But at some point it was so cumbersome to have to keep stretching my beliefs around something that is an unneeded hypothesis in the first place. It’s the same with veganism. And so forth. At the end of Ed's discussions it would be 20:0 for Ed. Otherwise it's always the same tedious cycle. Carnist: "Lions also kill zebras." Ed: "Lions don't have moral agency like we do, they're obligate carnivores, while we are not dependent on meat and are intelligent enough to do better". It’s not about how smart an animal is it’s about their experience and if they can feel every emotion, experience pain and are self-aware (which farm animals are) mentally disabled people may have the mental age of a 3-4 year old like a pig does but that doesn’t justify me killing them, and it also doesn’t make my life worth more just because I am smarter or posses more power because worth of life isn’t about power and intellect. Yes, Mr. Winters’ understanding of metaethics is beyond reproach, which explains why he condones the MURDER of poor, innocent humans before they have the opportunity to even see the light of day. 👶 The fact that he repeatedly asserts that “humans are animals” shows what an abject hypocrite is that MURDEROUS sinner. 😩 Furthermore, it is debatable whether Ed is truly vegan in his outlook, since he recently stated on the national television programme, GBNews, that he believes we ought NOT to ban animal agriculture! “I’m not even saying that we should ban meat, dairy and eggs right now”. I've been vegan for nearly 10 years. I'm also a man whose felt and dealt with these feelings of inadequacy, stemming from what Vlad calls "weakness and strength." Now, I will say this -- he is somewhat*** correct, but let me explain first. Veganism, invariably, if you stick with it long enough, it literally causes you to FEEL more. You become more sensitive to life, but do you lose strength? No. You lose aggression. Aggression, most people think, is synonymous with competitiveness, and many people think you need the the first for the other. But that's a fallacy. Being able to feel more (this literally happens as you become cleaner, internally) is sometimes constrated as weakness or feminine. This isn't true, but it certainly seems so based on gender norms and the lies people believe as it relates to masculinity and femininity. In sum, what I'd like to say is this -- when you become vegan, you literally become less competitive and less primal. You become less like a dog -- less primal, and only sex obsessed -- because meat acts like a stimulant in the body, and you absorb this in the blood stream. But when you go vegan, you're not spayed and gentle -- you just change. You lose interest in stupid ass shit like making money and keeping up with jones, and more concerned and connected with life. Could I still go to war? Sure. Could I fight if someone touched my girl? Sure. The argument that skipping meat and dairy-- both toxic substances -- destabilizes mankind and makes humans less is backed by nothing but fear. Does cocaine make you more alert? Does drinking coffee make you perform better on exams? Does viagra allow you to have better sex? Sure, but there is consequences associated..

It's depressing how many times debaters here say "me me me me" "I'm okay with...". "I feel..". People don't base their arguments on scientific facts but on their feelings about what is acceptable or not 'for them' (instead of at least trying to put themselves in another animal's shoes and change their ethical stance accordingly). This can be a very dangerous way to think/do philosophy, and putting aside how egocentric this way of thinking is, it has allowed horrible things to happen in human history. Also, this 'bloodlust' thing is just BS when it comes to humans. We're obviously not carnivores, we don't have an instinct to kill, we don't salivate when seeing blood etc..

These interviews are really fascinating. Social media has created very shallow debates about issues like veganism vs meat eating, but interviews such as these give a very deep insight into the psychology of dietary choices. I'm in minute 22 and I wouldn't be surprised if what Vladimir has said about the psychic effects of meat eating (apparently from research on fasting in the Orthodox Church) is true. In my case, moving towards a whole plant based diet has certainly changed my personality; I'm much calmer, understanding, much less prone to feelings of anger or competitiveness. The question is really if those feelings of "bloodlust" are at all necessary in society, at least in times of peace.

When he said he feels that when we eat something we take on its traits so that we can use those to our advantage, he was somewhat on the right track. But the truth in that situation is actually that animal flesh, especially that which is derived in the essence of fear or harsh conditions, then feeds our bodies with fear which causes us more of that internal fear and it propels us to be on the defense. That’s why people end up doing it. It’s not because they are brave but because they’re feeling like they need to defend themselves. That comes down to if they have a strong mind at that point. I learned this from very old Native Americans who are very close with spirit animals, beings and spiritual energies. I too can speak with spirit at Will and can teach it.. anyway, this isn’t about what I can do for humanity. People are too afraid to listen to me when they see that what I’m saying is true. At this point in time, these so called brainy college kids really need to try harder to understand what they’re talking about. That’s when they’ll see how fouled up they really are.

But hearing "finding your wife with another man and shooting them both" framed as a different from premeditated violence is horrific to me. The idea of the "crime of passion" as impulsive, spur-of-the moment and not premeditated is a *myth* that misrepresents what the majority of intimate partner violence is like. One of the most incoherent, irrational and self-contradictory defence of animal exploitation I have ever heard. Wonder if I too, ever, sounded this incoherent. Probably, sadly, but then I grew rationally and morally. And yeah, respect has to do with not infringing on someones interests without very good reason to do so (self-preservation, being one). Respect does NOT mean: -to be aware of harming others, feel bad about it, but do it anyway. -to feel grateful while harming someone. - to tolerate someones violent ideology, and refuse to challange it. An ideology is not a person with interests.

Love these videos! I'm muslim and the religious argument of 'humans having dominion' was mis-used. When you have dominion, you are a care-taker, you have stewardship and that is all about acting with responsibility, care and consideration rather than irresponsibly with arrogance or tyranny. The earth is a place for all the creatures of God, and we should respect the sanctity of life and be humble.

@@NermineNaThat point leads me to believe that if the "divine" texts truly were divine, they would certainly not be as open to misinterpretation as they are. A big issue is that people LOVE to isolate a verse, then attribute their own arbitrary meaning to it. Isolating a passage like that in ANY other story would make you look illiterate, like you don't understand context, yet we find ourselves with most people giving their own arbitrary meanings to scripture in this way.
