I used to own the current generation Mazda 3 and still own the CX-30. Jon went over most of the differences but I add two more. The 3 is fun to drive. The 30 is OK but it's no 3 when it comes to handling. The 3 also gets much better highway mileage. In my case, the difference was five mpg @ 70/75 mph. The 3 is just a more aerodynamic vehicle. Around town, not much of a difference (mid 20's). I'm 6'2" and I found the driving position more comfortable in the 3. My wife is 5' and she prefers the 30. Thus, that's why we now own just the 30. 😪 One more thing. The 3 handles better in the wind. You will notice the difference on windy days on the highway..

Well darn it, I need the CX-30 for it's better ground clearance since I live somewhere with severe winters but it's sad to hear the handling is that much worse on the CX-30...

@@Unchainedmaple888 In it's class, the CX-30 handles at or near the top. When Mazda raised the CX-30 and increased the aerodynamic drag over that of the 3, other parameters had to change. Comparing sedans & SUV's is always going to create this dynamic.

@@cusebike5391 Hyundai did a really good job closing the gap with the Kona N and I wish Mazda would take a crack at making a handling focused Spirit Racing CX-30

@@Unchainedmaple888 The Kona N is a niche vehicle from a company with lots of cash. That's not Mazda. The two companies have little in common. I'd take a CX-30 over the N every time. If performance is the primary (only) criteria, the N has the advantage.

Yeah, but that ground clearance on cx30 definitely helps. I got cx30 last month after driving both mazda 3 sedan and cx30.

Hi Jonathan, great video! Perfect timing because at the end of November 2025 the lease ends on my 2023 CX-50. While I'd love to have another one, financial concerns are making me look to a less expensive option. That would be either a Mazda3 or CX-30. The CX-30 gives you more cargo than the Mazda3 sedan, but at the expense of $2000 more, plus poorer fuel economy. Question: You compared a Mazda3 sedan to the CX-30. How does the Mazda3 hatchback compare in interior cargo space to the CX-30?

I'm glad I snagged a '23 Premium 3 sedan, as it was the last year you could get all the good stuff like Head Up Display and Bose audio with the naturally aspirated engine.

I have the2024 CX30GTTurbo in the ceramic white loving the colour . Here in Canada, just tried it out in the snow that we just got a couple of days ago, had to try out the all season tires, so far so good. Zoom Zoom.

I wanted the CX-50 but all the QC issues make that car a risk. So i went with the Mazda 3 MT premium. Great car only issue with cars these days especially mazda is the paint chips.

i am on my 6th Mazda and all i can tell you never buy the 1st year of a new model now i drive a 2024 CX-50 and after 6 month only one small issue a trim around the back door window that they changed under warranty my last car was a 3 AWD 2019 made in Japan and had 5 recalls and the squeaky dash that lasted for 5 years until i sold it

Would you guys choose the Mazda 6 or the 3 if the price difference was only 2000$. Both new obviously. I'll be buying one of them next month.

I'm just dying for a CX-30 hybrid that's built either in Hiroshima or Alabama even better would be a Spirit Racing CX-30 focused on performance and better handling
