I watched the first episode on black and white tv when McHales navy was aired. As an 8 year old it was terrific because back then a kids life revolved around playing soldiers and that sort of thing. I still love the inane things that were portrayed in this show. Thanks for bringing it back to life. From and old fart. 👍🏻🇦🇺😁

Yes it was a clean show. A lot of suggestive things, but in it's self it was clean (there is a censorship board of the time). This show was a part of my early TV experience. Viewed it in the early 60's. Ran across it again recently when looking into my tv past. Thank You. Please remember that it is a TV show and it is just that.

The shaking is because the uploader ticked Auto-Stabilize. When you do that uploading movies it makes everything wavy as it compensates for the moving people.

Jim Crow: That is ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS!! WHO NEEDS that crap??? Maybe it's because all the t.v. shows today are shot with a very wiggly camera...ALSO EXTREMELY annoying!!!! I had two semesters of t.v. production classes in college in the mid `80's and they taught us to hold the camera as still as possible!! A few months later, every show on t.v. looks like it was being shot by a camera man having an epileptic fit!!!! I REFUSE to watch shit like that!!!
@danielstewart71635 жыл бұрын
@@RedVynil i remember that shit. They had cameras that kept moving and showing shit that wasn't even relevant to the shot. It was like some teenagers making a home movie. It got so annoying that you had to turn it off most of the time.

What was with the camera in this episode ? Were they messing with the audience ? At some points it seems like the camera was handheld (impossible back then... the cameras were huge), and other times it looked like the set was unstable and shaky as hell. Then again it looked like the cameraman was messing with the focus. I felt like I was watching this through the worst of a bad case of malaria ! Weird.
@mikef37903 жыл бұрын
I don't think it was the camera. What we saw would never get played on a national TV network. This had to be problem caused by a bad print of this episode. Out of six episodes (season 1, episodes 1-6) this is the first episode to have these problems. I wonder what the rest of the collection looks like.

When I served as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy and knew of an enlisted man who secretly married a young Navy nurse. When our commanding officer found out he had the enlisted man immediately shipped to Diego Garcia on isolated duty in the Indian Ocean. The nurse received orders to Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. True story - the Navy seriously frowns on fraternization between enlisted personnel and officers.
