Hey man, thank you so much for making this video! Noticed my truck ticking a little bit so I did some research on the issue and found your video. Very well explained! I did the balancer chain adjustment (literally took 10 minutes!) and the engine team quieter than I had ever heard it. The tensioner moved like 3/4" just as you described. One minor correction however, the adjustment bolt was 10mm. Thanks again! Subscribed and liked the video!

Thanks for your informative videos. Question, I have a 91 Mazda B2600i with auto transmission. I was going to change the transmission filter and pan gasket. I seem to remember doing this before and remember all the pan bolts being threaded into transmission except one had a nut on top that was a real bitch to get at. It has been awhile and I think I might be mistaken as I had a Nissan sentra that had the same issue. Can you verify that this has this or not. Also, I have a small leak from what I believe is the knockdown solenoid on the side of the tranny. Is this fairly easy to replace? Probably o ring ! I saw you video about these tranny failing if there is a blockage. I just felt like changing the fluid would be a good thing or would you just leave it alone and try and fix leak at solenoid. Its a tiny leak about the size of a quarter. Fluid color still good. Thanks in advance for your input ! Mike

I greatly appreciate you making this video! I finally got around to ordering lash adjusters for my truck. Ive had the valve cover off once to change the gasket but didn't pay much attention to the valve train. How much trouble is it to change the lash adjusters?

It is easy leave your timing chain on the sprocket and pull all the cam cap bolts and caps lift the back of the cam up and pull them out get a magnet to pull them and to keep control of them. Don't want them in an oil pan or stuck in an oil gully

Some of the lifters were not working so I got new lifters but what I noticed was some of them can be pushed half way, some fully pushed and some are solid, should I put them in oil and pinch the hole to release oil so that they are all filled with oil and solid?
@ninja4gaming263 Жыл бұрын
I want to hope it isnt oil rings but it kinda seems that way, it doesnt smoke while i drive but it does smoke upon starting, valve seals are likey worn causing that.
@ianalbrecht15604 жыл бұрын
The Hayne's says to remove the oil pan for timing cover removal. Is that really necessary? Not that I wouldn't mind dealing with another potential leak in the future, it wasn't leaking before, but I don't want to have to add that much work just for a head gasket and timing kit job. Maybe just a careful pull of the cover and rtv when replacing?
@WorldScienceTV4 жыл бұрын
Yes you do have to pull the oil pan. the sump oil pickup tube bolts onto the timing cover and the main bearing caps.

great video man hey I was wondering if you have ever pulled the engine out of a 4x4 model b2600i, i need to take the oil pan off to replace the timing cover, I keep finding info saying i need to pull the trans before pulling the engine curious if you have done it.
@WorldScienceTV2 жыл бұрын
There are brackets that bolt to the tranny that bolt to the side of the engine you’ll have to pull those off of both sides and then you’ll have to lower the front Diff to get the oil pan out. I have re-ringed these engines in place
@fixergood2 жыл бұрын
@@WorldScienceTV thanks for the reply man that's what I'm gonna do I already have a he head off I was hoping I could save time and pull the engine ,and not pull the he front diff out to get access. gonna re ring it while I'm there at this point , thanks again

FYI Mike the cylinders out the iron on these blocks were out fast and the oil delivery ports on the pistons to the oiling rings get plugged with carbon I would advise drilling more oil ports to the oiling rings
@WorldScienceTV2 жыл бұрын
Change the coolant lines to the bottom of the throttlebody IAC while you’re there. I personally bore and re-sleeve with steel sleeves on all these blocks. Some people delete the oil sprayers this engine is prone to failure from dirty oil because of the oil sprayers. But this engine will last a long time if it runs full synthetic only and no paraffinitic oils

@@WorldScienceTV thanks for all the tips I'm gonna mic the cylinder s and buy new pistons hopfully and check my rod journals and all that to do semi rebuild if its do able. thanks again man

Hi, great video, My 1991 B2600i has 145,000 miles and I can hear the balancer shaft chain mostly at idle. Tried to adjust as you described. Could only move it down 2 notches but I did not tap it, just pushed hard. The timing chain adjuster only out 4 notches. Should I have pushed harder on the balancer shaft adjuster? Surely the pivot bolt also stops movement? Thanks for your reply!
@WorldScienceTV4 жыл бұрын
You may have to check your valve lash adjusters but first make sure your oil pressure is up
@BUZBY19774 жыл бұрын
@@WorldScienceTV Thanks for prompt response. OP is good. No noise coming from top end, just a slight normal ticking that is all. Noise is from timing cover. I might need to push harder on that adjuster!
@WorldScienceTV4 жыл бұрын
If you can’t get any more out of it then it might mean that there may be broken components in the timing assembly

Hey good day, I have a question for you. I have a mazda b2600 year 2000, doesnt have alot of miles on it for its age but i am wondering if there is anything on these engines that could cause them to burn oil hard. My dad had it first when we had it it never used any oil but ever since he gave me it started to burn oil. Before he gave me he parked it for a year without driving it since then it burns oil.
@WorldScienceTV Жыл бұрын
Piston ring get stuck carbon up to the pistons and stick this engine has oil sprayers that spray underneath the pistons which put 10 times more oil in the cylinder walls to get into the combustion chamber once they start smoking they don’t stop until you pull them apart replace the piston rings and valve guid seals
@WorldScienceTV Жыл бұрын
The reason for this is running dirty oil in this truck this truck needs to run synthetic oil only no paraffin wax oils whatsoever like Pennzoil or Quaker State
@ninja4gaming263 Жыл бұрын

I tightened the balencer chain and my truck started misfiring. It has a rough/ low idle and will sometimes die around 2000rpm. What should I do?
@WorldScienceTV Жыл бұрын
If you over tightened it and you did nothing else and you were sure it happened immediately after you tightened the balancer chain then open the cover and loosen the tension a tiny bit. But!!!!!! a misfire!!!! that doesn’t sound like a balancer issue I would check to see if your cap rotor plugs and wires are all good first before messing with the balancer again you may have nicked or damaged a plug wire in the process

you can pull the belts off the engine started up briefly see if the wine goes away if the wine doesn’t go away then it’s inside the engine. You’re a few things inside the engine that could be causing the wine the oil pump the balancer and a timing chain guide being broken.

Yes these are reliable engines but they start smoking early right around 140,000 miles because people don’t change the oil enough in them or they run perifenitic oil light Pennzoil and it wears down the cylinder walls faster
