Your nature is that of a Straussian composer; revelling in the playful, light and joyful side of romantic dance music. But on the occasions where you stray from that into the more contemplative, reflective and chopin-esque areas of composition you really do come to life. This is certainly no exception to that rule and I think stands alongside your first three preludes and nocturnes 2/3 as moments where you begin to explore your creativity with much more depth. It really is a perfect balance and its why your repertoire is just so fascinating to me. Thank you for all you do, Laurent. I really mean that - your music has been a huge influence to me and I hope it continues for some time to come.

A terrific theme that maintains its course throughout. That little trill is a masterstroke.

I love how you've basically used the same motif all the way through this piece but with interesting variations.

Whenever I hear something from Laurent Sault I cannot help but feel something eerily familiar. It's as though I have known these pieces all my life even though I'm hearing it for the first time. Does this make sense to anybody else?

Another mazurka! Are you considering writing more of these and maybe working on a collection? I hope the answer is yes.

A lot of intricacies here, which is a little unusual for you. Your melodies tend to be a little less decorative with more of a reliance on simplicity and harmony but I really like that you've given this voice so much personality and I would like to see that more in your works going forward.

Yeah, but he keeps his typical motifs, like ending a initial statement with 2 descending melodies and using a chromaticism "circling" phrase. Jesus, Laurent love those elements

@@YukiEhms You are right about the chromaticism. I know it's been done before ad nauseum but I still love whenever I hear it and Laurent uses those compositional tools so well.
