Just ordered this model for my conservatory after purchasing the Meaco Arete 12L model which is fantastic. I dont have much condensation in the conservatory so the Junior model should be ok. My other dehumidifier is on the landing and does the entire house. My best buy ever! No more wet windows. Thanks for the great video 😊

Just bought a Meaco Arete 12L (the 10L version would be ideal for your conservatory IMHO), we use it for drying laundry and when that's dry we open all doors, set it on 55% and let it 'do' the whole house. Ideally another unit downstairs would probably be perfect for us, heating is set at 18C but it definitely feels warmer than that. Now, all radiators are free to heat the rooms and also they're not putting the humidity into the air from drying the clothes on them.

We use our Meaco to dry clothes too. Thanks for watching 👍

I have been experimenting with dehumidifiers since a broken pipe on my water supply. Started with compressor type and moved on to this desiccant type. My conclusion is that every home should have one or perhaps both. Get a hydrometer and 50% humidity’s the sweet spot. So if you’re reading is regularly above 60% you need a dehumidifier. Dry air feels warmer and cheaper to heat so a dehumidifier will probably save you money in the long run. FYI I haven’t put the central heating on this winter as an experiment and cost saving exercise. Use heated blankets and my DD8. Okay it’s dropped to 6 degrees C as a minimum at night, but never above 60% humidity. I only have electricity and my current monthly bill is around £100 per winter month paying 30p per kwh and 50p a day standing charge (What for I don’t know 😂)

The unboxing bit was awesome, lol. I have some Unibond Aero 360 dehumidifiers, they're not electric. While they do collect water, they don't really seem to make much difference to the humidity levels in the room.

You can probably feed the plants with the excess water too

They work great but mine broke down twice in 2 years I have now bought a pro breeze 10l desiccant and it's working great but time will tell.

I have a challenge dehumidifier, very surprising the amount of water it guzzles, one of the best things I ever bought does a great job, no matter what the weather always open windows in each room for a couple of hours, then I put dehumidifier in each room for a couple of hours I've been doing that now ever since had a problem with mould three years ago 😁

It says the machine switches off for 30 mins and comes back on to monitor humidity. Mine can run for 2 or 3 hours straight with out stopping. Also seems to dry out nose and throat when it's on in the room
@SinsBird Жыл бұрын
It switches off only when it reaches the target relative humidity. How many drops have you set? Should be one for a start.
@fortune461 Жыл бұрын
@@SinsBird hi I use it on the one fan option with the 2 droplet thumbs up, it takes the water from the air alright but could run for hours
@SinsBird Жыл бұрын
@@fortune461 1 drop 60%, 2 drops 50%, 3 drops 40% humidity. Do 1 drop if 2 drops feels too dry for you. I only use 2 drops when I need to dry out spilled liquids, otherwise it would be a waste of electricity. You should look at the windows, if there is no condensation at 1 drop then it is the setting that you want.

Brilliant review. Thinking of getting this for my conservatory which also houses drying laundry in winter. Is it safe to leave on all night in eco mode or full mode? Never used one before
@NashRathbone10 ай бұрын
We leave ours on 24/7 in either mode. Once the unit is happy it has dried everything it will shut down until it detects more moisture. Thanks for watching 👍👍👍

I could definitely use one! I will search to see if they make a US version. Is the dessicant something that uses less power than the Freon units of old?

I use mine on 1 speed fan, 2 droplet thumbs up mode. I set it for 8 hrs last night 22.45 and my wife went down at 6.00, said she was coughing and got sick it was like tier gas. I can't understand as I wasn't downstairs. The machine does smell, the rooms all bone dry. Is it possible to leave this on too long?
@randomness05110 ай бұрын
The smell is just from the zeolite as it absorbs odours. The smell is from your house being re released into the atmosphere. Mine smelled for a long time too after I first got it, like a musty smell. I have mine on 24/7 from September to May

Something must be causing humidity in the conservatory. Do you use it for drying clothes? What heating system do you have in there?
@NashRathbone4 жыл бұрын
We have no heating in there but Mrs Rathbone has a very large collection of houseplants in there. Thanks for watching and stay safe 👍

I picked up one of these a couple of weeks back, along with a Meaco ABC 10L compressor dehumidifier. What I've noticed so far comparing the two types - The DD8L uses twice as much electricity as the ABC and kicks out a little heat when running. I understand this is to be expected with a desicant model - The DD8L is significantly lighter than the ABC and is easier to move around rooms - As highlighted in the video, the filter cover is a pig to put back on. Not good, as the instructions advise to clear the filter regularly. The lugs will more than likely break at some point - The DD8L pumps out a smell vaguely like burning plastic at times. This is mentioned in the instructions as being to be expected. - The ABC is significantly quieter. It's a lot less obtrusive when running overnight in a bedroom - The ABC is cheaper Personal conclusion so far - the ABC is a better general use model and significantly cheaper to run continuously. The DD8L wins in terms of portability and heating effect if needed
