Thankyou very much FULL BOOST. I have loved the FDs when they came into the market years ago and always told myself...."One Day". But at that time being a F250 4x4 owner/daily drive, Like many, one has to educate themselves on Rotary (If your brought up on V8s). This episode, not only was it very educational for me, but inspirational to continue the Journey of Rotary education. PROMAZ AUTOMOTIVE incredible archive of knowledge was astounding. So thank you to them and thank you to you guys for sharing and help educating me.(some of us dinosaurs don't immediately comprehend all facets of a new hard drive technology)

I think the restriction initially starts before the turbo in the exhaust flange. The exhaust ports have a 51mm diameter (= total exhaust area of 4,085.6mm squared over both ports). It seems the most common exhaust flange are T4 twin scroll, so the total area of exhaust area in the flange is just under 3,692mm squared. This immediately restricts the exhaust area, not taking into account any of Bernoulli's principles with regards to the manifold itself.

Main restriction has to be exhaust for a rotary due to the sheer volume of air the move. And intake would be a close second. Hence who a “1.3L” rotary have such monster turbos

The restriction on the street is probably the turbocharger itself. Specifically the exhaust housing.

@joeracer302
@joeracer302 2 жыл бұрын
Can compensate a lot for poor intake flow by turning up the boost. If it is N/A it’s a different story, but with a turbo the boosted air will get pushed through restrictive intake, just need open exhaust. Of course, optimizing intake and everything will give more HP, but a lot of cars make good power with stock intake.

@MrJermbob 2 жыл бұрын
He just says lets see if they can work out what the restriction will be on most street cars. Sure hes been fingering the intake port while saying it but if you dyno cars alot. Stick a boost gauge in the down pipe o2 sensor location. You will be amazed what pressure you will see.

That would be a shit engine builder if its leaking oil and water from a fresh rebuild. I've owned several FDs and FCs and never had issue with any of them. The FD I've got now I've had for 8 years now and give the thing death. Doesn't miss a beat.
