truck was starting before I decided to turn the screw for the speed idle

I’m looking at buying a 93 2600i for 300$. Body is really good and the guy says it just needs a fuel pump, he said it just died on him when driving and had to tow it home and it wasn’t getting fuel. Is that a common issue? And if it’s not that what else could it be?? Anything would be appreciated

Bring a can of starting fluid spray it down the intake if it starts on the staring fluid then it is most likely the fuel pump. The fuel pump relay is behind the drivers side kick panel if you pull the cover off the relay you can manually operate the relay and check for power to the fuel pump there

Dude I could use your help new fuel pump filter plugs wires distributor coolant temp sender fuel pressure regulator and when it's cold or in morning no start with out starting fluid but after start runs good all day last part am thinking is fuel injection damper

The computer is not operating correctly ether the computer is bad which is very likely and would be the first place I would start. Or there is a lost connection in the wiring harness. you have changed all the vital starting components other than the throttle position sensor. Tell me more about how it starts up does it tick or run rough for a few seconds any little details help

I have a 1989 mazda b2600i 4x4. It starts at first, then after 30 or 50 minutes or being warmth up, I turn it off, but when i try to turn it on, it takes about 5 seconds, then I let it run for several minutes turn it off after and try to turn it on and it will not turn on. It'll turn on after 30 minutes and many many tries. I replaced sparkplugs, sparkplug wires, distributor cap ( not the whole distributor) what do you think is wrong with it? Like i said, It'll crank but wont turn on until like 20 or 40 minutes of tries.

The bearings go out around 200,000 miles in all of them. There is a difference in between auto and manual and generation B2600 87-88 B2600i 89-93 in the USA. From my understanding most or all the manual 5 speeds should have the same ratios. I look for automatic trucks to steel the front and rear diff's because that have a taller gear ratio and you get better fuel mileage on highway and reach higher speeds. But if you spend a lot of time off road best to stay stock. Used diffs are hard to come by in any good condition because of the cheep bearing they used. If you don't se major damage to the ring and pinyon try replacing the bearings. There are ones on craigslist from time to time. And just so you know they ran this truck in Australia till 2003-6 bravo ranger and parts are a lot more available there and you can adapt to OBD2 as well.

I need some help if you would be so helpful…. My 2600i runs and barely drives. Can get moving but horrible power. Checked computer and it looks new. No corrosion at all on the board. Changed the fuel filter and cleaned the intake with full bottle of carb cleaner. New plugs and wires and it runs alil better. But can barely get itself moving. Yes alil blue smoke on start up. It Boggs and takes a good ten-fifteen seconds for throttle response. Manual trans needs to be goosed to get it moving and floored. Can you toss me a few things to check go thru? Thank you

If your computer hasn’t been rebuilt then you have to consider it bad and that’s very first thing you need to check as find another computer and once you checked out and get that out-of-the-way then we can go other places but you were giving me the the main outcome of a bad computer in your description.
