I was watching the food network recently and I realized what it is that makes Emmy so much more enjoyable. She isn't pretentious about food. She'll eat and enjoy most things and give everything a fair shot. I heard a guy on the food network recently say, "Canned ravioli? Gross, I'd never eat that, not on purpose anyway." Give me someone who appreciates luxury cooking and a simple MacDonald's breakfast.

Justin Jangles I love all kinds of food fancy or not. I eat canned ravioli for a quick hearty breakfast w saltines and blocked cheese. Yummy!!! I have grandkids so canned ravioli is a staple in my house, I cook homemade meals A LOT but they still like canned raviolis. Great for when I need a break from COOKING!!!!!

Well, she's too nice, because that McDonald's saimin is straight garbage and everybody needs to know not to order it. It's basically an instant noodle cup that they add water to for around $6. When she says there's a little piece of fishcake and a little piece of roast pork, those are also the only pieces of freeze dried fishcake and roast pork you get. It's a tourist trap menu item and pure profit for McD. It's not only a terrible value, it tastes terrible too.

I knew a girl in college (In Michigan) who had been a manager at a McDonald's and INSISTED that all American McDonald's had the exact same menu. I tried to tell her this wasn't true, as I had gotten McBiscuits and Gravy at McD's in Kentucky and McLobster Roll at a McD's in Maine. She didn't believe me! I had quite a shock when I traveled from my home state, Kansas, to Arizona for a friend’s wedding. We had just gotten off our flight and we were starving, so we went to grab McDs since it was there and quick. I tried to order a McChicken and they looked at me sideways. They didn’t even have that in AZ. I thought that was a staple everywhere. They offered me a “hot n spicy” instead- which was essentially the same thing, just a spicy version.

I worked at a McDonald’s in Hawaii for about 6 months and there’s also taro pie and haupia pie occasionally, depending on locations. Mine had haupia available all the time along with apple and the taro came and went. They all were fried and looked the same on the outside but the taro one had a creamy purple filling and the haupia had a creamy coconut filling. Both pretty popular. And also tourists always ordered the “hawaiian kona blend coffee” which was the only coffee we served anyway for our hot coffee, iced coffee, etc except I think it was actually from a coffee plant in Hawaii and not another mainland state. And then I think the last difference was the mcchicken. They serve a regular non spicy one whereas I believe most other states only offer the hot and spicy mcchicken. I prefer the non spicy but thats just me. Otherwise, I was used to all of these! And the saimin taste like instant noodles because it is. All we do is add hot water to it and serve it. Great video :)

Hi Emmy, we have the Local Deluxe Breakfast (Spam, Portuguese Sausage, Egg, and Rice) and Apple Pie here on Guam as well. So, not only Hawaii has it on their menu. It comes with a small tiny packet of the same things as well (soy sauce, salt, and pepper).

What we call "Portuguese sausage" in Hawaii is usually our Hawaiian version of linguica. Yes, one of my all time favorite breakfast meats and found in a lot of our recipes. @@HawaiiBlueMermaid at this moment, and it's been a few weeks, it's ONLY apple pies they are selling...they rotate usually between the haupia and taro pies along with the apple pies. Back in the 90s, they sold pineapple pies, and I thought THAT WAS THE BOMB ! The pies are made in a manufacturing plant in Kentucky I believe that McD Hawaii said a few months ago, as they were explaining why they (In Hawaii) continue to outsell all other USA McDs because of their fried pies.

I can't even count how many mornings I spent scarfing down rice, eggs, and Portuguese sausage on the way to school (not from McD's though). I went to a college in Oregon with a high population of students whose home state was Hawaii, so our dining hall had a lot of options for food that the Hawaiian students might miss being away from home. About every other week they would serve that plate lunch (scrambled eggs, rice, sausages, spam, and a sweet almost teriyaki-like sauce) in our dining hall and it was the BEST thing they served! It was always a good day when you walked in and saw that was what was for lunch!

In my day, a McD burger, fries and a drink (they all came in only one size) was 88 cents, and for the 12 cents left in your dollar, you could get a fried pie. I agree with the fried pies...should give you an option of them! After seeing your video about the peach mango one, I came up with a new dump cake. In 9x13 sprayed pan, I put a can of peach pie filling, and a can of mango pieces with half the juice drained off and mixed the mango with the pie filling. Took a pineapple cake mix, dry, and sprinkled evenly over the fruits. Then melted one stick of butter and drizzled over the cake mix covering as much as possible. Bake 350 for 30-45 minutes until golden brown. Delicious

Omgosh when we went, McDonlds was directly across from our resort, Alohilani Resort. We ate breakfasts a few times there. I only tried the Polynesian sausage it was different but good. I can’t wait to go back. Gr8 video 🙂
