If only I'd seen this video before pulling and tearing down my whole engine to flush the coolant. Of course, I'm replacing all the internal seals to fix the compression so I suppose that it isn't a total waste of my time lol. Excellent DIY to show anyone with basic hand tools how to do an important bit of maintenance on their car!

Great instructional video, well done! I did follow step by step and here are my 2 cents... The 14 mm bold in my car was cover with some tubes... So I did use another tool to loose it... Also I did wait about 1 hour for the car to cool down after the flush, however I almost burn myself when I was trying to lose th 14 mm bold... We should wait at least 2 hours for the car to cool down, anything else the video was excellent! Congratulations. I'm not a mecanic and this is my first time under a car doing this stuff.... The guidance was great, thank you again.

I'm in the process of doing mine, the no big issue I ran into was the engine plug, there's 2 lines that run in front of the plug and had to use a open end wrench to get it off, other then that, great video👍

Hey I'm having a issue with my 04 rx8. I deleted the air pump drove fine. Put a header on did not like it drove fine. I got a new header then it starts up and strong 10 sec. Then it only revs slow to 5000 rpm. If you could please tell me ive went through everything and I know its a sensor or the computer because of how its exactly the same time. Is that limp mode. Love the videos and how you get right to the point

Thanks for the awesome video. Just one more question. I live in South America where its always warm and never gets Cold. So in my case i don't need coolant with antifreeze in it. What is your best advised coolant? It doesn't matter if its expensive. I also heard of the water-less coolant. some new high tech better coolant. Can i use that. And in my warm country whats the best engine oil i can use for my rx8?

Thanks man! :D use 10W40 mineral oil, do oil changes every year. The radiator still needs the additives in the coolant, to keep the temperatures and fluids normal and under control. As fast as coolant goes, if you can get Fl22 its good, or any other coolant that has Glycol inside and does not have Alcohol, methanol, borate, or silicates. You can go to a shop that sells car parts and see what they have :)

Forgot to screw the cap back on after filling it up when doing the first flush, boiled it all over… Currently waiting 15 minutes after re-filling, let’s hope no air in the system. I reached 115°C in the city today, so I knew I had to act quick.

De nada amigo :) It's very rare for the car to overheat due to air trapped inside, as you have filled it with coolant. If you have trapped air in the system. Shut down the car, let it cool, open the cap and then turn it on. turn on heating on max, and swing the car left and right, so all the coolant gets sucked. After 1-2 minutes, you shouldn't see any bubbles coming out of the radiator. close the cap, and you should be good to go. But if you do it exactly like i did it in the video, you won't have air trapped inside 100% :) I hope everything was clear

I really liked the way you handled the flush but i was doing some research and the actual Mazda manual says, ```FL22 coolant is “pre-mixed” and must be added to the cooling system as is. DO NOT ADD WATER TO FL22 COOLANT. Adding water will dilute the solution and lessen the effectiveness of the coolant.``` Will there be any problem according to your opinion by you adding distilled water? Thanks man and keep it up!! FL22 as youve said is already mixed and you don't have to add water. But i've used another coolant that needs to be diluted because it's a concentrate. So if you choose to use another coolant concentrate that's not FL22, you're gonna have to mix it with distilled water :)

It is recommended to go beyond distilled and use deionized water to further prevent corrosion, it is costly but worth it. Also toyota coolant is good to swap to if flushing whole system. Mix 50/50 toyota with deionized water💯🙌🏻

I know this is old but I just changed my fans to Mishimoto fans and just threw away the old coolant and put new oem type peak coolant since I had to release the coolant from the rad and take hoses off, I didn’t do that bolt above the pan for engine coolant so did I still kinda flush/clean for the most part?

I changed recently the coolant from my RX8, if I remember correctly the most coolant gets out from the bolt above the pan (about 5 lt). I recommend that you flush it again!

How much concentrated coolant and distiled water should enter in the engine cooling system ? From what I've understood in this video is that you use 3l of concentrated coolant and how much distiled water ? also the cooolant that can be used is green or blue, correct ? not the red or pink one..

Coolant capacity is 8L but i think only 7liters can go inside. I used 3/7 coolant, meaning 40%coolant and 60% water.. You can read the back label of the coolant bottle, and select the appropriate % for your climate. blue or green yes, as long as it has the ingredients i mentioned in the description :)

Why not fill up with Mazda FL 22 coolent which has 12 year life span & recommended to replace at 10th year on RX8 it comes filled as standard on series 2 models.

Andy 1332 by opening.the cap and letting the bubbles out. When they finnish, turn.on.the car, and.rev it for 1-2 minutes. After that, shake the car left and.right. after this, put.the cap back on, and.it should be fine :)

The colour doesnt matter, just use a 50/50 organic coolant. Also the engine coolant drain plug has a crush washer that should be replaced, part no. 9956-41-000

Kuldeep Giri at AEM and RB CAI are the only intake that will gain you hp on an rx8 (only a little) their design is similar to the oem airbox . I think he runs AEM the filter head is dipping where the bumper is at because thats where air comes in it was a pain in the ass to install.
