@Eric Estrada I’m old but not so old. For me the ideal tennis was the one of ‘90 and ‘00. A perfect compromise between technique, speed and strength. Today I see only speed and strength.

John Mc Enroe the legendary and skillful tennis left hand, for sure this guy inspired a lot of left-handed tennis players. I mean he was so good. You know sometimes I really can believe how good some of these old guys were already in tennis since back then. Top guy McEnroe🔥🔥

It could have been a legendary grass match if they had clashed in their prime. Still very enterteining, so different from the boring robots today.

Their 1984 semifinal was actually great. One of my favorite serve & volley matches to rewatch. McEnroe pretty much sleepwalked through the whole thing, but he still produced some legendary tennis along the way. Some of his return angles were downright unreal. And his volleying beautiful as ever, amidst some unfortunate sloppiness (particularly in the 3rd set). Overall, a classic display of grasscourt elegancy from both.

@@fundhund62 Oh yes I remember that 1984 Wimbledon semi! Totally agree with you.
@gaskellr442 жыл бұрын
100% disagree, the game is more interesting now hence why they changed the balls and the couts to stop the wham bam tym tennis as it got worse when Sampras was playing, now that was robotic, then the beautiful playing Federer came along and showed how it should be played and then the other 3 matched that play in their own, imitable way. And I am old enough to remember the 80s and 90s tennis.

A good tournament for Mac. Made the S/F (lost to Agassi) and I think won the doubles with Stitch...

@@cmjones83 well I had to l look him up on wiki ,we don't follow snooker here in the States - James Warren White MBE (born 2 May 1962) is an English professional snooker player who has won three seniors World titles. Nicknamed "The Whirlwind" because of his fluid, attacking style of play, White is the 1980 World Amateur Champion, 2009 Six-red World champion, 3 time World Seniors Champion (2010, 2019, 2020), 2019 Seniors 6-Red World Champion and 1984 World Doubles champion with Alex Higgins.

I really wanted to see McEnroe v cash in the 1984 us open final. But it wasn't to be unfortunately. Lendl saved a dramatic match point against cash in The US open semifinal in 1984.
@anthonymensingh19892 жыл бұрын
Actually pay cash was robbed by pour umpiring served a blistering ace down the middle t only to be called out in a very close match that got Lendl through Pat cash and John McEnroe final would of been a classic final Two of the best exponics of serve and volley players of that era which is far more entertaining than The robots of today that's when tennis was tennis love Anthony Fed ex lol

Two of the most distinct serving actions of that time.. Cash, slow and deliberate, mcenroe with that Lefty side winder!!! Mcenroes nike top that he wore in this tournament was my fave tennis top of all time, just ahead of the agassi Black, white and red for the French open the year before. Love the purple and green combo of the collar and sleeves and the small Nike logo on the chest. Amazing to think that mcenroe RETIRED from tennis after reaching the semi finals that year.. He could've won the title if he'd got past agassi at the age of 33.

Not to detract from a good win by McEnroe but I think Cash was recovering from a back injury, which meant he wasn't playing at his best.

Serve and volley at its best by two of the bet exponics of the net players of that era which is dying era not like boring baseline rallies by the robots of today not only was there games more exciting but there personalaties were much more carefree not robotic like the dull robotic players who turn me off give me the good old days when players were players and entertaining love Anthony Fed ex lol

I've seen Mcenroe best Pete Sampras and most would agree that Sampras was in a different league to Cash. Is day Mcenroe was far better than Cash - even at 33.

Wow, it's much more funny to see just two shots, that al kind of shots. Off course, who can disagree with that? 😅 backhand, forehand, dropshot, passing shot, lob...bs, nobody cares. Real tennis fans want to see two shots, period. Serve, and volley. Serve, volley, serve, volley, ace, first serve, second serve, double, serve, volley, serve, volley, ace, serve, volley, serve, volley....good old days, when tennis was an exciting and unpredictable game.
