Just a couple of tips. Don't call it an 'off-road' bike especially when talking to none bikers; try, "trail bike". And join the TRF! Best thing you can do to find and enjoy trails and help keep them open. Enjoy

Over in Greece its an off road bikers paradise,as long as you dont have a loud exhaust,slow down for animals and be polite and respectful.I have mostly only ever been greeted with waves and curiosity on public land.Most greeks ask me in greek"what are you doing here" expressing genuine suprise why anyone would want to go there.When i tell them that the greek countryside is the best most beautiful place on earth(imho) they are usually happy and proud.Many have friends with restaurants and cafes that i eat and drink in.Some private farmers let me ride across their land.

So use the other 95% of brideways and designated footpaths in the uk that are prohibited for motorised vehicles, bicycles even in some cases and horses. There are hardly any of these tracks left in the UK and all because of miserable, selfish misery old gits like you who clearly think that the remaining 2% of greenlanes and 3% of shared tracks is clearly too much for your entitled self.

Wow things are different over there.. I am in northern Ontario Canada we have hundreds of thousands of old logging roads that for the most part are all,open to any vehicle. I know one set of road that you can to over 200 k on gravel from town to town with at least 100 road going off that. The only unwritten rule is the logging truck have right of way even if the are on the wrong side of the road. Some roads are maintained but most are abandoned.

I can't remember ever seeing a sign like that on any of the dirt tracks I have used for walking or riding a motorbike, we used to get loads of complaints for riding off-road on the old pit heaps and woods and the rubbish tip land and gravel works when I was young, the best bit is it keeps teenagers out of trouble when they are repairing and riding motorbikes and nobody heard us after we were out of the village and onto the rough ground but they still phoned the police.

I've been against noisy bikes in the countryside But now you can get an electric KTM I'm going to get one , I'm 61 years old never too late too start, and are you supposed to cover the back brake when doing a wheelie . Think if got a lot to learn .

The most accurate comment on here, it started so well with the spoken debate, but quickly lost it with aggressive acceleration,raucous noise, insults, finger gestures, ...against an old lady, nice one! I'd be embarrassed to be a part of that, I'm keeping my exhaust stock just to be more respectful and humble on byways and trails, Slow down to a trickle, smile and put hand up or nod, all have appreciated that and let us pass quietly without issue, I for one am grateful we've been granted the privilege, let's try and keep it!.. 🙏

always one, Every time I meet a bike on the private lane to the farm I point out that there's no public access. they are always polite and apologetic and I never see them again. Every time I meet a walker with or without a dog loose, they argue the toss and try to claim it's a footpath their great aunt used to walk before the first world war, and often they come back week after week to try to make a point

We walk, ride horses and enduro bikes….we share the limited access we all have with anyone who we find using it. What we don’t do is swap hats depending on the hobby we are doing at the time. Some people just CAN’T stand to see anyone else enjoying life.

I used to get this crap so often when I used to go green laning on my quad. I found that the best way to deal with it if you can is totally ignore them. Unless it's the one's that lash out at you. Always best to record. 👍

Myself likes a hike in the hills mainly to keep my weight down and I often come across bikers and I can’t say I like the sound of engines but most ain’t doing much harm and just out enjoying themselves and once they have past me the noise have gone, and most are polite and slows down not to rev crap up at me and it’s not only the bike noises I don’t like as I’m the same with my petrol strimmer, mower, chain saw and generators etc I just don’t like engine noise lol, but that’s just my problem and the same goes for these walkers the don’t like the noise but it’s just tough they must just ignore and like the bikers alone.

I can see both sides of argument, there are limited opportunities for bikers to go off road and on paths like that one where bikes are allowed I personally would stay clear. But I have come across bikers who are not as polite and have little regard for other users to the point where it is just dangerous.

As was pointed out it’s about sharing these bye-ways not monopolising them solely for your benefit, as by definition they’re public spaces. She needs to find a footpath and stick to it if encountering the odd trail rider is not to her liking.

Je suis cavalière, motarde et randonneuse et je comprends totalement le point de vue de ce monsieur qui veut se balader au calme et en sécurité. Quand on marche dans la nature, on a envie de calme, pas de se sentir agresser par des excités qui foncent en mode mad max avec des pots full bordel. Le cross et l'enduro devraient être cantonnés uniquement sur les terrains dédiés à cet usage. Ce n'est pas une pratique "nature" comme le VTT ou l'équitation ou la marche...etc.... C'est une pratique bruyante et fort polluante. C'est peut être autorisé mais ce n'est pas normal de mettre ainsi en danger des randonneurs à devoir côtoyer des véhicules roulants souvent très fort comme si ils étaient seuls au monde sur la piste. Et je comprends également les habitants de villages de montagnes excédés par nos passages répétés et bruyants en groupe quand les cols rouvrent en été. C'est autorisé. Pour l'instant.... Mais viendra un moment où la nuisance occasionnée finira par être interdite ou fortement contrôlée avec des quotas. Et oui nous sommes trop nombreux sur cette planète à nous marcher dessus... Les gens qui sont en campagne y sont pour le calme et la tranquillité. Forcément que nos sports mécaniques bruyants les dérangent.

My uncle used to have this problem on his land so he put some really bad ass rams on the path which attacked anything that moved, problem solved. Mind you their were some really pissed of bikers with smashed up fairings and broken light lens.

Pedestrians are allowed to walk on almost any public road in the countryside, and, at least in my experience, no one ever complains about it, despite the inconvenience that it can cause to motorists, but when motorists try to use one of the few byways that are open to them, they inevitably have to deal with this sort of thing.
