You know what? I think the Mazda RX-7 FD3S is my favorite car of choice in my life. Because i know it handles very well on the road and on the track. That's probably why it's my favorite retro Japanese sports car from the 80's and 90's.

This is a rare FD. Kneepads, tach at 6 o'clock with green backlighting, steering wheel, etc. This came from the factory that way.

Parker Rollison I helped my friend a little to do one. It is not a swiss watch. Really nice thing. But it needs this reassembly every 50 kkm.

Okay, but you did apex seals and ALL the rotating assembly bearings? and wholly cow 30K miles is really terrible if you have to re-seal the thing that often. My truck is at 231000 miles and the rear main seal only started leaking a month ago, and it's not even bad.

Parker Rollison yes, piston ones are much longer. but rotaries are so cute. so, spending a weekend for the overhaul every 30-50kmiles is not a big price for driving this. I was afraid of turboSubaru. Because they start knocking at 50kkm. But mine ej207 lasts for already 130kkm and don't tend to die. :-) And a truck - you don't rev it up to 9000rpm. ;-)

people mainly complaining about the maintenance and mpg of the B13 so they swap for an LS or JZ. However, the few owners i know say as long as you keep it maintained well, there wont be issues

Alessio Carlevaro nope, its sequential twin turbo. It has a smaller one that is pulling on lower revs and a bigger one that wakes up at higher revs.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, our opinion about the car is great, the motor on the other hand is a bit of a stinker. It's a fantastic motor that makes tons of power, but is prone to breakdown, needs constant repairs and maintenance, and if something goes wrong you have to find someone who specializes in rotary engines and the parts aren't cheap. If reliability wasn't an issue it would be one of the best motors.

25 years ... so the 93s should be ok and 94s soon; 93s would've been sold in 92, +25, 2017. Unless you get a really good deal, you'll be spending similar to what you would finding a decent one on AutoTrader ... 20k+ I'd assume. Some low mileage ones up now for around 30k. So if you want RHD, that is one thing; but if you are looking for the 99+ nose, and a color not available, better off getting one stateside and making it a project car.

RX7's have what called an Oil Metering Pump, which squirts oil into the combustion chamber to improve lubrication. That oil is then burned off and sent out the exhaust. So it's normal for the 13B to use oil in regular operation. Premixing assists this process.

i may be a minority or even the only one here, but i hardly find a single part that i like in this car, especially exterior-wise:/..except maybe some of the interior's parts, like steering wheel, seats, instrument cluster, that are quite alright and look good..and of course wheels/rims, which is not the car itself..anything else is completely out of my taste boundaries..everything's so rounded and feminine..it may drive like no other car, i don't know that, and i believe it drives impressively, but the way it looks - nope..the only rx7 i liked was gen.2, and even gen.1..and i'm not a huge fan of old cars, but i even find something interesting and attractive in all the older rx2 to 5 series cars, they were cool enough and had their own beauty bits, and in overall they looked cool, especially restored ones with newer rims..i understand their looks and they are all quite acceptable to my taste..just not this one:/..just posted a different indifferent opinion;D

I was SO disappointed when i found out what Twin Turbo actually meant when i started looking into how cars are made, back when i was playing GT1 in like 1997 or something, seeing a GTO TWIN Turbo, i was like, holy crap, why have only the power of 1 Turbo, when you can have TWO!!. i was thinking that they both were running at the same time on a certain amount of RPM causing the car to boost twice as high, not to be though, just a shitty lower one and a higher rp,m one :(

Some cars are like that. Look up parallel vs sequential turbo setups. Most big power cars these days do single turbos for the simplicity and because modern turbos are less laggy than turbos from the 80s and 90s.

I ended up running the turbos in parallel after the engine rebuild. Purely for simplicity and ease of service in the future. Difference in lag is negligible.
