@@aabracadavra I got to disagree. I'm vegan too, I understand how hard it is to hear people say shit like that and how unsettling it is but I tend to find people who say this are usually defensive and over exaggerating their point and more over are products of a society that enforces these beliefs. Most vegans start their lives where these people are, so instead of giving them a diagnoses you aren't qualified to give, we should instead kill them with kindness and respect. It's better optically and for your own health.

@@pumarealtor I know its not the subject, but I find owning life to be such a strange concept, buying a living being and then calling it family when we have essentially stripped it of all its natural life. Asserting dominance on less intelligent life, inbreeding them for centuries until we have animals that conform to our will, and then putting a rope around their necks and calling them family. Its so strange to me. Im not implying that you're some horrible animal owner I was just surprised to read that comment in such a genuine tone. I dont think I could convince myself in the same way

I'd say it's easy to persuade someone that it's best to be vegan when that someone is intelligent, open-minded, and has no vested interest in the industry. That said, I admire Earthling Ed for his work and dedication. From what I've seen in his videos, it rarely is as easy as it was in this one.
@Stoic2000
@Stoic2000 2 жыл бұрын
It is Ed’s style of advocacy and activism that makes it look easy. He doesn’t tell people what to think. He guides them as they examine their own thoughts. He meets people where they are and introduces information as and when necessary. Intelligent people will realise relatively quickly that their actions are not necessarily in alignment with their beliefs. Emotionally intelligent people will cope better with the realisation that they have come to this point in their lives with cognitive dissonance preventing them from questioning the status quo and will decide whether they will make a change or not like the man in the video. People who are not emotionally intelligent will lash out make excuses And dig their herms in when they feel their views are challenged but struggle with a counterargument. It is more difficult to do that when you are the one answering the questions.

Start to recognize the complex feelings of meateaters, of yourself in the past of ourselves regarding other violent-ridden consumer activities, learn about our denial. When we face denial, we wake up slowly from the snooze. Over time you will get used to everything, what helped me, after being vegan for nearly a decade is to learn the facts, but never use them in a "1 vs 1" scenario or then just go straight to the basic point, which is, that it is unnecessary and then end the dialogue. Or sometimes just be silent! Silence is golden. People say BS and countering with dead silence is the hardest weapon. It causes unease in the other as no one is fighting back, answering, no one is "rewarding their fight against veganism with a battle". Otherwise just learn the hardest facts, the harshest reality and sprinkle it into convos when it is fitting, the next thing is to wait. I tell people both: the harshest reality and that they can continue to eat meat, the combination hits like fire. No one is forcing them, but they know they are causing he'll, when they continue. Something innit hits like a bullet.

We don’t want to go Vegan because we know that businesses will be affected and in general, we love our steak! So I’m sorry if I offended you but I am what you may call Anti-Vegan
@AncaGo

Slave businesses were also affected when slavery was banned. Businesses were affected when pandemy came, but then other businesses appeared, focusing on the advantages of people working from home etc. businesses have and always be affected by various changes in the society. In any case, I do not expect old people to get on board of this. But young people will go visit a factory farm or simply see movies like Cowspiracy, Dominion and will understand in a bit this. Even a 3 years old kid when sees animals being treated poorly they ask “why do they cry?”. Suffering is visible and young generations with access to early information will make this change without making excuses like “it’s tasty”
@nikosmakris
@nikosmakris 2 жыл бұрын
@@videodan5458 I never mentioned anything about businesses in my comment. Plus i doubt most ‘anti vegans’ don’t want to go vegan because they care too much about the businesses involved in the agriculture business. Most of the times people are just not bothered enough to research and try to change anything in their lifestyles. It’s individuals in combination with society and businesses in general that need to change for the well being of the animals, but also for our environment.
@nikosmakris
@nikosmakris 2 жыл бұрын
@@AncaGo spot on. 3 year olds react on instinct, in a way that a normal person would, when coming across the animal exploitation going on in the animal farming sector. Excellent job (as usual) Ed! You are so gifted at this. One thing I might add, since the point of taste came up more than once in this talk, in terms of why would we deny ourselves a broad ranges of tastes by cutting out animal foods - now that I'm vegan I actually have tasted FAR more of a variety of foods than I ever did when I ate animals. When I ate meat, dairy and eggs, usually my meal focused firstly on some slab of meat, maybe beef, chicken or pork. Sometimes fish. Sometimes eggs were fried, sometimes scrambled. The veggies I ate back then were maybe potatoes, broccoli, corn, tomatoes. That's only a small handful of basic foods. By contrast, in one week I now eat more than 40 different kinds of plants, including grains, some of which I never knew about before going vegan. Einkorn, for example, is DELICIOUS, hearty, versatile and healthy. Not expensive either, costing less per pound than meat. I've tried new fruits, new veggies, new greens, so many new beans and lentils, nuts and seeds, and have loved them all. I've explored new herbs and spices for seasoning. It has been a wonderful, vastly unfolding taste adventure, and I don't miss eating animals at all. For me, going vegan has not at all been about deprivation, and instead has dramatically widened the variety of tasty, healthy, inexpensive foods I regularly eat and love. Thanks for a great talk!
