I think someone made a trailer that might have been fake that was Mean Girls 2 but Lindsey Lohan and the Plastics were all like middle aged moms and they had kids in highschool. The "Mean Girls" were basically just the Plastics again. I wasn't sure if it would be good because of Regina. At the end of the movie it was like she didn't care about popularity anymore because of her involvement with sports.
@xanderotp4 жыл бұрын
That's surprisingly fascinating that Lindsay Lohan would go for a mean girls 2. Don't get me wrong, I felt like Lindsey, like her character Cady we're just so toyed with. I mean Lohan started off as a child actress used to entertain till she became an adult and entered the gateway of vices that are frowned upon like certain children of acting had went through, then finds redemption with rehab & religion. Don't you think this is tragically ironic? And Lizzy Kaplan is nice, but I really hated her character Janis very much.

@@xanderotp Janice is only a bad character if you give her the accountability of an adult. She's rude sometimes but she was stabbed in the back by her best friend and she's apprehensive to Cady at first because she likes her instantly but doesn't want to get fucked over again. She's angsty and maybe too crude but she's playing a teen and I could think of a few girls that were just like her in my highschool growing up. I was fourteen in hs when this came out and I found every character to be totally real and believable.

Yvanna Warneke okay get off your high horse. Disney channel movies/DCOM movies are the best in the entire world and I don’t quite frankly care what you think bc I know your wrong. You say Disney channel is the worst and then you say you love two DCOMS. Sooo you can’t have both. The fact you only like those two tells me you haven’t watched them all or had an awful childhood and for that I’m sorry. DCOM movies are amazing and so much better than this movies bull shit- they have songs, plot, and actual good characters and love stories. you don’t like them, fine but they don’t suck. Ya sure some of them are cringe and the new ones are pathetic but DCOMS are still amazing and also you probably haven’t even spent any time watching descendants for the plot, songs, and cute love story instead of for the somewhat cringe parts so you can’t talk. Fine radio rebel is kinda cringe and it’s maybe not the best acting but it’s a cute story and brought joy to many kids. To say all DCOMS such is pathetic. I can agree however that you did list two amazing movies but you should checkout more DCOMS bc you clearly haven’t seen the amazing ones(Halloween town and high school musical are amazing but your missing so many others) I feel sorry for you.
@meganmcleod61524 жыл бұрын
Yvanna Warneke well clearly you don’t appreciate good music and DCOMS are the best but I don’t rlly feel like talking to you anymore bc you don’t seem like a person who accepts other ppls ideas so all I’m gonna say is yes I have seen amazing acting but that doesn’t make “bad acting” in your opinion bad- I love DCOM movie, not all of them are amazing but most of them are and if you really have seen all DCOMS and don’t like lemonade mouth idk what to say to you. Fine don’t like them but don’t say they such bc they don’t and especially not in comparison to this trash. Point is an amazing actor in a movie for me doesn’t take anything away from a different movie.

i'm starting to get really annoyed by these movies that wanna be feminist by having the girl main character do more traditionally male things and call out the men around her for being sexist, while also being sexist to the other girls (and by extension, herself) at the same time. the main character in this movie was absolutely right to fight that guy who was trying to harass her and many women DO experience sexism in their male-dominated hobbies/jobs/activities. but like you said, whether the writers added all of this to story to comment on sexism or to make it seem like she's the exception and that she's "Not Like Other Girls" is debatable. if the movie wants to comment on how even the most feminist or 'empowered' girls still can have issues with internalised misogyny and how we all need to work on it, then fine, but movies like this just try to portray her calling other girls sluts (unprovoked) and making her seem bad for simply wearing nicer or more 'girly' clothes, then the movie is doing a bad job, sure, mean girls original also portrays cady's evolution into more glamorous/girly clothes as 'bad', but that comments on how girls hold themselves to extremely high standards.
@JinlongTheGoldenDragon3 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right and that's the reason the "I'm not like other girls" trope is being deconstructed today. Almost every girl I know, including myself, has had this phase, which makes me think if all of us are not like other girls, then the other girls don't exist, and actually we're the other girls. The other girls are a strawman, a reflection of what it means to be a woman, not literal people. It took me some time to realize how incredibly hypocrite and sexist the "I'm not like other girls" way of thinking is. It's thinking you're superior to the "other girls" who do traditionally feminine things. The "other girls" wear pink, wear nail polish, like to watch bad romance movie, etc. And that's bad because? Because everything that's feminine is lesser, and being feminine makes you weak, stupid and lesser. And what's that? Misogyny. And I'm "not like other girls" because... I wear jeans instead of skirts, like woodworking, like football, used to play with hotwheels instead of barbies. So I'm better than the other feminine girls because I'm more masculine, in other words. The original mean girls had a great message that was really ahead of its time, remember that speech in the gym? That girls should stop calling each other bitches and sluts because it just makes it ok for guys to call them that. Mean Girls' final message was about supporting each other as women and sisterhood because it's hard enough being a woman already. You're wrong for thinking you're superior to other girls in any way, wether you wear pink on wednesdays or you'd so quirky and edgy and not like other girls. This movie misses the mark so badly but I remember it has disney channel written all over it, it makes sense. I used to be so harsh with myself and feminine things. When I was younger I wouldn't even entertain the thought of dressing in pink or wearing makeup or even enjoying these things. Nowadays I discovered I like wearing dresses and a little makeup here and there. I kind of like romance movies and that's not bad, it's what I like and I shouldn't shame others for liking what they like either. The point isn't to "not be like most girls" it's that sometimes, I am like most girls, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Mean Girls was a perfect analogy of a dictatorship with the Regina as the leader, Gretchen as her right hand and state surveillance and Karen as the unthinking follower. We had Janis as the scheming revolutionary that was actually just as morally corrupt. And inexpierienced Cady was easily caught in the middle with her desire to find friends, but also the goal of winning over her crush, ending up both being manipulated and being a manipulator. And then we have... this.

Part of the charm of the original was that Cady was immediately likable as the innocent new girl naïve to the ways of modern social interaction. She reminded of being the new kid in middle school when the “popular” girls try to mold you into what they want, hence the beginning of the whole “clique” age. This girl in the 2nd movie is immediately a snob and is “wise than most girls” already with no character development at all.
@cranberryrosebud2 жыл бұрын
Speaking of, there's something I noticed: Jo (the girl from the 2nd one) is pretty much the opposite of Cady - Cady knows absolutely nothing about normal high school, so it's easy for her to fall into the popularity trap. It's one of the main points of the movie. Jo, on the other hand, is that girl who's been to a million different schools before - why exactly did she so easily become a Mandi clone?? She's the one who should spot those signs from a mile away, how did these two polar-opposite characters have the same experience? Jo's even the one who does the whole "types of people and their cars" thing from the beginning of the movie, so it's like she's already an expert on cliques and wouldn't fall into that mindset. It also makes Jo much less likeable (as if she wasn't unlikeable before) since she should clearly know better. She's kind of like Janis in that she holds herself above everyone from the beginning, though the difference is nothing that we know of happened to Jo before the events of the movie, whereas Janis at least had a personal hate for Regina to serve as motivation. It's like they didn't understand the original movie or something...

The original makes a feminist point which is to not call other girls derogatory names that a specific to women, and then this movie literally has the protagonist using the word "bitch" multiple times and pins women against each other with no lesson at the end. Not to mention the purity culture and slut shaming which is also sexist. And the disgusting guys who we are supposed to root for as romantic interests. Did the writers even watch the first movie??
@imthebossmermaid364810 ай бұрын
Yup, not to mention the fact that the original movie shows that the Plastics aren't actually as bad as they're seen as at first. They are shown to have depth and sympathetic qualities beyond just being spoiled pretty bitches. Hell, Karen is literally shown hanging out in Janis' social circle in the end of the movie! And still waves at Regina as she walks past! Meanwhile in this movie, all the girly girls are reduced to plastic bimbo Barbie dolls with no kindness or complexity. I'm not saying the original movie was perfect, but it still had a genuine and important message to send, and it did better at delivering it, too. Meanwhile the message of this movie is "lol girls who like girly things are so dumb and bitchy and slutty, only girls who hang with the guys are worthy of respect, and also all girls can't help but catfight for male attention." To the point where it's literally spelled out for us at the end of the film. It's gross.

If the sequel was like a backstory to back when Janice and Regina were friends and back when Regina was a kid. And how Gretchen, Regina and Karen grouped together and became the plastics. Or for example, it could actually show the scene where Regina threw a doll house down the stairs so her cousin couldn’t have it. (It was a story she told Cady in a deleted scene.) That would have been a good sequel.
