Last year for my birthday my wife got us tickets to a special screening of this followed by a Q&A with Mel Brooks. Everyone laughed all the way through the movie like we’d never seen it before. Then Mel came out and talked. He said making this was the best movie making experience he had. It was supposed to be a Q&A but I think they only got through 2 questions because Mel would start answering a question and lead him to talk about Gene or Cloris or Madeline and it’d lead him to tell another story. He was great. He realized it took forever to answer the first question so he let the audience decide if we wanted him to stick to short answers and more questions or did we want him to talk about whatever he wanted? We were overwhelming in letting Mel talk about whatever he wanted and he talked for over an hour and a half. It was fantastic!

I also saw an interview with him in which he said that they only had about half a movie when they finished with the scripted material so he had every one ad lib scenes; therefore, half the movie was based on just the comic genius of the actors.

Saw this movie with my father when it first came out. I was a senior in high school. My dad was a big Nelson Eddie and Janet MacDonald fan. When Madeline started singing "Oh sweet mystery of life", he fell out his chair laughing. One of my favorite memories of my father. Still miss him after 23 years. Hard to believe I'm almost as old as he was when he passed.

Love this movie, the characters, their wit,and Mel Brooks is a comic genius, surrounded by a cast of comic geniuses, playing with a story that was meant to be dark, but imbuing it with endless laughter! One of my favs for sure! Reminds me of Abbott& Costello meets Frankenstein , enthralling!!! 👍💀👍

This is priceless! I've always loved watching outtakes since I was a kid, and this is great! I've never seen these at all before! One knows everyone is professional and doing their best, but sometimes between the script material, the chemistry between the actors, and the long days of working, it becomes difficult not to crack up! And we love the actors all the more for it! Thank you so much for posting!
