The little glasses at 4:42 are actually vintage eye wash cups. You can use them with water saline or medicated washes. You just look down into them with the solution and then fit it over your eye to keep it open to allow the solution to work. That's why one of them actually has a little glass eye looking back at you, which is kinda creepy imo.

My mother genuinely loves this house. She actually called me over to look at it when she first found it because she liked it so much. The only reason why she hasn't done anything like this to her house is because I live here too and will inherit it one day. But that doesn't stop her from having some fun. Every wall is painted a different colour and there are paintings, mirrors, fairy lights and clocks all over all them, there are cabinets full of trinkets, gemstones and dragon figures. Above the cabinets in the kitchen are a whole bunch of teapots that are painted or vintage. She has 'swirly whirly' wind sculptures in the garden along with a pot tower she made. She has a few ponds with fountains and one of them has fish bowls turned upside down on top and filled with water so the fish can swim up into them.... she's just about to start work on a life size steapunk tardis for her office. I'm sure there's more but I don't really look at our house anymore... The couple rooms of the house that are mine to decorate are, as she would put it "all beige and empty, it's horrible"

This man is actually a great example of showing the difference between a hoarder and a collector. He expanded his home to better showcase his collection while still being a functional home. It suits his needs perfectly and obviously makes him very happy. This is his dream come true. Many hoarders have the desire to create something resembling what this guy has accomplished, but the disease of hoarding keeps them actually doing it. (His tour-giving style is definitely cringe though, I agree.)

@100GTAGUY
@100GTAGUY Жыл бұрын
@@JWildberry you could also apply medicated eye solutions in the same way, just at that point they're probably not using them to flush out dirt or something. I figure this was the most effective way to medicate an eyeball prior to glass/rubber droppers being common. Works fine for both uses though, granted nowadays you're probably only going to get eye meds prescribed in a dropper bottle. I used to have to rinse my eyes out using a cup the same way until I finally got a new kitchen faucet where you could pop the head out and aim it as you please. It's actually quite nice when you do get something in your eye, you can keep em both closed and reduce eye movements and don't have to fumble around for the glass and fill it. Just blindly feel your way to the sink, pull the faucet down, invert it and turn the water on, and rinse as necessary.

I feel like this is so true, if we were around when Shakespeare or da Vinci was alive we’d think they were assholes. Artist and especially protégés minds work different and it’s very normal for them not to communicate the same way or come off as cold. There’s definitely a reason for the saying “ don’t meet your hero’s” has been around so long. We put people on pedestals and forget their human beings, and before the last century and a half we were literally almost all sleeping on hay or festher stuffed sacks, I would be in the worst mood.

Ken just so you know the first glass things you saw in his collections were old fashioned eye wash cups. They were not shot glasses, if you had like a stye in your eye or some other infection, you'd fill these with "eye wash" then lean over put the eye wash cup up with water or eye wash in it, against your eye firmly, then with it held against your eye you bring your head up and tilt your head back and "wash" your eye by blinking really fast with the wash around it. That's why it's eye shaped and you can hold it hard against your eye to keep the liquid in......idk if I'm explaining it well. We had these in our house growing up that's why I know how they're used. Also it's weird that he's collecting them.....just seems like germ collecting....ugh.

I love this house. It's Eclectic and if Ken spent time on Houzz or something he would see the decorating style is getting to be very popular. People are tired of cookie-cutter designing or minimalism, and even though there are a lot of unnecessary things in this house, the fact that it's organized and not just heaped in boxes and in piles on the floor is the difference between hoarding and collecting. The man is a human magpie!

The thought of dusting that house makes me want to bury myself in a hole. I hope (and also suspect) that the creator made it in such a way that dusting isn't that difficult. Like hopefully most of that stuff is bolted or glued down. The design is fun and uniquely personal. That's a win in my book.

The “shot glasses” are eye wash cups. That’s why there’s an eyeball in one of them. They’re not as common now so he probably collects them as antiques. I actually just bought one because I had one as a kid and forgot how useful they are lol. EDIT: for those confused, it’s for rinsing your eyes if they’re irritated or have something in them etc. Back before we had 30 types of eye drops that you could just pick up at the store lol You just fill with clean water and put it over your eye and just open your eye and blink. They’re made to fit snug against your eye so you don’t get water everywhere.
