It's awesome Todd pointed out how he can go back into the various forms and variations of characters and do figures on those, and I think that's on full display here where Shart actually has to read the card to know where the design came from. I think the audience here really is comic book fans and I think some of the older collector's will hopefully appreciate that. I'm happy with getting Sean Murphy wave, that Joker GTO was spot on and I hope the GTO Batgirl and Nightwing also get released

In that hellbat story you were right he did die and batman wanted Damian back so everybody tried getting him or the bat family and that was made to make him stronger when he fought darkseid or something but it drained his life away but in the end he ended up living and robin got superpowers . I think.

For some reason I thought that the Unchained Armor Superman looks like Mazinger Z or Great Mazinger shrunk down and with a Superman motif especially with the wings equipped. All Superman needs is a rocket punch. Hellbat Suit Batman looks like a really edgy version of Batman Beyond. edit: Also that Spiderman Mech Suit in the comparison part looks like Evangelion Unit 02

From the first time I saw the Hellbat figure I was a mark on any cool bat suits. I wasn’t even thinking about the Unchained suit bc he doesn’t have the weapons (that they even list on the card!!!) but I feel that they complement each other well for the price point, why not.

These look pretty cool but the lame thing is on the back of Unchained Supes, it SAYS "Superman dons an armor and an AXE" and then it doesn't provide the axe! I understand if there was too much plastic, but dang. Don't mention it on the back then lol.

I love McFarlane's take on these armored figures. I would love to see him do the Superman Armor from the Animated Series' last two episodes "Legacy" when Darkseid convinces Superman to attack Earth. The look was so cool and very Kirby-esque.

@salty dogg so underappreciated . Yes the paint was lacking but look at the sculpt! And the articulation wasn't that bad. I think people forget that McFarlane is still in the middle of a comeback. I repainted my Doom Slayer a bit and now it looks like a masterpiece haha

@salty dogg: Little of both but the primary reason was the soccer mom revolution of the early 2000s. A lot of “parents” (Mom’s) started complaining to the retailers that his figures were much too violent and gruesome to have on the shelf next to all of the other toys and a lot of them banded together to put a pressure campaign on the stores like Target, TRU & Walmart to stop carrying the figures or at the least, move them far away from all the other more traditional “toys”. McFarlane was told to play ball but he refused to water down his stuff so they all dropped his lines. He was only able to sell his stuff at that point at places like FYE, Suncoast, Virgin, Hot Topic and Spencer’s-so basically all boutique style stores in the malls. After 2005/2006, the only lines the big box stores would carry was hit sports stuff. For the next 10 years he just kind of meandered around doing odd job stuff but then struck big with his Halo line at 5in. Then he did big with his 5in TWD line. He got back in the 7in super detailed and sculpted game in 2016 with the “color tops” line and started producing more classic McFarlane stuff from a bunch of properties covering older categories he used to do like games, music and anime, as well as TV and movies. It was one all encompassing line and each figure was color coded and numbered (it was weird) but after 20+ figures he dropped the color coding and kept the numbering until about 45 or so. Then he went on a license buying spree and is now making a ton of smaller sub lines for each property and slowly stated to work articulation into stuff. Still kind of a hot mess with every line pretty much having different packaging and levels of articulation, even does some stuff in 6in scale like GOT and COD. Once he started doing fortnite figs though, he finally introduced super articulation and the line has been a huge hit. That gave him the juice to make a bid on the DC license and he now works in his super articulation standard into all lines. Finally, Todd confirmed there will be super articulated Spawn figures this year and he has plans to bring back tortured souls, monsters, dragons, military, movie maniacs, etc. I’m not holding my breath though so I’m not let down... Spawn is one of my all time favorite toy lines and have every single figure but Spawn Series 36 came out in 2006 and he’s only made TWO spawn figures since then so again, I’m trying to remain “cautiously optimistic” about a true return to form for Spawn waves. I hope he fucking delivers though!

Supes looks like a good figure, but a tad too Power Rangey for me, guess due to the bright colors, maybe would have looked better with some dark shading...
