This proves that Louisiana Jambalaya is from W. Africa - not Spain!
@trzagor27694 жыл бұрын
The word JAMBALAYA is an old mandinka word for conviviality!! Any word with YA at the ending become an adjective in mandinka!! the same thing goes for KUMBAYA which has many definitions depending on circumstances. The Mandinka word KUMBA literally means Big Head. Adding YA makes it an adjective changing the meaning into AUTHORITY or ARROGANCE depending on circumstances.Kumbaya MALO: Malo meaning SHAME in mandinka can also become adjective by adding YA (MALOYA).

How much rice and water did you use ?
@toufajoof94624 жыл бұрын
niyah d Depends on the rice. If it is broken rice that cooks fast, for a litre of sauce, it should cook like 3 cups of rice

How much rice did you use for the 3L of water? I cannot seem to get the ratio correct! 😢 Thanks
@amzolinek5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the amount of rice and vegetables that has to boil.so just eyeball the water quantity
@toufajoof94624 жыл бұрын
Remember the 3L water simmered for an hour! I used about 4 cups of rice

Man you have to try it with the jasmine broken rice. It gives it such a wonderful flavor and texture.

I’m going to try this your way minus the snail. Everyone else I’ve watched has put soooo much sodium in there’s, and I can’t do that.
@abbieray43096 жыл бұрын
Remind me never to enter a cooking competition against you. Sauce added at three separate stages 😂. What could be used instead of tamarind and the snail?
@toufajoof94625 жыл бұрын
Abbie Rayi It shouldn’t make a difference without them. The tamarind is just to have a tangy side (personal preference) which you can substitute with anything tangy
