Props to Al for admitting that even though you’re a great shop/fabricator there is still a learning curve that goes along with every build. It’s not a matter of doing it right the first time, it’s a matter of a finished product that you took away a learning experience from and the customer is going to be happy with the the level of professionalism that went into the build.

My favorite thing about this channels videos is the honesty. Being able to say "I made a mistake" is not all that common these days. Everyone makes mistakes, it's about how you deal with it after the fact that matters. Thank you for sharing your builds with us. I always learn something new!

Take note kids! This should be shown as a teaching video to anyone starting out in the industry and life in general! I used to train apprentices in the past and you are often not just training them technical skills but how to conduct themselves as people. A man as capable and knowledgeable as Al, willing to honestly assess his performance, admit where mistakes were made and learn the lessons. Well done for being you Al! As a fellow mechanic myself, It sucks that a lesson I've often repeated learning, is that you can't entrust others to lighten your load if you want a result you're happy with. Even people that specialise in the one area you have assigned seem to fail on a fundamental level causing a roll on effect as you found in this one. I've convinced myself many times, "it'll be fun working with other people", "they seem to be the industry standard in this area" etc etc. Despite 5 star reviews, great pictures of work, all the right things being said when the job is discussed, you pick it up and it looks beautiful but it's functionally junk! Love your content Al and Woody!

Self critiquing is only way one gets better at their craft Meeting a customers expectations and industry standards is the minimum not the best you could have done. Im a sparky and rarely to I look back at a job and think that is the best I could of done despite the customer always being happy There is always somewhere where I could of saved time or done something better Over 30 years as a tradesman and I am still learning from myself and more importantly from colleagues. The day you think you know everything is the day become shit at what you do

I don't think anyone will get butt hurt but no Dyno anywhere is 300whp off unless it's totally out of calibration... I think he was just being sarcastic .. I mean there are variances in the type of Dyno if you're using a load-bearing Dyno or not .. Most are used just for tuning but if you want to see how much power your new parts are making it's nice to have the car dynoed before and after so you know if the parts are actually working as desired.... but to say that a car in the United States with the same mods make 600-horsepower supposedly vs. There in Australia makes 300 horsepower who said that?? cars in the United States with the same engine and modifications make 600 horsepower to begin with?? I think he was just being sarcastic and no one's going to take that seriously what he was saying.. I think most people that know these engines and know what they can make power-wise and can sense his frustration... not for what the engine is able to do but what people comment here on KZbin and elsewhere.

@@stoneshrink well I agree with you I mean over the years I've had my vehicles on the dyno of various types hundreds of times but people that are really using the dyno for what they're really for and say that they don't care what the numbers read are liars because everyone likes to see a high-horsepower number but to say that in America that they're throwing around numbers that are 300 horsepower off I think that's just being sarcastic.

To convert Strayan to Murican dynoredoos, first you need to divide kw by 3 drop bears multiplied by a bald eagle then divided again by 7.6666. The size of the bald eagle and aggressiveness of the drop bears usually means a septic dyno reads higher than one bathed in the glow of the southern cross. It's a law of physics.

I had to change the both track control arms on the Head of Departments BMW E30 because he didn't have a clue!! They only knew what they had read in a book and only 1 of them had actualy worked in a garage as a mechanic! This is my 37th year in the trade and i learn something new off Alan everytime i watch his stuff.. Im sure many many more than me do too.. Cheers Alan... and a Happy New Year to everyone..

That is a very beautiful build. Don't listen to all the haters, honestly you have given good info to what should be taken into consideration on an early Nova.
