With fighter support, the MC90 wins every time. The Allegiance just has too few anti-starfighter emplacements to counter the MC90's ordinary embarked compliment of starfighters. Without fighter support, the Allegiance probably eight times out of ten since it was designed to be a capital ship killer. Not even MonCal shields would survive the sort of battering an Allegiance can delivery. MC-ISD: While designed by the Mon Cal, the aesthetic is distinctly Imperial, as befitting an imposing policing vessel of the Galactic Empire. Design elements will include superior Mon Cal shielding & engines, and internal command bridge. About 1200m. Distinctive wedge shape. No massive bridge structure. Three-tier dorsal superstructure starting at about halfway down the length of the hull and scaling back in thirds. Top tier serves as an observation, communication & fighter control bridge. Middle tier serves as a platform for _anti-starfighter_ quad laser cannons, twenty to each beam. Lower tier has _dual-purpose_ twin turbolasers, ten to each beam. Mounted directly to the hull flanking the superstructure are quad _heavy_ turbolasers, five to each beam. Two twin _super-heavy_ turbolasers are mounted forward of lower and middle tiers with twin ion cannon mounted immediately forward of superstructure on dorsal hull ridge. Armament pattern repeats on ventral hull with three-tiered superstructure serving as enclosed armour for the otherwise exposed reactor dome. Forward of ventral superstructure is a large open hangar/berth space to accommodate some manner of escort vessel (such as Raider-Class corvette). In beam trenches along after half of vessel are two flight hangars for embarked wings of starfighters, allowing faster deployment than is typical on an ISD from less obvious kill zones. Along beam trenches in forward half of vessel are (quantity undecided, likely five each in alternating positions) twin ion cannons and twin super-heavy turbolasers in wide angle casemates. Additional uniform anti-starfighter armament (quad laser cannons) is scattered across forward dorsal and ventral hull.

caleb carithers Well, it depends on which variation, however the ISD still loses because of the amount of Star-fighters Every Lucrehulk ship has (1500), compared to 72 Star-fighters the ISD carries. Furthermore the ISD II doesn’t have a point defense, further playing into the 1500 Star-fighter advantage of the CIS ship. In all honesty though, the only way the ISD can win, is if they can use all their firepower to destroy the ship before it launches its fighters, which will be very unlikely.

Disagree with you on this. The Allegiance went away from fighters to go with super heavy shields. They wanted to go with a style of. "Fights can not hurt us." Type shielding. Fighters and bombers would get fried getting to close to the ship. They would have to wait for the MC90 to take out the shields before they could really do anything to the ship.

Actually, the 3D model created by fractalsponge has a visible docking bay. It is positioned at the exact same place as the secondary bay on regular star destroyer. If the ship was hangarless, it would be impossible to bring personnel into it while in space. Even if it's not big I suppose it would be capable of holding, at least, a diminutive fighter complement, as well as some transport shuttles.

The main problem for the Allegiance is that it has no anti-fighter capabilities. To me this gives the MC90 a clear advantage. Even if the MC90 is out-gunned it could stay largely out of range and wait for it's bombers to do the job.

I think this goes to the Providence. A Providence wins against an Venator, its only weakpoint in this battle ist the extreme starfighter support of the Venator. A Victory has much stronger weapons, maybe even stronger than a Providence, but not much Starfighers (TIEs). Hes kinda equal to the Venator. So it would be like that: The Providence gains air supperriority fast, then uses its starfighters AND firepower to destroy the Victory.

The Mon Calamari Star Destroyer would be of normal size, between 1.5 und 2km long, carry a heavy fighter wing, alot of Landing Crafts and also very very strong armor an shielding. The hanger is on the bottom. It's probably the same size as that on the Imperial class, which makes it look smaller on the larger star destroyer. Look toward the front of the ventral axial batteries. It has blast doors, but there it is. Does that change your calculus on this matchup?

Mon Cal engineers working for the Emoire would likely build ships similar in shape to ISDs and SSDs, but with all the sharp edges rounded off and weapons blisters scattered all over their hulls. More angular and scary-looking than what we see in Legends and Canon, but with their signature flowing style. And scary tough shields. And hanger bays chock full of highest quality TIEs (Defenders, Punishers, Advanced, Phantoms, Hunters, etc.), all with Mon Cal shielding as well. They'd be badass, but make the Empire that much harder to overcome. Imperial Arrogance, Overbearance, and Hubris allowed the Rebel Alliance to form and eventually defeat the Evil Galactic Empire.

I've seen you kinda question this before, but a full wing of fighters is 72. A full wing = 6 squadrons. For instance, a standard Imp SD carries a wing of TIEs, as does the MC90.Just sharing information. Love the series!

The Mon-Calamari Star Destroyer would be called the Fish, It would look like a giant, sideways statue of Ackbar and it would use the head as a battering ram. It would also have some turbolaser emplacements but they would have limited range due to the aforementioned shape of the ship.

Not sure why you think those turrets along the edge wouldn’t work. The wedge is to be pointed at the enemy and kept pointed at the enemy. The MC has fire out of every quadrant. The wedge has one forward and broadsides just make you lose out on fire like the MC.

Minton Daleks are too advanced for the Star Wars universe. They have time lord technology, and the Daleks are basically indestructible. The Daleks could kill them by just boarding, let alone a brawling match between the two ships.

Remember that a normal Dalek Saucer has just over 2000 Daleks on board, so the Flagship probably has at least 20,000. and a Dalek can act as a Star Fighter, when not using those Weapons platforms. You can see in Episodes such as Into the Dalek and Stolen Earth just how effective at Boarding ships and invading they are. I think the only ship able to destroy a Dalek ship would be the Eclipse, but we know how Agile the Dalek ships are and they are able to destroy continents easily (Parting of Ways). The Dalek saucer is also a circle, meaning it has maximum fire power from any angle, meaning it doesn't have to turn around like the Star destroyers do.

The Allegiance was designed to be a fire support ship, like sitting amidst imperial 1-2 star destroyers, and those who come in firing distance to hurt the sd-s would be pounded into a pulp by the Allegiance. Also it could be used in blitz tactics, there the side turrets would make sense, namely cutting into the enemy fleet, pounding away with it's many guns in all directions while the fighters and smaller, nimbler ships move in with it to carry out either precision strikes or swarming attacks. It's a sturdy enough ship to rush into a weaker enemy fleet, which would make sense for the imperial era.Since it has no hangars, it's hull is probably a lot stronger. Even if the shield is taken out it's possible for the ship to take a beating still. In my mind would rather serve as a ship for diversionary tactics and/or support than anything else. A 1v1 matchup for such a specialized ship is kind of pointless, any properly designed cruiser can take it out 1v1. It was made to be a part of a fleet, otherwise it's a well armed and armored sitting duck, like a WW2 German Elephant tank destroyer against a bunch of footsoldiers, if they can flank it, the tank is dead, even with the later versions having 1-2 machine gun emplacements, they got wrecked by infantry, but at the same time they were devastating against tanks if properly used.

I can't find it in the comments, but there was a serious issue with most star destroyer shields: concentrated fire on one point can cause star destroyer shields to fail and require reset. Most star destroyers only have one set of shield generators that are responsible for the entire ship.

12 octuple barbet turbolaser is like equal to 96 turbolasers and also having like 9 heavy ion canons while MC-90 cruiser have 75 heavy turbolaser batteries and 30 ion cannon batteries (each battery consists of 10 cannons) so I think 750 turbolasers and 300 ion cannons is for the MC-90 which is severely OP to me..

Large ships of Cruiser level or bigger, are poorly designed if they do not have a hanger. I know that the idea is something like WW2 battleships in space... But we are talking about a big ship, that means a big crew (and in Star Wars those crews are insanely big to begin with), in turn that means needs for a lot of supplies. A hanger is really practical for that (if nothing else) and if one has a hanger, one might as well have a carry capacity.

The Imperial class Star Destroyer has 60 heavy turbolaser batteries, but only 8 of them are visible. I'm assuming that the Allegiance has even more considering that it has 12 visible heavy turbolaser batteries. To be safe, I would assume that the Allegiance has 90 heavy turbolasers. 60 Divided by 8 is 7.5 times 12 is 90.

The whole wedge idea is point at enemy and keep it pointed at them. Have you ever held a star destroyer mini? Look at it from the front. You can see everything down the trench and everything on the hull. To be fair the allegiance has a much better setup then the old ISDs main batteries, but the ISD’s could still superfire over the other batteries.

To answer your question about a theoretical Mon Cal Star Destroyer built for the empire, here' my idea: The 3.5km long Titan-class Battle-Carrier. It would be classic Mon Cal design, applied to the Wedge-shape design philosophy of most imperial star destroyers. I would say alliegence because laser cannons are very good against fighters and all the ball turrets are one of the most devastating type of ion cannon and can quickly disable a much larger ship's shields

In X-Wing Alliance I single handedly took out a Star Destroyer (don't remember which kind, 1 or 2) with just myself (a lone B-Wing and a lot of time). I'm sure that you're right, those 40+ assorted starships could easily take down that beast all on their own (especially if they focus on disarming it first). I approve. 👍

I think that a battle between the Death Star and the Star Forge would be the ultimate clash of titans. A battle of quantity versus quality of weaponry and a rather impressive sight

Death Star fires it's superlaser and destroys the Star Forge, sure it would still have a significant support fleet, but the Death Star is covered with turbolasers. I don't think they'd be able to destroy it.

@@keldabecc with the benefit of hindsight, I'm largely inclined to agree with you. I think the DS wins the majority of the times, but it could also depend on the location and prep time, since unlimited resources could make it difficult to get to the SF in the first place. Regardless, though, I have to commend your commitment to respond to a random comment with no likes six years after the fact. Honestly just impressive
