Apparently the lack of massive sales is considered a "sad" tale of this rare band's history whose music still resonates today. Mazzy Star never gave a f**k about commercial success or played the fame game to achieve it like everybody else. They knew the only important thing was the music, everything else was industry bulls**t. They were right. Their music remains timeless & influential. ❤🎉😊

The sad tale is the loss of 2 members of Mazzy Star to cancer. Roback was a huge loss for the Alternative scene.

Great insight to a great band! I was lucky enough to see them perform (in the dark) 02/26/2019 one of their last live performances in Los Angeles.

Through Lana Del Rey to the Mazzy Star, am now a fan!
Roeback and the drummer both died of cancer, so that’s pretty sad. I guess Hope is the only surviving member.

Saw their album cover on Twitter without knowing who they were and thought it was a Lana Del Ray new album.

There's definitely a flavor there that's relatable but Fade Into You is so haunting and unique 👍
@sadbwoy977 ай бұрын
@@ericdelucamusic1 def agreed!!!! Lana is more relatable to me in a way where she opens up about self struggle and relationships. I get the vibe that Mazzt Starr is tha same but more unconventional and complex

I saw Mazzy Star open for The Jesus and Mary Chain in the mid 90's, and I remember she freaked out on the crowd because they were talking while she was trying to sing. It was pretty sad how seriously she took herself, and how she thought berating a crowd who wasn't even there to see her was a good idea. They had a good song, though.

Why are there almost no interviews with the singer? There are only 1 or 2, but from the 90s, from these 30 years until now, nothing... is she an introverted person and she doesn't really like talking to journalism?
@ericdelucamusic19 ай бұрын
i would imagine you're spot on... there's very little to almost nothing on here related to interviews. Hopefully she'll do something in the future with an interview but if she hasn't by now I'd say she likes keeping a low profile.

From what I've heard, Hope was terribly shy and hated standing out there in front of a crowd. You can see she closes her eyes a lot and tries to remove herself from the stage while she sang. She just wanted to make music. Such an amazing voice.
@davecomeau57194 ай бұрын
Super shy. I saw them a few years ago and there was hardly any light on the stage, could barely see her.
