Droll seems like a weird answer. Yeah you can make plays around it, but the same can be said of other handtraps like Nibiru, and I don't think anyone is going to argue that card is bad. Edit: If I could go to bat for Ghost Reaper, I’d argue if you used it calling an even mildly important card in the extra deck, you’ve stopped more than 1% of the opponent’s combo. Also I know some of y’all are wrong about droll. Just cause there are lines around it, that doesn’t mean it’s ineffective.

THANK YOU for espousing the correct opinion on Droll. So annoying seeing people talk about it in the same vein as like, Maxx C. This card is straight up BAD in the vast majority of formats. Even in the ones it's decent in, vs decks it supposedly "beats," those decks come up with lines to play around it that often end on a weaker but still respectable board. You know, the thing that handtraps are supposed to do. See Infernoble as an example. 99% of the cases where this card is actually an auto-lose are vs decks that are already not competitive, and therefore not relevant to the discussion. If your deck loses to any handtrap, Droll isn't an exception. Like sure, you can come up with weaker hands that basically pass turn vs Droll in good decks, but you can also come up with those same hands vs Ash Blossom, Effect Veiler, or any other handtrap, which is why Droll often doesn't make the cut once formats are more developed. The others tend to be degenerate decks that would make the game worse if they didn't have something like Droll gatekeeping them (Dark World.) I think part of it is Yu-Gi-Oh players have been playing a game that's so fast-paced in recent years that they've developed a hatred for anything that could be considered a "floodgate," regardless of its actual impact.

I don't agree with the super poly take at the end. people don't play super poly because it's bad. people don't play super poly because they don't fucking have room in the extra deck anymore. EVEN BRANDED DOESN'T HAVE ROOM FOR IT ANYMORE. the only decks that can are control, Voiceless, or a gimmick deck. konami have made 2 cards able to search it and not going to lie I don't think people will ever do that when the full combo already wins the game without super poly.

Typhoon saw significant play in 2016-2017. I can't remember why, but it definitely was seeing play and was actually pretty good at what it did.

Inscription is actually a really good board breaker. The reason being you always want to stop the follow up. Even against fire king inscription breaks their board lol. I would argue it’s a better board breaker than going first but 😅

I played ghost reaper and winter cherries during that Bird Up/Swordsoul/DPE pile meta to hit Recital Starling/Chixiao/DPE. I was playing Dino so i had the extra deck space and i was playing a million hand traps anyway. I won't say it was "good" but it did lead to funny moments.

I intentionally search through lists looking for cards I haven't seen or heard of and they're wonderful niche and explosive uses in my decks and I've never known of half of these.

Kurikara literally was a side deck staple kashtira format and jumped in price its card that varies with formats like kaijus are and if anything she is a better kaiju in many scenarios

Stygian Dirge my beloved, it may be only a continuous trap that reduces levels by one but boy does it mess up some decks, is funny against centurion, it was even funnier against Sprights.

Anytime anyone mentions an FTK that involves burn damage (ie Gimmick Puppet), I would always jokingly say something along the lines of “Hanewata Stonks”

Master Duel is a real breeding ground for these due to best of one format tricking people into running dogshit tech “just in case”. The redditor mind can’t resist chasing the high of resolving Kuriphoton against Tenpai.

Spellbound was actually decent, and seen tops in YCS decks, when exactly Purrely was one of, if not the best deck. It has seen no play since though.

Gnomaterial would have been lit in TOSS format. Sadly it came out as a band-aid fix right around when Konami also decided on a more...final solution. See also: Knightmare Corrupter Idlee, extra link format

I want them to ban mystical refpanel. Not cuz it's good, but because my locals has someone who has played that shit for months and used to guess when it works, he once activated desires and claimed it made opponent banish 10 and he draws two. Now he actually plays it right but takes a printout of the wiki page of cards that it works with.
@absoul112Ай бұрын
I kind of respect that he’s got a printout of the list.
@F3XTАй бұрын
it's said on YGOrg that it is correct, the opponent banishes 10 because that's the cost of the card and he draws the 2 cards that is the effects. gonna quote from the ygorg article that lists all the cards refpanel actually works with: "Remember that Mystical Refpanel only switches the effect of the Spell to the other player, but any of the Spell’s costs will always be paid by the activating player beforehand, and any conditions associated with activating that Spell Card are not switched. So, if you chain Mystical Refpanel to your opponent’s Pot of Duality, you perform the excavating and adding effect, but your opponent is still the one who cannot Special Summon that turn (or activate another copy of Pot of Duality). If you chain Mystical Refpanel to your opponent’s Pot of Desires, your opponent will have already paid the cost of banishing 10 cards, but when it resolves, you draw 2 cards without having to banish anything."
@BrandonSwinney-j2vАй бұрын
@@F3XT the problem is he wasn't chaining it to his opponent's pot of desires, he was chaining it to his own pot, and claimed it made his opponent banish for cost while he got the draw

It’s not that I’m personally convinced that these are going to break out in any format; nor am I trying to pill anyone on them. I will buy them in multiples once the hype dies down and they’re cheap which I think is both good for preparedness and possibly profit depending on if it happens.
