When I saw the ax24, I was literally insulted as an RC enthusiast. What a terrible design! I love the scx axles but at this point, for an rtr, axial is bringing up the rear. Traxxas, Hobbyplus and FMS are all far better offerings for rtr. I still prefer the scx axles for custom super performers but for scale and trail, the other rigs are so much better. The axe looks terrible and doesn’t perform for sh… Thanks for sharing, Donald! You’re awesome, man. Hope you’ve a great one.

I really like your MCCT tests b/c unlike driving on an in or outdoor course, which are way too variable even with the best driving and intentions, yours are very close to even and repeatable. I think if testing is going to be done and folks are going to compare (or complain about) differences and "better" and "worse", we need some standardization on surfaces, obstacles and methods like you've got. ???: One thing I did notice on the side tilt test was you had the AX above the sandpaper by a few cm's. The LaL tires were right against the edge of the sand paper. You being right there, can tell if it makes a difference or not. (Tire catching the edge and holding just that bit longer vs not touching) Might be only very small difference, but I just thought I'd mention it in case you notice a difference.

Thank you. There will always be problems... different temperatures, etc. - and for good and proper statistics you should at least test 3 (or 5 or ... depending on tests), so a n > 1 would be necessary. Way too much effort (and of course I do not have 3 trucks of each). You are completely right with those tilt tests and you are a very good observer ;-) My problem here is, that some trucks, which are "good", will start to slip before they tip over, this is of course also depending on tires (and maybe even temperature). Since I wanna test the angle of tilting, and not the angle of slipping (on rather smooth surface), then I place those trucks at the edge to the rough surface. I do not know if this really affects the tilt angle, maybe a tiny bit. But then the truck will fall and not slip. I had to do this in only very few trucks so far (donno exactly, but maybe 5 or so). Most trucks have no problems and fall before they slip. Would have been better if I had started to make the tilt tests on the rough side of the plate. But initially I never had problems with trucks slipping, all were tilting. However, those tests 4 and 5 are probably the by far most exact tests of all. They are nearly 100% reproducable. If I sometimes have to repeat a test in those tilt tests, the truck will always (!) fall at exactly the same angle, often 0.0° exact, sometimes 0.1 or 0.2 difference (because of the angle meter and my winch not working that exact). Those are IMO "the best tests of all" ;-) In 1 - 3 there are many more variables... and tests 6 - 10 are only "my opinion".

Favourite to use? There are too many - out of the box maybe FCX24 Power Wagon and Hobby Plus Rock Van, but also love FCX24 Unimog and FCX18, my SCX24 Grave Digger, the LaL and many others ;-) Best bang for the buck is actually for sure the rather new Austar AX8560 (MCCT 31).

What a duo! The AX24 is shockingly useless - the worst car I purchased in a decade ;)
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 8 ай бұрын
Only did those two, because they "look kinda similar" and I do have the "LaL" for about a year now here (or more?), and would not have made an extra episode for it. Most shocking for me: The rear axle or rear wheels/tires of the AX24, they cannot keep the truck straight, when it is struggling going up, trying to climb an obstacle - good to see in tests 1, 2 and also 7, 9. The AX24 is so bad, never would have thought this. Would probably perform much better without 4WS (or a better/stronger servo withoug servo saver).

@@daniels_199 I did already make several ("Full Metal", "Grave Digger", "SCX24 Betty mod v1). The problem is: This is quite hard to reproduce for viewers. And MCCT does not gain a lot of views... doing those videos is soooooooo much work and super time consuming compared to "normal" unboxing or "on the bench" videos. I do not have so much time. For example, take the FCX24 Unimog videos I uploaded recently: The MCCT video with 2 Unimogs took me probably 15 times as much time from start filming to upload as the simple "on the bench video". For one single MCCT (with 2 trucks) I can make probably 50 - 100 "How to program Radiomaster MT12" videos ;-) Do not have the time for this... (and additionally: views for "Unboxing/on the bench" are way higher than for MCCTs). I honestly do this only because I am personally interested in it and like this "Testing/analyzing/comparing". Next MCCTs will be MN111 1/18 Defender RtR Pickup vs. Kit (but still have to install and test the Injora 180 motor into my kit cab version) and the FCX24 Lemur; did already film and analyze the Lemur stock, and am completely upgrading it. Will still take a bit of time, for sure after Christmas, probably somewhen in January. Doing a ton of SCX24s with different mods and upgrades (starting from zero and then ... more and more) would be super interesting, for me, too. But... it will not pay off and I simply do not have time for this. Still thinking off ordering "your" HP Evo Pro for MCCT, but if, I would like to order both versions, brushed and brushless (2FMRC strangely showed brushed) and compare those in an episode of MCCT. But actually cannot justify paying about 500 bucks for those two ;-)

LOL - but I do not know. Some super cheapos for SCX24 ... from Ali or Amazon, do not know where I bought those. Only took them because of colour. Maybe changed springs (do not know anymore). Buy the "Mountain" shocks from Injora for SCX24, they are probably better (I do have them)... OK, edit: I found them, simple Amazon search, those ones: www.amazon.de/gp/product/B094NSFFNS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - do also have the same ones in silver, were super cheap, paid only 7,45 € (about 8 US$). Those ones are better: www.amazon.de/gp/product/B098DML9F5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

Good technical video but it's an kinda an unfair comparison of a bone stock ax24 vs a lcg upgraded rig. Given the same chance for base level upgrades the ax24 is just as capable. I think it's what drew a ton of people back from the old comp crawler scene for nostalgia sake where scale was never the desire, just performance. It's not perfect but it's extremely capable or more when built to the level of your scx.
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 8 ай бұрын
55 trucks have been compared, not only 2 - amongst those 44 out of the box unmodified trucks. 24 unmodified trucks were better than the AX24 (amongst those SCX24 Chevy, Deadbolt, Betty, Wrangler, Gladiator) The AX24 does "look like a comp crawler", while the other Axial 1/24s look like scale crawlers.
@LoKi01208
@LoKi01208 8 ай бұрын
@donaldsneffe 100% agree, no argument there. Proof is in the numbers, and honestly stock does leave a lot to be desired. Though I feel with the ax24 vs scx, that given that same level of upgrading as your lal setup it can perform just as well or better given that the driver is fluent with f/r steering.
@donaldsneffe
@donaldsneffe 8 ай бұрын
@@LoKi01208 To be honest: I did it because they "look kinda similar" ;-) - did make the LaL already last year, long time ago, but no MCCT video so far, and could get an AX24 for "cheap" (still expensive) here in a promo ("only" 125 €, normal price is 170 or 180, so nearly 200 US$). Thought it is more interesting to have two which look quite similar to compare. Rear wheel steering does not help in MCCT tests, unfortunately. I would see a better (stronger) rear servo as super important, without servo saver, that keeps wheels straight in climbing. Better tires... But still high COG, similar to the old micro crawlers (I do have four of the old ones with 4WS, RedCat, Reely, Graupner) - so I guess it will never be a top performer, even not with brass wheels.
