I always thought "Night's End Sorcerer" was a neat card. It even got a synchro monster "Night's End Administrator" in 2021 which uses specifically it as a material. Plus an archetype called "Night's End" would make for a pretty cool sounding archetype imo.

It was a fusion archetype too...and all we really saw was a trap card that stole a pendulum card, a purple lamp monster that searches polymerization, a red lamp that does burn damage on summon, and a La Jinn/red lamp fusion that also does damage on summon.

And since the lamp would be in the pendulum zone and La Jinn would be right above it making it seem like it's coming out of the lamp? Maybe give it a genie link monster with a downward pointing arrow that brings out the lamp from the face up extra deck or graveyard or something? And have the genie give effects that seem beneficial to your opponent but like a genies wish, it will screw over your opponent, kinda like a three wish sorta thing? Idk maybe I'm over thinking it too much?

@@MALP96 Nah, seems like some fun ideas. Honestly, above all I'd just want to see more elemental lamps and elemental La Jinns. The fire one is already shown to deal damage on entry and then, when destroyed, sends something on field to grave with it while dealing a little more burn damage. Maybe the other fusions have similar entry and exit tricks relating to their attribute? Oh and of course we have to have an archetypal retrain of La Jinn himself to aid with being able to get the name on field.

So, for zera the mant at 6:30, there kinda is related lore to him? He’s supposed to be a reincarnation of an old normal monster called warrior of zera. He’s had a few iterations, he’s one of the few archlords as archlord zerato, darklord zerato, angel of zera, zeradias (the monster searcher for sanctuary in the sky), mazera deville, and alghoul mazera. None of these cards really share any synergy, but there is somewhat of explanation of zera the mant.

It's interesting how there hasn't been a card that shows Zera and Dai Grepher interacting in some way. They have a similar concept: a person with different alternate paths they can take. And the art of Different Dimension Encounter shows that Dai Grepher's counterparts aren't what-if scenarios. They're alternate timelines and/or multiverse shenanigans. They can create a Visas Starfrost-like series of cards using Zera and Dai Grepher. And this time around, actually make the cards mechanically synergize instead of random cards with art that tell a story.

@ honestly, this is such a cook it would be unreal, 12/10 idea. Maybe having zera and grepher be rivals in some way, and have one be a light persona and the other a dark persona, and maybe have them go on inverse stories to become the other or something, but always crossing paths at pivitol moments. Also, just saying, if I had a nickel for every time Konami gave a normal monster multiple variants and tons of lore, but no actual archetypes to back them up, I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?

While there is some lore for Zera and his many possible futures, I do wish he had a real archetype, maybe something slightly similar to Vaalmonica where by going through his different "paths" of light and dark we can achieve a specific final form for him, 2 average but easier forms for either light or dark taking over and one "ultimate form" for having him reach balance.

His ritual spell is a reference to a panel in the manga where Bakura’s NPC transforms into Zorc. And his effects are a reference to the game mechanics of the RPG; rolling low was a success, and rolling high was a failure. Okay you know how Seiyaryu got retrained into a whole archetype with 'Starry Night Dragon'? Well it turns out that Serpent Night Dragon is the dark, evil counterpart to Seiyaryu (their direct translations are literally 'Holy Night Dragon' and 'Evil Knight Dragon'). So where is our expanded archetype retrain for Serpent Night Dragon with a whole bunch of Dark Knights and/or little Gremlin fiends supporting it? I mean the flavor text for SND is literally "A dragon created from the soul of a wicked knight." WHO IS THIS KNIGHT?

Dark Blade deserves an Archetype. A group of Dark Warrior level 4’s that gain effects when summoned or banished with a suite of Level 3 Pitch-Dark monsters. Having Rank 4’s of monsters setting up Banishing their own monsters and getting their Banishment effects. And having more Fusions that can be Contact Fusioned by banishing the requirements. Pitch-Dark monsters having their own ways to protect Your cards and helps Swarm the Field and to equip themselves from the hand to echo their Union Roots.

I found old/earliest fusion with 3 materials, and most of them using both cards (or one of them) as fusion materials. I think it is cool to create a fusion deck with 3+ materials for their gimmick. Ocean's Keeper, their gimmick is make your opponent reveals cards in their hand. I think this is a pretty unique gimmick. - Javelin Beetle, the only 1 Insect Ritual, I need a retrain for this.

For me it has to be the warring Dino, Dragon, and Sea Serpent cards from the beginning of the pendulum era. The Sky and Sea Dragoons of Draconia. The Saurai Cavalry of Reptier, the Steel Cavalry of Dinon, the Magical Cavalry of Cxulub. Not only do they have cool designs but I also like the idea of a multi-type archetype but the different types in that archetype are in conflict instead of working together

The Zorc card is a reference to Dark Master Zorc from the first duel against Dark Barkura in the Manga/Toei Anime. Instead of an awkward Duel Monsters game everyone was sucker into a TTRG where Dark Bakura was the Game Master and Dark Yugi was playing everyone characters; Dark Master Zorc's effect being tied to dice and its effect on a six is a reference to critical fumbles from that duel. This battle was awkwardly referenced in the final arc of the Duel Monster Anime despite it happening differently in Yu-gi-oh Duel Monsters. The Yu-gi-oh Duel Monster anime skips over the first 59 chapters(about 3 arcs) until they realized some of the stuff that was skipped over was important. TDLR Dark Master Zorc is a different character than Zorc Necrophades, with Zorc Necrophades likely being a reference to Dark Master Zorc given the real world time between would have been 5+ years.

With Pends, Centur-ion, and Snake-Eyes floating about putting monsters into and out of the backrow, I imagine it'd be easy to do a full proper anime-accurate Seal of Orichalcos archetype. One that actually uses the whole "you can summon Monsters to your Spell/Trap zones" and all that, and have it also include the additional layers to the field spell. I'd also love to see an archetype around some of my other favorite early cards: St. Joan and Guardian Angel Joan. Yes, she's been kinda co-opted into Darklord (and D/D/D as Oracle King d'Arc), but I'd love to see a separate distinct archetype for them.

@@lordflarus I assume this is a reply to me? No, but D.D. Esper Star Sparrow and D.D. Jet Iron both are (IRL, the D.D. was added). Star Sparrow is what the deck is built around and Jet Iron mentions the rest of the monsters by name. So a simple way to make a ROTA for the deck - for example - would be printing a card that said "Add 1 "D.D." Monster OR 1 Monster whose name is listed in a "D.D." card's text from your deck to your hand."

I feel like if they were to make a genuine coin flip archetype, the strategy would revolve around undoing the need for the actual coinflip. Like maybe have a "Casino" field spell and certain continuous spells that allow you to just pick the effect of the monsters by avoiding the coinflip altogether. Have monsters themed around the people who work at that casino while the continuous spells are based on the individual tables.

To continue with the old Rituals: Performance of Sword. due to my crazy imagination, I've envisioned them as a Pendulum deck with the Pendulum effects helping them get to the Ritual Spells and monster effects to the Ritual monsters. And then there would be a few new "Performance of Sword" Ritual monsters with a little word added to the end like "Modernized" or "Remixed" and they would gain effects if the original one was the material while the new Ritual Cards would give new effects to the Normal Performance of Sword like doubled attack, ability to attack twice, immunity to card effects, etc. also the Ritual Cards of course would be able to use the monsters in the Pendulum Zones as tribute.

for clarification, white woman jumpscare is _completely_ unrelated to isolde and tristan, with the latter two being part of a theoretical 冥界, meikai, archetype, whereas the former is meishin, 冥神, except that's not even that correct because the white woman _heavily_ abuses gikun to the point that it's interesting that the tcg chose to localize the kanji instead of her actual name ( i.e. both goddess of the closed world and moon of the closed heaven explicitly share the "saros=[mesopotamian goddess]" formatting in their kana, instead of the less direct connection shared in their kanji and english names ). so, it'd be more accurate to say she's part of the theoretical 閉ザサレシ, tozasareshi, archetype, which would probably be called "saros" in the tcg if not for, again, the interesting localization choice this isn't just cutting hairs, either, as isolde and tristan are just flat-out cards from the zexal manga, hence why they share the exact same theme and zombie type as number 23: lancelot, dark knight of the underworld, while white woman is a _completely_ disconnected fiend link monster with absolutely none of the aesthetic, theme ( see: the overt allusion to _mesopotamian_ mythology in her japanese name ), or any form of synergy with the very zexal-esque "an xyz monster and exactly two or three thematically resonant monsters designed to turbo it out" shtick the noble knights But Dead got going on. like. they've actually got that going on _so_ much that they're aren't even on-theme for the guy who uses 'em. he's the spider guy who we get baby spider and the spider numbers from, yet in a duel against shark he randomly busts out the anime waifu and elden ring reject to turbo out his fancy new number and then never summons them again

dragon cores are presumably related to dragon horns, as they're both read as ryukaku in the japanese names of her and her previous form ( though the "kaku" is read from different kanji in each ). the dragontaint might not be all that interesting of a mystery, either, considering she was released in the middle of the dracoslayer storyline, shortly after amorphages dropped. granted, it could also be the very plague she was trying to make medicine for back when she was dragon horn hunter, just to add further layers of tragic irony to her tale

I think for one/two cards I would almost like to see a full archetype out of would be Risebell and Saambell, Risebell is known for that little corruption arc on cards with Hypnosister, but Saambell actually is trying to become a powerful summoner to likely attempt to get her brother back, and the duo would often be shown with weak Normal Monsters as familiars/summons. So a Saambell with a bunch of retrains of those old Normal Monsters would actually be so cool to see as even just a mini story archetype. And would give a life back to some old "wimpy" Normal Monsters sorta like Memento did.

I think a gambling deck could work if they were both effects that furthered you plays, like once per turn flip a coin, heads draw two, tails add a card with a coin flip effect from your deck to your hand . Maybe a monster that lets you decide one coin flip but you can't use effects that don't rely on coin flips for the rest of the turn. Honestly a whole dark machine deck based on machine king and heavy metal raiders and coin flips would be cool

There are already archetypes with effects like this (notably, Speedroid), it would get far too out of hand if the entire deck was RNG. If you make it so that no matter which effect you get, you can do the same combo, the deck is boring. If you make each effect too different and situational compared to the other, the deck is horrendously inconsistent. If you make "heads: get a broken effect, tails: do nothing", that's just terrible design (Sixth Sense). Having single cards that can vary the combo, like the "choose 2 cards - your opponent randomly picks 1 to add to your hand" effects, are far superior design-wise to coin flips. And if you want pure gamba, that's what grass decks are for.

On thing I love about Zorc the Dark Lord is how it calls back to the roots of Yu-Gi-Oh!. The crew plays a tabletop RPG against a possessed Bakura with Zorc as the final villain. It was what originally got me into the Yu-Gi-Oh! series. So it tickles my grundle that Kazuki Takahashi chose to end the Millennium World story in the exact same way, with the crew playing a tabletop RPG against a possessed Bakura with Zorc as the final villain. Boy howdy is this my moment, a few that come to mind: Reaper of the Cards, "Reaper of the" archetype (associated by stats rather than name); Special Summons itself face-down and has a Flip Effect which acts as removal for all cards of a certain type. Barrel Dragon, already a series (and Rokket plus Borrel exist) but a variation that goes crazy like 'Flip a coin up to the number of "Barrel Dragon" monsters you control, for each heads you can target and destroy 1 card on the field.' [example effect] Or that modulates what it targets based on coin flip results, e.g. heads; destroy monster, tails; destroy spell/trap. Heads; banish cards from field until end of turn, tails; banish cards from either grave. Then there are others which were mentioned in the video such as Majestic Mech (summons self, goes to grave/banished at End Phase, has an effect that triggers when it is sent to grave/banished). I have way too many to list and go through.

I’ve long said that all the weird non effect old school DM ritual monsters need to either be added to Voiceless Voice in their own way where you build the deck around the specific tri type you want. Either that or they make new ones for them in the way the person who posted Chakra mentioned. You could also make them into a different Memento style deck where we do the forgotten or useless monsters for each summoning method. Memento is the Fusion version, these would be the Ritual version, etc. all the way down the line.

I remember being wildly disappointed by Isolde, Belle of the Underworld and Tristan, Knight of the Underworld. The cards had a very interesting Miho and Kizan interaction, but never went anywhere with their lore or effects. The idea that Tristan can save Belle from the Graveyard and then Belle joins him upon being saved is a neat idea that could have some interesting lore potential on par with Miho and Kizan or even maybe a reference to Orpheus and Eurydice from the ancient Greek tragedy. A few spells and traps documenting his journey to save her, a couple monsters to help facilitate his journey and even an XYZ of them together is entirely possible, just borrow notes from Burning Abyss and Dark Magician.

dark master Zorc is based off the arc from the original Yugioh manga (before duelist) where Yami Bakura played a stand-in for dnd with Zorc as the final boss. rolling 6 causing you to wipe your board while rolling 1 or 2 wipes your opponent's board is a reference to how in the game, rolling 09 or lower was a critical (or super-critical if you rolled 00), while rolling 99 was a fumble and caused you to suffer a penalty (it caused joey to suffer a penalty game of being turned into his miniature, while when Yami Bakura rolled a fumble, Zorc blew himself up). for anyone curious, they were rolling 2 d10s rather than a d100, and at one point, Yami Yugi cheated by spinning his dice like tops and the wiggling the table to cause one die to hit the other to change his roll (it was partly to get out of a bad situation, and partly to get Yami Bakura to make a mid-game rule change to how they roll the dice to stop a dice trick Yami Bakura was doing to get criticals)

I was thinking the SAME thing for Dekoichi the other night!!! I also would like an imp archetype too. I also think Alexandrite Dragon and Labraderite Dragon could be the start of an archetype. I was also thinking that Darkworld Thorns, Man-Eating Plant, Tentacle Plant, and Man Eater had such great potential for an archetype!!! I came up with calling the archetype "Darkwood" and the base machanic would be targeting 1 (or more) cards your opponent controls and adding that card to the bottom of your deck face up and when you do so you get an added effect like "If there are 2 or more cards in your deck that were your opponents any battle damage you would take involving this card becomes 0", "If you have 3 or more cards in your deck that were your opponents any battle damage you would have taken involving this card adds life points instead", "When this resolves this card can attack twice this turn" etc. The boss card would be called "Darkwood Rafflesia" and it's effect would be something like "Normal summon this card from your hand if you have 3 cards in your deck that were your opponents. When summoned, Target 2 cards your opponent controls and add it to the bottom of your deck face up. Once per turn, Target 1 card your opponent controls and add it to the bottom of YOUR deck face up. If you have 5 cards in your deck that were your opponents, your opponents level 7 and higher monsters can't attack (or maybe can't activate their effects)". They would have a field spell named "The Darkwood(or The Darkwoods) Once per turn, Target 1 card your opponent controls and add it to the bottom of YOUR deck face up. If you have 5 or more cards in your deck that were your opponents, all "Darkwood" monsters you control gain 100 (or maybe 200) Atk/Def. All damage involving "Darkwood" monsters are reduced to 0 (or possibly reduced to 100)". I know that this deck would have to run 30 cards in order to add the cards to your deck.

If we're talking about existing cards that I'd like to base a deck around, I'd love to see an archetype built around Pyro Clock of Destiny. Having a full archetype that manipulates the turn count for their effects would be really interesting. You could design a ton of effects that get stronger the longer the game goes one for.
