Janis was simply amazing, I absolutely loved her style and the way she didn't conform to anyone else's ideals. This song is absolutely a classic and though other people have sung it, no one can sing it like her. I have so many good memories of listening to her during my teenage years. Thanks for the trip back down memory lane!

@kimr3729 Itbis a fantastic song, Kim! I am glad you enjoyed it. You are so right. Janis definitely marched to the beat of her own drummer and that is what made her so remarkable 🥰

Love everything she did. "Piece of My Heart", "Ball and Chain"...so many. Also Kris wrote some great stuff for himself and others! Think I mentioned before, Fraser Loveman (British Mod Beats) played organ with her and played with many bands. He was from St Catharines and in his later years taught history of popular music at Niagara College. Wish I had known at the time! He died in 2018.

Hey Linda, you are so right. She had so many great songs....accomplished so much in her short career/life. Yes you mentioned him before but I don't believe that I knew he taught at Niagara College. What a cool local connection to you that is 🥰

Pearl was released posthumously. She died October 4th 1970, while recording it. She did not finish. The album came out January 1971.

Thanks for this Sue - Janis was always one of my favourites and Pearl was one of my favourite albums from the 70's. ❤ If you want to check out a singer who is very close to Janis reincarnated, you should look for Karise Eden. She was the winner of the Voice Australia in 2012 and her audition performance of James Brown's "It's a Man's World" will blow you away. She was only 19 years old at the time and she managed to get all 4 judges to turn in the first few seconds of the song. They also said that they thought she must be an old soul in a young person's body.

Janis put Kris on the map by recording this song, reported to be a gift, sadly she passed ,as you said, before PEARL was released, what a voice, what a tune. Two legends needed more time together.
