Another great video. You're so fluent on the 707, it's great to watch. This one's gem for me was that holding down Multifx lets you change the parameter controlled by the knobs. Also I can't believe that I missed that holding Func during step edit allows you to change all the notes in a step at once! I may have missed you covering these next shortcuts, but I've found them really useful, and worth sharing (also it shows off my skills, though not up to your standard yet)...you can duplicate an EMPTY clip to give it more measures, using Func+measure > and that's usually faster than dialling in the number of steps on the screen (assuming you're doing 4/4). Also, when entering drum hits, if you hold the drum pad when you press a step, you get a reduced velocity, and if you press the step twice while holding the pad, you get a further reduced velocity - this is a quick way of giving the drum pattern a feel, and is quicker and more precise than dialing in the step velocities on the screen. Another useful tweak is that holding Note and turning the value knob or pressing the arrow keys lets you change the pad response parameters, which helps to get the right feel for playing a tone. And while we're on that topic, no-one really demos how the pads are pressure-sensitive - some of the preset pad sounds show this nicely, as you can lightly touch a pad to start a very quiet note, then apply pressure to make it swell - and I think it's poly aftertouch, too. Another thing worth noting is the issue of overdubbing new clips while the sequencer is running, because if you don't create a new clip when the FIRST measure is playing (and you have existing clips which are more than one measure long), the new clip runs out of sync with the existing clips, so if you record notes which sound in time when played, then stop and start the sequence, the notes will become out of time. It's really easy to get caught out by this, at least, it happens to me all the time. There are two workarounds/fixes that I know: the first is to hit shift-play to restart all the clips before recording into the new one (but you can't use that in a live performance). The second is to use the note shift feature to cycle all the notes in clip phrase forwards or backwards, until they're back in time with the other clips. Of course the real answer is to be careful to create a new clip at the right time!

There's a lot of musicality on display here. Very cool. The ingenuity of some what you do taught me I misunderstood the instrument. I wrestled with what I thought of the clunky way Roland wanted me to do things and got rid of it. In retrospect I ignored the many ways you can flip any of that on its head and didn't explore as deep as I should've. Perhabs I grab another one in the future, and ppriach different from the get go. Cheers!

Can you adjust /assign sample and loop start & end position in looper tracks and play with it real-time? And if not can this be simulated via the DJFX? Is it possible to lock the step playback when doing a "hold seq steps to only play held steps" .. its a feature native to the T8 ans tge MC iirc? Thx!

Bro just watched e7 anticipating some sort of knob assigned to fwd in partial layer only to experience a bunch of guitar takes furfilling a delete densititude for 30min ;) perhaps what I am referring to wasn't clear, I am asking if you can stimulate (DJ FX?) or set up on a knob sample start or loop end points .. effectively taking a sample into a single cycle territory if so desired ✌️@@RonCavagnaro

if you had to choose b/w this and the deluge, what would you go with?
@RonCavagnaro

I dont have to thats why i own both but if forced I'd go with deluge , its insane! But i like to switch out different gear because results are definitely different! Deluge has sd card streaming for samples whereas you can see the limits here hopefully. I really love both though. And all the other gear i cover (everything i own)

Really bro!?.. The Deluge must do something very special besides streaming long samples? I mean I just looked at the specs and it's a wonderful unit yet besides the song arranger I can't see it, surely decades of Roland s sonic heritage and seamless elastic resampling of tracks all realtime is hard to top? & With the MFX it all just sound bonkers!! anyone that grew up with hardware samplers will appreciate and know what u do in seconds would have taken hours back in the day.. heck even in modern DAWs this type of tactical action is not your casual flow.. would love to know the reasoning to preference? Is the Workflow on the MC sub-par?

may suggest better camera angle and a slower explanation. It’s not easy to follow and you’re moving through steps too quickly.

As described in the start of the video watch from the start since they are built from the previous. That's why i say it on the beginning of each video. It would be exhausting to explain each step over and over slowly in every video because it's about progress. There is a playlist link on the pinned comment. In this video I had a low angle for this did not notice it was so low by the end. I will change it next. Thanks!
