Thank you, this video was helpful! My 2022 CX-5 had its check engine light come on last night for the same code (only at 28k miles). Will be waiting until 1/31 for an appointment, so the information you provided has put me at ease.

It's amazing that you're able to talk for 26 minutes about this. Thank you.

Regulat thermostats have a cylinder filled with wax. Wax expands as coolant gets hot. this pushes the rod which forces the thermostat to open. As the coolant cools the wax cools, contracting, etc.. The thermostat assures the temperature doesn't drop below the designed setting once the engine warms up.

Didn’t I explain this?

Seriously - I spent five minutes discussing the wax actuator and how these were used in older vehicles as warmup regulators… must have cut it by accident

Ok so, if its no longer the entire coolant control valve, and only this 30$ kit , then what exact part is failing?? Im more confused than ever
@bbishoppcm3 күн бұрын
There are two failures I am aware of - the wax capsule failsafe valve, the motor driven valve, and the valve cover itself which was redesigned to solve these issues. This issue should be covered.

Does the CX-5 have an actual coolant temp gauge? I didn't see it in your videos
@bbishoppcm2 ай бұрын
Yes, but it's part of the LCD "multi-purpose" gauge, so you need to select the right display option to see it. Otherwise, the car has a blue "idiot" light that turns blue when cold, or red when overheating.

unrelated, but I had an issue where the cabin was filling with water on my car whenever it rains. I went up to the pepboys and they didn't end up billing me anything because I knew what the problem was i just didn't feel comfortable fixing it. they told me the hackjob fix of driling a hole in the frame, and i found an even hackier fix. I just got some color matching duck tape and taped over the fresh air vent, and if I need fresh air, I just open the windows. dumb problems call for dumb solutions. the car isn't worth a $1k trip to the body shop over an issue that doesn't even matter.

My Cx30 CCV failed at 10k. Temp ran very cold at blue without the code. Took 2000 miles for the p0126 to pop up even tho it was clear that the CCV had failed. Covered under warranty but the part is $500ish alone. I worry for the future cause it’s just the same part. (Edit) “Cardiax Plays”, here on KZbin has a great video that explains and shows the failed part. Check it out for sure!

This is no longer a $500 or more repair. Mazda has issued a service kit that only costs around $30 or so (so I'm told) that includes the updated housing cover, and other necessary components to rebuild the original thermostat/CCV assembly.
@roonbooks32273 күн бұрын
So what exact part is faulty?
@roonbooks3227Ай бұрын
Are you aware that the entire coolant control valve no longer needs to be changed...mazda sells a rebuild kit,thermostat and a couple other small parts to remedy this problem.
@bbishoppcmАй бұрын
I am well aware; that is what was done under warranty according to my paperwork.

I do not qualify ....mazda said only of you have engine light on and 126 code will they fix under warranty. Is there a chance that the coolant controll valve is faulty and NOT throwing a code?
