You’re so right about puppies liking soft crap... my friend recommended a super hard plastic Benebone and my 10-week puppy won’t even touch it... he loves plush toys, it’s the only thing he really ever wants to play with, and he’s never torn one up. He likes the puppy Kong too but still prefers the plush toys.

I was so tempted to get that little cutie for our Golden Retriever but realize she will most likely grow out of it super fast so the reliable red is what I plan to get. Your whole channel of videos have been very helpful for this overwhelmed soon-to-be puppy parent! Just got an 8 week poodle puppy yesterday and glad I did things instinctively what you already mentioned about food in crate, small plush toys, treat reward positive behaviors, no bedding in plastic crate yet. It’s reassuring! Also never thought about having house leash & didn’t know about Kong. **** i would recommend having a harness instead of lead attached to their collar. having a harness won’t choke or pull on their neck like a leash does!!!!!!****

My list for my pup: 1. 2 leashes (rope and retractable) 2. Water (portable water bottle for dogs) 3. Sleep (bed & crate for training) 4. Brush (depends on your dog I have a husky) 5. Food (water and food bowl-kibble that your breeder recommends) 6. Poop bags (don't recommends scoopers for the size and taking walks) 7. dispenser (place poo bags in and attach to leash for easy pick up) 8. Lead (if you go to parks and picnics or camping) 9. Collars (for walking I recommend harnesses and collars for at home) 10. Treats (try to get more healthy and chewable for pups) 11. Travel bag (this is optional if you travel slot I recommend it for carrying food and supplies) 12. Food container (holds food fresh) 13. Toys (some toys are essential if your dog has anxiety I recommend kong for everything) 14. A tag is must have if you don't want to loose your dog/puppy 15. treat bags (get a bag that also attached to your leash and hold treats for them on walks)

I have a 2 year old mini poodle and I followed all of these before I found this channel, it is very helpful to go by these tips. I also had a trainer come to the house to help with biting and treat training, it is very important to be on a routine with your puppy so they aren't lost when they first come home. Cute4evergirls Awesome - I believe they are medium size once full grown. Ours is 4 months old now, he has a long body and his legs are longer than a corgi’s, he seems to take more after his lab mom. But I have seen some with shorter legs too, it just depends on how the genetics mix.

Quick release collars come in handy when the dog gets his collar hung up on something and it starts to strangle him. Had this happen once with a buckle collar and dog nearly was choked to death undoing the buckle because you have to pull it a smidge tighter in order to release buckle. Will never get buckle collar again.

So, this video is really geared towards large breed dogs. I have a 3 month old Shih Tzu and he is only 5 pounds. All those items are way too big for him. The toys and bones are way big!! Can you please do a video geared towards small breed dogs? Also, he must wear a harness because of trachea issues with this breed. Thanks! You guys are awesome! Love all your videos!!

Some breeds are prone to trachea issues, yes, especially *as they age and due to improper training*, and individual dogs might even be genetically predisposed to it... But 99.99% of the time, the whole threchea issues is nonsense spread by positive only trainers from way back in the day because they thought harnesses were the way of the future of dog training and couldn't fathom the idea of giving pop corrections to their dog...*caughjeandonaldsoncaugh* But anyway, the collar is for control to keep your pup safe in the house and to make used to a collar. 🐶 With the house line, it's early then chasing them and for supervision. ☺️

I love your videos! So helpful as we're planning on getting a german shepherd puppy. I had a question about the water... you said that the puppy should have access to water all the time, and then went on to say you use the crate water bowl when the puppies are older and "farther along in their training" and should have access to water all the time. Should puppies water access be limited to a degree when they're just beginning their crate training/potty training? Or should your puppy have full access in their crate no matter the age? Second, I would love to see a video on traveling with your dogs! Especially with larger breeds... I would love to fly my dog home to AB from QC to see the family and to climb mountains, but I have no idea how to go about it. What crate, potty breaks etc.. Thanks!

The toy aisle bit made me laugh though because my last dog was a 60kg Bullmastiff and those rope toys were literally the only toys I could buy him that wouldn't be utterly destroyed in less than a day! 😂

Very useful video., thank you. We have been wondering what collar, leash, toys... to get for when we get our puppy. It’s all quite overwhelming. Your video has help a lot , to buy the right equipment but also to be organised and ready for when the time comes. One thing though, I have had to play parts of the video few times. Our labs used the plastic kennel (one a dog bed after a year) Since I didn't want to buy a smaller one, we would put a couple of computer paper boxes from work in the back to make it smaller for a few months.
