This is what KEITH RICHARDS said about Paco de Lucia: «You say I'm a guitar legend. You have no idea. There are only two or three guitarists who can be considered legends. And above all of them, is Paco de Lucía.»

It was Mark Knopfler who said that.

RIP Paco DeLucia RIP Larry Coryell. Larry is a part of the soundtrack of my life. He plays on some of the greatest jazz/ fusion albums ever made. Along with Johnny Mac of course

Pioneers of shredding . Lagoya , the Montoyas , Segovia & others blazed the trail . Flamenco guitar is as lovely and tonal as it is thoroughly soulful and virtuosic . Yamandu Costa (Brazilian) living Maeatro is well worth a deep dive .

Now you're getting too the good stuff! DiMeola & McLaughlin were pretty much the 2 guitarist that paved the way for Vai, Malmsteen, Satriani, Johnson, Moore & others. Check out Race with Devil on Spanish Highway by DiMeola or something from The Mahavishnu Orchestra or Return to Forever. Still hoping you get back to The Doobie Brothers!

This is Mediterranean Sundance Written by Al DiMeola
@seraiharper55532 жыл бұрын
Half of it is Mediterranean Sundance. The other half, which the track starts with is Entre Dos Aguas, a flamenco rumba Paco first recorded in Spain in the 70's. I bought the album when I was there then, and the original was a traditional flamenco guitar piece. It got jazzed up when he collaborated with John and Al in 1981.

This song also goes by the name "Mediterranean Sundance". While other versions might be tighter than this marvel, Larry Coryell brings some difference to the collaboration, which makes it unique from the others, which you really must also hear.

This song is called "Mediterranean Sundance" ... "Entres Dos Aguas" is a completely different song. Also, where is John McLaughlin? This video was definitely mislabeled. The best version of this song is by John McLaughlin, Paco de Lucia and Al Di Meola. I saw them do it live in the early 1980s and they were astounding! Much tighter than this version.
@handzar64022 жыл бұрын
It's a combination of both. Only the start is Mediterranean Sundance, the rest is either Entre Dog Aguas or improvisation.

John McLaughlin(Ma-GLOCK-lin) was absent here. Paco de Lucia(loo-CHEE-uh)RIP, the flamenco player and Larry Coryell turn in a fine performance of this. I saw McLaughlin, de Lucia and Al DiMeola in 1982-3? and was most impressed and entertained by opener Steve Morse(Dixie Dregs, Deep Purple), both for his technique, and most for the harmonic beauty and great heart of his compositions. He also stood out, imo, when he joined the other three for the finale/encore. McLaughlin blew my mind almost a decade earlier touring 'Love, Devotion, Surrender', a collaboration with Carlos Santana. Carlos was Carlos. Mahavishnu JM was godly, prompting one reviewer to speak of the "sense of nobility" in his playing. Despite his flawless technique, DiMeola always left me cold, I always found Coryell more interesting, at least.

Could you please react to a couple of songs for me. I know you'll enjoy them and you'll probably be the 1st to react to them. The 1st is from a group called Potliquor and is called "Cheer" It's from 1972. Great vocal, drums, guitar, and horns. The 2nd is a Brenda Lee rendition of "If You Go Away" that is filled which so much emotion that one might end up in tears. If was released on the "Johnny One Time" LP in 1969. I really enjoy your show and the sincerity shown in your reaction. Thank you.
