Hi Christian, I saw your videos before buying my RX8 in 2017. The Information you shared through your videos gave me a great confidence to maintain my RX8. I checked your both videos of radiator replacement and completed the replacement of the radiator. I have put all the hoses and clamps correctly. I have also a KS tools pressure tester. I am pumping the air but the pressure wont build. I have also used the soapy water trick on the locations of the hoses but i do not see any bubbles. I don't even hear any air leaking noise. It feels like the cooling system is absorbing all the air i am pumping. I have pumped for 10+ minutes but no pressure is built. What am i doing wrong? I do not have the koyo radioator or the silicon hose set. Mine is the stock system with an SPS radiator which is exactly similar to Mishimoto radiator.
@krishna220219882 жыл бұрын
Never mind 😅. Dumb me didn't care to verify if the coolant drain bolt below the engine was there or not before pumping air. I put the drain bolt and also tightened the other drain bolt on the radiator and the pressure built up immediately. I noticed that i too have a leak at the hose where the boot outlet of the radiator is connected. I need to fix it. Thanks for the detailed video and procedure to verify the leak. I appreciate your contribution to the RX8 community a lot.

This is really good video... I was able to get my hands on a 53mm koyo radiator, it is on it's way as we speak. However, I've tried contacting Essex Rotary via e-mail, and on facebook about the special hose kit needed to make this radiator work. Since I have not been able to get in touch with them, i may have to make a custom kit from Auto silicone hoses(ASH); but wanted to ask you if you happen to know the diameter of the hose kit you bought from Essex Rotary? Their website does not list any dimensions, so any feedback you can provided will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and keep up the good work.

It would be interesting to see if you can improve your temps even more by moving the license plate out of the way, in my country for example is legal to move your license plate to the sides of the front bumper.
@danogh22275 жыл бұрын
If I recall right the RX-8 has 2 small oil coolers on the sides. There's no good place for the license plate on the front of RX-8, but the middle is kinda the best.
@kirafxd5 жыл бұрын
@@danogh2227 I've seen pictures of rx8 with smaller side license plate witch does not obstruct any ventilation holes, you can find them on Google by typing "rx8 side license plate".
@danogh22275 жыл бұрын
@@kirafxd Those would be awasome, but the law may not allow for them in some countries, which sucks.
@tommythebiker30815 жыл бұрын
No. The front grille position is misleading, the air flow onto the radiator is not obstructed by the license plate. You'll see it clearly if you remove the front bumper and take some measurements. Moreover, by moving the license plate to the side you can even partially obstruct the air flow on one of the oil coolers, if you don't position it wisely.
@Drivenbymadness5 жыл бұрын
Sadly the licence plate position is the best position it can be on a stock bumper. The grill behind the licence plate is covered, which means it has no air flow. Relocating it where the oil coolers are js not good, as it blocks air flow there and most certanly not under the upper grill, as it obstructs the only air inlet for the radiator. So i would just leave it where it is, as it does not harm there :)

@@rexham83 He used prerecorded video mixed it with the REAL TEAR-DOWN when he should have recorded the entire tear-down as HE STILL HAD TO DO WHAT HE TOOK FROM THE OTHER VIDEOS. so he saved 0 time and created a weird jumping from outdoor to indoor video instead of keeping it consistent.
@tommythebiker30815 жыл бұрын
I think that's absolutely OK to use pre-recorded footage, as long as the final video is seamless and understandeable. Chris' editing is great, his videos are easy to follow and straight to the point, so why complaining for such a small thing?
@Drivenbymadness5 жыл бұрын
I'll just leave a simple reply: 1) The car was already dissasembled from the previous installation, so using pre-recorded footage saved me A LOT of time, since i didnt have to REMOUNT everything, just to DISSASEMBLE it the second after. Why record something i did 10 times before, which is the exact same thing everytime? 2) A big portion of the pre recorded footage is unique, as it's the first teardown for the radiator with stock parts stll there. This allows for a better understading from a completely stock prospective. This was not possible with the current setup, do impossible to fime again/recreate. So this is why footage outside and inside is mixed. 3) The beginning might be a bit bad on the continuety (it bothered me a bit also), but if you follow the video, everything should be 100% clear, with no questions about the process left unanswered :)
