@thomass7894 жыл бұрын
I don't think he was wiping tears from his face, I think he was pretending to continually dry his face off, as a rib to tease Slaughter about his unintentionally spitting on people when he talks to them because of his lisp. It was a known thing back in the 80's that Slaughter would unintentionally have spit flying out of his mouth during promos and the boys would joke about it. I forget who, but in one of the shoot videos someone was joking that they use to want to wear goggles when talking to Slaughter, because he would lisp-spit often. LOL

Mean Gene cracking up at Iron Sheik’s antics is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. I’m so honored to have gotten to do a promo with Mean Gene myself.

None of you will ever see this, but after the recording stopped, Gene laughed hard and said that was great. At that time I had never seen any footage of him cracking up during or after a promo, and it was so awesome seeing him enjoy it so much.

True, but think when the goofing around stops the thousands of promos Gene had to do over the years for every market, the same match-ups, holding the mic up to the same guys for 40 house shows you have to be enthusiastic about. Everyone I've heard on podcasts from the old days said that interview day was a looong day.
