WHEW Looks like I had my headphones on the wrong way when editing, and swapped L/R tracks! So when I PAN out the sound it's the wrong direction lol - Here's a link to the MC707 BOOT CAMP playlist! Another great video! This series is really inspiring me to keep trying new things with the 707. In each one there's always a few things I'd never thought to try, button combos I'd missed, or things I'd forgotten. Thanks for all the time and effort on the videos.

this is the best tutorial on the looper and tone tracks yet. youve made it so simple and i really appreciate what youre doing

I like the exporting and using on tone track method. I did the exporting and always used drum pads for the samples. However, using the tone track doesn’t need the setting change to stop the sample from fading like needed on the drum track. Just setting it to loop forward isn't so bad. Plus, I kind of like the simplicity of one loop per clip.

i will address drum samples in next episode, i figured out how to do samples so that it doesnt fade and a sample sustain command, but it took more steps than tone track :) stay tuned!
@chrisb338910 ай бұрын
@@RonCavagnaro yeah, I know the 2 methods for doing it on drum tracks. If you leave it on the NO SUSTAIN setting you have to alter the envelope times in the settings. I prefer the SUSTAIN setting, where you don't have to tweak the envelopes, but with that you do have to hold it down while recording it into a sequence. I will watch that one to see if you have some other small tip or tidbit to make it even smoother. I do like how with that method the sound of samples cuts off when pressing Stop on the 707.
@RonCavagnaro10 ай бұрын
@@chrisb3389 you dont have to alter env times. You dont have to hold the pad record in. It will cut out when you pull away from pad. Ill show next video either way :)

You simplified the looper . Awesome

I hope you will dive deeper ""Advanced Editing" of tonal /synthesis on samples .. you can crossmod the samples with 2nd OSC source which is the orangutans bananas!! Also layers in drum programs and overall workflow of this advanced sound design which is the 707s cryptnite (burning the arrow buttons and data encoder like its 1999).. everything you do on it is fluid and fast.. but an honest view of deep partials editing/layering is greatly awaited
@RonCavagnaro10 ай бұрын
Ok yes i will try to learn it. Every episode ive just learned it as im going, i am nearing the end of the series, next episode 9 is going to be midi sequencing and audio inserts. Maybe after that can try my best to do partials and all that. Haven't even touched it yet lol

Thx for this serie of tuto :-) Did you plug your guitar stray to the 707 ? Last time I try to record a guitar straight into the 707, the sound was really low even if all the volume was at max, we had to add a small amplifier between the guitar and the unit
@petro510 ай бұрын
You can eq and amp the track with no need for external gear
@debelfortmickael346910 ай бұрын
Thanks Petro for your answer I'll try that out ;-)

@@petro5 Yeah, it can sound great. i found the Saturator effect was really good on guitar, too.
@chrisb338910 ай бұрын
The best way to get a hotter level is to bring the external input into a track as an audio insert. If you do that, you can set that track EQ to have the input gain raised. Also, you can set the clip on that track to have an effect, such as maybe a compressor, or if using an electric guitar, one of the built in amp sims. If you don’t mind spending a few tracks, you can layer effects across audio insert tracks. For example, acoustic input to track 1 as audio insert from external in with input gain raised and a compressor on the clip. Then, you set track 2 to an audio insert but with the input for that track 1. You put a delay or chorus effect on a clip on that track. Now you can record a looper track with the source track 2 (or mix out if you drop the track 1 fader).

Thx @@chrisb3389 for the advice. I was just plug in the guitar into the external input without assing it to a track, but now I will do it you way ;-). And for the multi layer effect by assigning track to track I already do sometimes. It's fun and can bring you a great result ;-)
