Same for Sicily and Southern Italy, however Sardinian is the language other Italian understand the least if we exclude Non-Romance minorities. Standard Italian is helpful in Central Italy however, especially Tuscany (Standard Italian is based in literary Tuscan), and also in northern Sardinia where they speak Corsican dialects instead, Corsican is closer to Tuscan and Italian than any other regional language of Italy.

I literally cannot describe how impossible it is for her to replicate / shred all these dialects. After watching this video twice, I'm still completely incredulous - what an AMAZINGLY talented women. My Grandmother's people were from Emden and my grandfather came to the USA from his home in Wunstorf. I am almost all German, but despite both my grandparents speaking German, they did not teach their children because of World War II. My mother said my grandfather was very very shy about speaking German publicly, and would only speak it during the war if he was with two of his close German friends/neighbors in Houston, Texas and if they were secure inside the house. It was considered dangerous to speak German during the war, as I am certain you can appreciate. Then, after that - it was too late to teach the children.

If emancipated women are addressed as "Fräulein" by a male person, he might well get addressed as "Herrlein" in return.

Köstlich! Herzerfrischend dargestellt.

Being Italian, I can identify many Italian dialects, and where they come from, maybe I can distinguish some Spanish and some of its variations, but to hear you speak different Germanic dialects, for me you are always speaking the same language (which I don't understand )

I guess in some dialects like those from the Ruhr/Köln and that from Berlin, the general tone and melody doesn't change much (for a non-native speaker's ears anyway). But in dialects that have massive shifts in consonants like Bavarian and Saxon, you should hear a difference. I mean, maybe it helps that I speak Italian to a certain degree, but comparing Furlan to Standard Italian to Calabrese/Siciliano (Sicilianu >.

Goodness me! This reminds me of all the time I spent learning Italian and when I went there they all spoke dialect - except Tuscany and Umbria. I couldn't even understand what my girlfriend's family were saying. Very entertaining video. Thank you.
