I LOVE my Ford Maverick! So far so good at 23K miles in. Ford stole me away from 23 years of Honda ownership with the Maverick. I tend to hold my vehicles for at least 10 years, so we'll see how they hold up long term. HATED the Mazda that I owned back in the day. Nothing but problems.

Much like home buyers and apartment renters, not everyone needs 3 to 4 bedrooms. Don't get why a small fuel efficient truck can't be offered in a small cab 6' bed option? Instead of all the the offerings just focusing on a "suv with truck like features", just make a small truck in addition to your suv offerings.

I like Mazda . I want a simple truck with a low loading deck that's actually usable. I want 0 off road shit . Car gas mileage,and comfort ,with the convenience of a truck bed for bulky things wet messy things Not heavy payload. Most Americans Never even use the damn bed much less ever go off road .

We need a 6 Foot bed for small trucks but these manufacturers are not very smart, if they want to beat the competition they need to make a long bed. Remember when electric cars were ugly until Tesla came along. Whoever makes the ultimate small truck wins...

I totally agree. Any bed smaller is worthless for carrying anything. Single cab with bench seat too just in case you need to fit three people into the truck. Like the sixties El Camino or Ranchero

Exactly my sentiments. Nicely appointed single cab with a jump seat and a long wheel base for actual practicality. Simple these double cabs and you can’t hardly fit a lawn mower on the back. Defeats the purpose. 💯% agree with you.

It does exist in Australia and other markets. You wait once is designed for the North American it will be a game changer. The BT50 is a truck base model unlike the urban Ford Maverick.

I don’t need 4 Doors on a truck. I’m a farm boy and need a simple two door 6 ft bed truck in order to work and load stuff . You can’t load anything on a flippin 3 ft x 3 ft bed .

I hope Mazda is following the comments online and actually listens to what people want. 5 to 5.5 ft. bed for the crew, 6 ft. for a regular cab, at least 5 to 6k lbs. towing with matching payload numbers with Ford and under 35 for the top trim, I'm there. Plenty enough for me. The 2.5 T will outlast the Ecoboost any day. Had one and I'll never go back to Ford.

Mazda just needs to take another try it could be a game changer as long as is build on a truck platform for the North American market. I can wait to see what the other Japanese manufacturers will offer. Is going to change the SUV market as I found that category to be more geared to the female market. Males need trucks affordable trucks and thanks to the suburban sedan base Ford Maverick manufacturers around the world are rethinking the category once again. The Ford Maverick may be a good truck but is not a truck truck if you get my meaning.

If it is not made in North America, it cannot realistically be sold in the USA since there is a 25% tariff on light trucks. Most of these light trucks are coming out of Thailand, the new Peugeot /Changan is made in China… NAFTA is now USMCA, the light trucks made in USMCA must have certification of components, importing parts from other markets are limited part must be made in the trade zone.

Mazda made the 2012 and older Ford Ranger pickups. We’ve been driving Ranger’s since the 80s and they have proven themselves to be durable little pickups. We currently own a 11 Ranger XLT super cab 4WD with the 4.0L V6, automatic transmission, limited slip differential and a tow pkg. It’s mainly used for work around our property and has only 36K miles.

Bullshit. I went to Mazda because I wish replace my old BT-50 (3200 Ford engine) and the dealer told me that the new BT-50 will be on the market on 2025, MAYBE !! Actually the BT-50 is unavailable for unknow reasin (some rumors say that Isuzu don't give the engines).

I had a new 1987 Mazda 323 back in the day. Unless Mazda has come a LONG way since then, I'd never buy another one. Endless problems with that car. Two of my friends had them as well - 1988 models. Transmission problems, AC, blown engines, you name it. Another friend had a new 1988-89 B2000 Mazda truck that had never-ending AC issues, but was really fun to drive as a stick shift. That truck was eventually stolen. Mazda hasn't convinced me with their vehicles, but I wish all future owners nothing but the best.

I am not into this smaller truck stuff. It looks like a truck but it is incapable of doing trucky stuff such hauling a boat and hard core off-roading. I just don't see the point of getting something that resembles to a truck but it is not one! I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 TRD-OFF and I can haul, go mudding, camping, off-roading and Tacoma doesn't even break a sweat! If it's about cargo space and light off-roading, then I would recommend something like Subaru Forester instead, which would make more sense!

I appreciate the video but there's a lot of copium here. Mazda has yet to announce anything to compete with the Maverick and Maverick is entering the 3rd year of production. Best Mazda or anyone else can do is a 2025 model which will be 3 years behind Ford. 3 YEARS. My Maverick hybrid is consistently getting 47 mpg with zero issues in 23,000 miles. Pretty reliable. Mazda regularly shares platforms with other manufacturers so how can you tout reliability and quality? You're guessing at engine options and features and if Mazda wants to compete with the Maverick on price and efficiency while beating it off-road, it will have to clone the Maverick and put a Mazda badge, like it did with the Ranger from '94-'09. Who cares what the Asian and Australian markets are doing. They have never crossed over to the American market. My Maverick is just about the cheapest vehicle Ford sells and they cut lots of corners to save costs, which I just don't see Mazda doing as they position their SUVs as upscale vehicles with posh interiors. It doesn't translate to a budget pick-up. I'd put money on never seeing a hybrid or electric pick-up from Mazda.

The competition can sell and get Mazda AND Ford money! ... and for Pete's sake, the Maverick turbo has the same engine configuration as the Focus St. Can you say performance headroom? C'mon dude, any company that makes a cheap hybrid is going to put an Atkinson cycle engine under the hood to produce the best fuel milage possible. They WON'T pair a straight up normal 4-cyl engine with a hybrid system because they aren't as fuel efficient as they could be. This completely invalidates your pie-in-the-sky HP/TQ hopes. Please do better.

Dont know why anyone buys any of these so called trucks. They are the most impractical vehicles. The beds are so small they are useless as a truck. You can carry more cargo in an suv that you can fold the seats down. If you are going to take a trip with more than just one passenger you have nowhere to put the luggage but in the bed, where it will either get wet or stolen unless you have a cover and then you can only put in what will fit with the cover closed. In an suv you can stack stuff to the roof line if you have to. Basically these are not trucks. They are just a beefier 4 door car with an open trunk.
