I think DLink is better than you give it credit. Sure the hits kinda suck but now you can just play 40 cards to help consistency. The deck runs bystials as an engine, automatically giving it a good matchup into Unchained, Tear, Branded/Chimera and Lab. The end board is still very hard to deal with, and the deck can always contend with the best decks in terms of card advantage. You can run any hand traps you want, don’t have to prioritize Light/Darks since chaos space is at 1, and the deck can still play through nibiru fairly well. Only real pain is Droll which will see rare main deck play. Plus you can side Phantazmay cause that card is insane in the deck.

I really enjoyed that moment where he says "midrange deck" and then realizes that doesn't mean anything by itself and then follows up. @thorscape3879 Жыл бұрын
Please explain.
@ophid6997 Жыл бұрын
Yugioh players like to say things like "midrange, aggro, etc." But they fundamentally aren't concepts that can apply to a game like yugioh. They just like to say them because they are super important in mtg and they're aping the convention.
@thorscape3879 Жыл бұрын
@@ophid6997 Ok but would you not call Lab and Striker control strategies?
@ophid6997 Жыл бұрын
@thorscape3879 no. Both decks either establish turn 1 with followup or lose. Same as every other yugioh deck. The only thing that distinguishes them is playing green or pink cards.
@thorscape3879 Жыл бұрын
@@ophid6997 But are those not control strategies? They dictate the board state by having non-negation, non-destructive removal and sometimes sitting on floodgates. In the context of YGO that is control. Alternatively, a deck like Swordsoul has a bread-and-butter combo to be aggressive with Chixiao, Baronne, and Quixing Longyuan. It can also reign itself in and sit behind control tools like Blackout, Chaofeng, Gymir, Dragite, and in some builds other back row like Anti-Spell, Infip, and Solemns. This I would define as mid-range for YGO. Then you have Mannadium which is an indisputably aggro deck that sets up a 5 negate board that demands interaction from your opponent turn 1 to deal with it like Droll, Nib, Crow, and Bystials or have DRNM. The only MTG attribution I believe doesn't belong in YGO is combo as all decks have some amount of combos. It is the nature if the game. If you disagree with me how would you succinctly describe the playing styles of each of these decks?

@hyperlink6547 Жыл бұрын
ill be completely honest.. Gazelle being at 3 wont matter. After a LOT of testing the optimal gazelle count seems to be 2, and even then the deck only has so many options. Being almost exclusively a link deck means it gives up a LOT of generically good options like Baronne, Zeus, guardian chimera, etc. Additionally, because all of its ED monsters except balelynx and miragestallio want to be summoned more than once the amount of free space you have to work with is basically cut in half compared to other decks. You HAVE to run 3 sunlight wolf. you HAVE ro run 2 raging phoenix, and 2-3 balelynx. You HAVE to run mirage. Only 4 actual names takes up 8 slots, and another 5 being taken up by generic cyberse packages, splash mage, heatsoul, update jammer, transcode, accesscode. that leaves, what 2-3 slots to play around with? Thats almost no room for tech cards in the Extra, and link decks already have very limited tech options aside from the knightmare and charmer stuff. Its definitely BETTER with the new support and gazelle at 3, but the deck *already* had so many starters that its basically 50% gazelle already. Fire, circle, and mining ALL get you to gazelle, and you can run 3 of each thats already 9 cards, add onto that gazelle itself and thats over 1/4 of your deck, plus desires? if you run max on all of those thats 14 chances to get to gazelle. Plus, you run flame bufferlo, 3 more for 17. or debug for a guaranteed gazelle, also 17. thats nearly 1/2 of your entire deck being ways to get to gazelle. It's kinda overkill in all my testing. the deck is just... extremely bloated. it has to run so much to even function at a base level, and the boards it puts out arent that insane unless you are taken to magical Christmas land where your opponent opens no interruptions. Like, yeah 1 omni-negate and a non-targeting pop 4 is nice, but thats not much. Its main power is in the ability to recycle its resources, and draw a ton of cards (currently working on a build that has me drawing like, 7 cards a turn and still ending on a decent board) and it has an advantage in that it can recur a LOT of answers. you can bounce nibiru or kaijus for future use with miragestallio, you can recycle ash blossom with sunlight wolf, and hell you can even recycle Kurikara if you want. It's really good and spinning its wheels, but its defense cant last long enough for it to do that. thats not to say the deck is bad, it can still put out solid results. It's just very underpowered, and the new support and unlimit of gazelle while helpful doesnt do as much as you'd think. The new tuners give potential baronne lines, though they often sacrifice your rage or roar unless your opponent opens no handtraps. The deck still loses to droll, but it has options outside of that. The decks main weakness was never lack of resources or needed more ways to reach gazelle, it could always do that. It's main weakness recently has just been that it doesnt end on anything worth while. Its end boards are very small and pretty easily breakable if you dont take into account potential hand traps. Raging phoenix helped a bit, but not by much. It just made ending on 2 traps rather than 1 far more consistent. What we needed was a really good end board, and we just havent gotten that yet.

After 2 of the best board breakers in the game, 1 of them being limited, you can probably otk them with your remaining 2 cards in hand, but the deck has excellent defensive options and your not even likely to do that, through duster droplet they re-setup rage with a quick effect to summon abom from deck poping a card and adding dark contract and a trap for follow up

How exactly does Droplet and Duster kill a deck that doesn't really care about destruction or on field negation?
@astercat49 Жыл бұрын
Diversity of interaction, most of which matches up fairly well with other playable strategies, fairly consistent set-ups, resilience to a number of common board breakers, an ability to play through interaction, and a strong grind-game

Apparently yugitubers have an agenda to make unchained tier 1 to raise it's value.

Mannadium is easily tier 1 lmao. People just need to play fenrir in the list which no one does for no reason. Handtraps do nothing aside from droll, bystials do almost nothing. It’s also like the best deck going second because it’s a fenrir deck.

It's confusing for me as a new player to hear MBT discuss skill as it pertains to decks like Unchained. Is YGO "skill" just a huge amount of memorization? Or are there other aspects of the game I'm glossing over as a new player? I'd like to learn. Great video ❤
@Altergeist Жыл бұрын
Memorization can be part of it but mostly it's refered to how you navigate game states
@MuteMaiden777 Жыл бұрын
The skill in question is yes part memorization, knowing the right combo lines and interactions, but also understanding why those are good, when to extend, how to interact with other decks. It basically jsut has to do with the knowledge and ability to know how to use a deck properly and know when is most optimal to use interruption and such.
@cirkleobserver3217 Жыл бұрын
Sometimes your card interactions give you a lot of options and you need to pick the right one for the situation. Sometimes you might have once chance to negate effects on a card and picking the right one and win or lose you the game. There’s a fair amount that goes into knowing how to build a win condition, how to avoid combo disruption by baiting out handtraps/etc, and knowing exactly which tool you need to take control of the board. For example in Master Duel I frequently see players do extra deck summons prematurely, when they would have been better off with the monsters they already had on field.

Skill in YGO is adapting to 'suboptimal' hands(a.k.a. dealing with inherent RNG in a card game) and attempting to guess or play around what your opponent could possibly have in their hand as well.
@thorscape3879 Жыл бұрын
Skill also comes in knowing rulings and how those interact with a given board state. I was playing against Unchained for the first time a few days ago and I used Blackout on the Muckraker, Rhino, and my Monk with a Shthana in grave after burning both Caesar negates on the prior turn. Because of how "marked for destruction" works the Rino stops protecting the board which makes Muckraker vulnerable and Muckraker cannot tribute the Rino because it has been marked for destruction. For Muckraker to live it has to tribute Caesar or another Fiend on the field which would turn the 1-for-3 in to a 1-for-4 which outs the entire board.

Floo is tier 2 is such unbelievable cope. The deck is legitimately not really that bricky, has an extremly nice matchup against basically all of the top decks and gets to play shifter. Like yeah hate for floo is extreemly good. The deck has a very difficult time playing through tcboo and gets shut down very hard by zombie world, but in a format with this many playables you really cant play cards that are only good against one deck, especially cards that you can only use when you're first. Droll is like solid against the deck and has good coverage, but there are so many map lines that just barely care about droll & if you draw shifter it is a straight neg 1. Going first the deck has 3 shifter 3 feather storm with 6 pots to find them. Not to mention Crow is extremely good this format and the ability to search it, on yours and your opponents turn is simply rediculous. Also Ultimate Slayer and Ghost Reaper are very solid cards k bye
