Mcdoubles back again with a brand new video and today we're going to hop on our agi-based character and try the brand new DARK RANGER legendary worldforged enchant on Project Ascension and guys - it's AMAZING!
This new enchant aims to really utilize the brand new hybridization changes by giving you a full agi spec (at least in my case) that is able to seamlessly utilize spells such as Shadowbolt, Corruption, and Drain Life in conjunction with a Ranger playstyle to create the ultimate Dark Ranger class fantasy on World of Warcraft.
I wanted to get this video out ASAP because of how popular the build has become already on Day 2 of the new chapter for season 8 and I had so much fun playing it that I might even make another video for it soon. I plan to test out all of the new enchants that came with Chapter 2 so let me know what you'd like to see in the comments below and stay tuned!

Dark ranger build oh yeah! Just started dragonflight earlier. So far I'm enjoying the expansion, it does seem focused on the exploration aspect of the game and I love it. So probably when I get home I'm going to try out this build or stay Pure Shadow on my spell character. Who was once a Hydromancer, aptly named Hydrodeath.on the horde side of the thrall server. It's a fun spec for sure! Same category as Dragon Warrior though - should either be brought down a bit in terms of dps, or other Legendary Enchants should be given a buff to allow them to compete! -Xaquillen

To help with mana a bit, there's an RRE that restores 20% base mana on kill like the pally talent, but on a 10sec CD. Might be worth using in that free slot to help avoid OOM cases without an extra mana sustain skill

I'm glad to see this. I made a Dark Ranger build on live retail as a marksman hunter, but it's really not that impressive. So when I saw them on Ascension I knew I had to do it. I'm playing one on the League 4 server right now as a build draft and I'm loving it. I do question some of the ability choices they've made.. They seem determined to put Life Tap in every build. Dark Ranger does struggle with mana and doing damage until you get the actual Dark Ranger RE going, then it shoots up in efficiency. I'm pretty consistent second DPS in the mid 30s, only because the only AOE I have right now is Dark Artillery. I'm eager to hit 60. I want to keep the build and fine tune it outside the build draft limits.

I am with you. Super fun spec. Something about the playstyle is just nice. I will say that with just casual theory crafting I'm confused by some of the decisions people are making. INT Primary SP gear definitely should scale better. Devouring Plague and Wraith seem like a clear DPS loss taking up 2 epic RE slots. Explosive Shot + Shadow Propellent Epic RE is pretty amazing. At least for now though it seems like there is a good amount of variety for the build.

I was about to type in your previous video that I wanted to see the Dark Ranger and here you are! Amazing! I will definitely going to yoink everything. Also a quick warning. When you are trying to get the hood, there is a Worldforged Chest in front of the Stratholme dungeon in EP, before you pass the bridge, where the Necromancers spawn. I tried to loot it but failed because it bugged out. Why it bugged out? I had Loot-Bot summoned. So my key got used for nothing. Don't loot chests while you have Loot-Bot kids! Also, by Lore, Nathanos was the only outsider who managed to enter the ranks of High Elf Rangers. And him and Sylvanas fell in love. But tragically, they all died and became undead, never managed to follow their feelings. -Pigeon

Honestly having more fun with dark ranger leaning towards the hunter side rather than the warlock side. Probably not as good dps (haven't tested it in mythic+ or raids yet) but I'm enjoying it a lot. I have a question about White Walker now. Do I use cloth INT gear or plate STR/INT gear? And do I use STR as main stat (10% dmg incr with 2h) or do I use INT? It puzzles me how hybrids work now and how it scales?

Trying to gather Intel as well. I guess it depends which version you want to play. Hemo WoW Spam or SS with Ice Lance. For the first I guess STR stacking cause of the buff to cryo RE but not sure. Haven't had time to test yet, only did a small 3 minute pump on dummys and lost roughly 1k dps. But I did not change much except for mental quickness RE

Just thought I'd add my pennies: Basically, you can unbind W and S and rebind A and D to strafe left and right. We're not just reclaiming W and S but also Shift W, Shift S, Alt W, Alt S, Ctrl W and Ctrl S. 8 keybinds for your efforts here, and in perfect range. The reason for this is that turning with A and D is inefficient and slow, and where we're going, we don't want that. Strafing is all we need. Wanna backpeddle? NO. Strafe in the direction you wanna backpeddle. Instead of walking backwards slowly, you now run in the direction you want to go. Wanna go forwards? Simply hold left and right click. Your right hand is already on your mouse. Now if you wanna turn, you just move your mouse in the direction you wanna go. This is a difficult change as most have muscle memory to overwrite. Go out into the world and mess up as much as it takes. I personally used to solo a lot of dungeons, that was my training grounds. Now bind W and S to abilities. For example, on Project Ascension, it's not uncommon to see players picking up Blink, Invisibility, Disengage, Charge/Intercept, Shadowstep, Sprint etc. I recommend putting these there to begin with. Now back to your solo dungeons. You want to get to the point where you can run dungeons without accidentally hitting W or S. EXTRANOTE: Some people already use ESDF. You gain a lot of comfortable keybinds but I couldn't make my brain do this. EXTRAEXTRANOTE: To speed this up, a "cheat" you can use a piece of hardware which is essentially half a keyboard. I bought a Razer Nostromo during Cataclysm and it was great at helping me train new muscle memory. I believe these were renamed to Orbweaver, and now Tartarus. Of course, Razer are expensive, and there are plenty of devices that do something similar, although I don't know how many of them I could recommend over just using your keyboard. It also helps if you have bigger hands than I, as I struggled to reach the furthest buttons even with the keypad on it's smallest size. 😅

You should try seed of corruption off of nightfall triggers. That's what I use on my master of shadows guy and it improves the aoe a lot. This build is cool but it is a little disheartening that it seems to be similar to mos but better, like what that re would be if it was released today. / Shredder
