Joe Flynn was a lot funnier than I would have thought. I suppose that's a testament to how well he played Captain Binghamton!

The main reason I tuned into McHale's Navy was to see Tim Conway..... These bloopers are classic.... Thanks for sharing them!

At 6:17 I loved the way Conway kept trying to poke Ernie Borgnine in the rectum with that gun . I bet Harvey Korman did not get that treatment on The Carol Burnett show years later .

A thought just crossed my mind, what if McHale's Navy and Hogan's Heroes were set in the same universe. I mean both shows were based in WW2 so why not.

He was a great comedic actor well before this, such as on The George Gobel Show and The Joey Bishop Show. He also worked on radio and was in the Special Services during World War II entertaining the troops.

Thank you for posting these videos! BTW, there is a misspelling in the title. The tv show was McHale’s Navy. Normally I wouldn’t have posted about spelling but it’s in the title and I’m not sure if the misspelling would affect a search for the show.

My Dad served on a tiny island, near Bougainville. They were supplied by a misfit PT squadron…their lifeline. He claimed that it was like watching newsreel footage. The PT crews often arrived drunk and wearing grass skirts. It makes me wonder about Hogan’s Heroes.

@@markdinkel-uh2je He spent 4 years on little Pitilu. In true Mchales navy tradition, they never saw or heard from the outside world. Once a day, the Japanese would fly over, strafe them, and make sure nothing was being built. They knew of those big engagements, because so many bodies floated up onto their beaches.

@@mkunes2502 he was in 836 Aviation Battalion built airstrips and roads. Dad said him and his buddies hit their foxholes in the pushup position on their finger tips to handle the bomb concussion. Something like that. Don't know if he was serious but said Washing Machine Charlie would fly over and drop 1 bomb every night. Dad said mice would climb up mosquito net while he was in bed. This is funny kind of. They were watching a movie and a guy was sitting up against a coconut palm and a coconut fell and hit his head and knocked him out cold.
