Rumor has it that 7-Eleven Hawai'i is similar to konbinis, i.e. Japanese convenience stores, as it stocks tons of ready-made foods and Hawaiian-style classics like musubis and warm manapua. Come along as I taste 7-Eleven Hawaii-style. 🌺 New videos every Thursday and Saturday 8 pm EST.

@@crealkillr I think stussycat77 was more saying that most convenience stores here in the states don't carry anything near the quality of what Hawaiian ones do. I, myself, certainly am no stranger to buying something grab n' go from a convenience store. But, I do wish ours had such awesome stuff like these do and I wish it were better quality than it is.

It’s so nice to have someone who appreciates our food rather than someone who tastes our “weird food” for entertainment and talks bad about it. For us who grew up in Hawaii, 7-11 is definitely a staple. It’s convenient, it’s everywhere and the food is really good for the cheap price. Hope you enjoy your vacation!

fokiat What has that to do with whether I cook or not? I won’t eat any more if I had to buy food out than I would if I cook. It’s most likely that I would eat more home-cooked food than what I’d buy from a 7-11 store. Most of the food Emmy was eating was based on the Japanese diet. You don’t have nearly as many large Japanese as you do Hawaiians or Samoans. That food is a lot healthier than the fast food we have in the contiguous 48 states. Here the population is getting larger and larger every year. What’s the reason for that? Certainly not the food from 7-11. 😁

So, we spotted one by the road, got in, I looked around their food selection. I now want to visit Hawaii just for the foods your 7-Elevens sell. I live in Delaware and feel cheated that we don't get that shit here. None of our 7-Elevens sell that shit, and I can count the number of times I've shopped there with the fingers on one hand. Around here, the big deals are two regional convenience stores: Wawa and Royal Farms. The former is known for their subs, soups, and desserts. The latter is known for their fried chicken, hot dogs, burgers, and potato wedges (RoFo calls them "Western Fries").

Personally, I think hot sauce with Kalua Pork Cabbage is a big no no. But in hawaii we would use something called chilli pepper water on it, which is mixture of a locally grown small red chilli peppers, water, vinegar & salt. My go to at 7-Eleven would probably be the spicy ahi inari or a spicy ahi tuna sushi roll. I'm glad you got the opportunity to experience a Hawaiian 7 Eleven and were able to share it with the rest of the world.

That is one solution. I've heard of that stuff and it actually seems to help people who's glasses keep slipping. Or she could get actually properly fitted glasses... ^_~ I know she had a sponsorship for a website that sells glasses over the internet (good for her!) and I think those might be from there? It's good that that seems to be a more affordable way to get prescription glasses in the US, but it has that as a downside... I personally have only ever bought my glasses at an actual optician - that way I can test the fit out first in store, get a better picture of how they look on me and have them shaped perfectly to my face (they can heat up the frame there to make minor adjustments and they can change the settings of the little pieces that with a lot of glasses sit directly on your nose - sadly: no idea what these are called in english). I've been wearing glasses for well over 20 years now and I never have the problem of them slipping - I only know that from sunglasses that haven't been fitted... I think, if you actually need glasses to see all the time, investing in good ones if at all in the budget is a good choice. I'm wearing a pair of glasses for 5-10 years 18 hours a day, so they are allowed to be a bit more pricey but well-fitting for that IMO. Admittedly though, if you change your glasses often (either because you're still growing or your eyesight is changing more quickly or for fashion-reasons), that is no longer true... ^_^ But maybe something to consider? Where I live, I can just walk into my optician's store and have them fix the fit of my glasses for free as often as I want to...
@cheshirecatgrin7680
@cheshirecatgrin7680 5 жыл бұрын
I'm sure Emmy can afford an optician if she so chooses. For being a longtime glasses wearer, Jemima, I'm surprised you haven't experienced glasses slipping when you sweat. That only happens to me in summer or tropical places and that's why I wear contacts part time.
@Jemima1377
@Jemima1377 5 жыл бұрын
@@cheshirecatgrin7680 I'm sure she does. She might just like the sponsorship or the fashionable frames or just the possibility to switch between different glasses according to occasion... ^_^ (Or maybe she just doesn't mind the slipping.) Well, I can attest that - appart from unfitted sunglasses - my glasses never slip - no matter how much I move or sweat. I wear only frames that have those little kidney-shaped see-through bits right at the nosebed and if they are porperly shaped frames and those bits are adjusted perfectly, they don't slip. (When I get new glasses, sometimes in the first few days it happens until I go back and get them adjusted). I tried contacts too, but I'm too lazy for those - it takes me to long to get them in and out (maybe more practice would have helped, but after a couple of months it still took me too long for my liking - just grabbing a pair of glasses is hard to beat time wise ^_~) and the hassle is not for me. But I suppose if you do a lot of sports it would be much preferable with contacts. Also: another great solution against slipping glasses - contacts really don't go anywhere once they're in. =)
