sasuke uchiha Awesome! It really depends. Is the car stock? I would say read as much as you can on the mazdaspeed forums and always run the highest octane from reputable gas stations. Also don't floor it below 3000 rpm's. And if you tune it, make sure to upgrade the high pressure fuel pump internals.
@corderomccargo45006 жыл бұрын
Wannabe Tuners it is stock. Not even a intake. So I'll be starting from scratch. It'll be a daily driver so 320WTQ is good for me. Nothing too crazy.

Nice, I'd recommend upgrading HPFP internals first, then get an Accessport. If you want to save money, have a HP goal and buy the right parts the first time. I'm on my third intake, and my upgraded TMIC is getting replaced with a FMIC. There are so many things that I bought and ended up getting rid of. I could have saved thousands!

With this turbo do you always have to get the revs up and then punch it? Or can you punch it when you hit 3000 RPM?
@WannabeTuners5 жыл бұрын
It doesn't spool until about 35k rpm. Anything past that and your laughing. Flooring it at 3k rpm isn't going to impress very much :) By shifting the power curve to the right, it's much safer for the stock rods. As always a good tune is very important.
@mjl64255 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely looks like a lot of fun anticipating the sudden rush of power, that’s what I love about turbo cars. But what about once the car is rolling and I need to make an instant pass? I can’t be waiting for it to spool up while I pass the Prius driver.
@WannabeTuners5 жыл бұрын
@@mjl6425LOL u just downshift ! It's not a complete dog at 3k rpm. The Bnr s4 is pretty darn responsive for the amount of power it can deliver. I think it delivers power in a smoother fashion than the k04

That’s the answer I was looking for lol! What about normal drivability under 3500 rpm? Like stop and go traffic, does it feel bogged down at all since the power band is higher?

Spencer GALE Taking the downpipe out would give you more room. Our downpipe had the flex portion on it which gave us more room. I'm not sure how much room you'd have without a flexible portion. You could try it and worse case take it out completely.

Hey bro so just bought a speed 3. I wanna get a bigger turbo. My car already has full bolt ons. I'm concerned about the fuel. I can't find bigger injectors for this car. How much whp will the fuel max out at with just a hpfp? Is a hpfp all I need? My goal is 400 to 450whp
@WannabeTuners6 жыл бұрын
From what I've read, the stock fuel system with upgraded hpfp internals on the Mazdaspeed 3's will max out around 370-380 whp. An ethanol mix may be required at this power level to keep knock under control and it also eats up fueling headroom, so going with a low ethanol mix is what most guys do. Unfortunately there are no upgraded injectors for our platform. The only way to get more fuel is with an AUX fuel setup. Either meth injection, port injection, or 5th/6th port injection.

At 18:45, why do you say OCC not worth it?
@WannabeTuners7 жыл бұрын
Lack of knowledge at the time, but I still had my EGR connected, so the valves were still getting dirty. OCC's are a must on these cars! The amount of oil that goes into the intake manifold without one is insane. I'm not sure if an OCC completely eliminates dirty valves but it definitely helps, based on all the oil that drains out of it:)
@seb427 жыл бұрын
Ah that makes sense. So optimally you'd want an OCC as well as a EGR block off plate

so overall comparason between s4 vs k04 with e85?? is it worth the hassel?
@WannabeTuners7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It's safer for your rods because it can't generate excessive boost at low rpm's, and it pulls like a monster above 4000 rpm. It also sound splendid! Obviously the tune is most important. The stock fuel system should be able to take the car up to around 370 - 380 whp on an e85 mix, without the BNR S4 even breaking a sweat. This turbo has been taken up to about 450 whp with auxiliary fueling such as meth injection. We're still running a base map until we can get the Guardian Angel up and running.
@fsflip31117 жыл бұрын

Is there a break In period on a new bnr s4?
@WannabeTuners6 жыл бұрын
eric negron I called Bryan at BNR and asked the same question and he told me "No sir, just drive it like you stole it" lol. One thing I do recommend is to make sure your crankcase pressures are vented properly as it is a journal bearing and if oil cannot drain back efficiently is can seep past the rings/seals and get into the exhaust causing smoking and oil consumption☺
@Ericnegroo6 жыл бұрын
Wannabe Tuners okay got it ! What’s recommended a vented or sealed occ?
@WannabeTuners6 жыл бұрын
eric negron From what I've read a vented oil catch can should work great. I personally have a jbr sealed OCC with check valve (to prevent pressurizing the can with boost) and I'm going to install a Gen 2 valve cover paired with an sp63 oil breather cap to vent the pressure. I tried teeing off a second check valve with debris filter along the hose from the intake manifold to the can, but I don't think it was enough as I still get smoke at WOT and oil consumption. I'm hoping the Gen 2 VC and breather cap along with the jbr oil restrictor bolt will solve the issue.
@Ericnegroo6 жыл бұрын
Wannabe Tuners thanks for the info ! I’ll be doing a similar set up. How’s the bnr running ?
