Thank you! I grew up in New York and used to remember my mom buying this for us to eat from the deli . It didn't have meat inside the knish, but she would get scrambled eggs and sausage to have with it. I am definitely going to make this.

Hello Nicole from New York! Most knishes are made with potato filling. I'm glad that you found my recipe. My grandfather taught it to my mom and now I do it I hope you love it have a fantastic day

Gotta try this recipe. By the way, I use mashed potatoes when I make my potato donuts. They taste just like Tim Horton's old fashioned donuts.
@lauraskitchen57063 жыл бұрын
Mashed potatoes in donuts?? I'm intrigued. You mean like a sour cream glazed??? I'd love to try one!!
@margaretchretien86733 жыл бұрын
@@lauraskitchen5706 No, just like the plain old fashioned donuts. My recipe call for 2 cups mashed potatoes when making the dough. So good. I make them every Christmas and usually make about 5 or 6 dozen. When I do them, I'll bring you a dozen. Was my M-I-L's recipe. Usually make them about the same time I make my tortiere for Christmas.

How can I get these knish’s I have not had these in 40 years. I loved these and In Philadelphia I can’t find where they are made with meat...
@lauraskitchen57063 жыл бұрын
Hi Garrin!! My grandpa made them this way so he taught my mom and she taught me! I live in Toronto Canada so I don't know where in Philadelphia ( super cool) you can get them😭

This is another Dutch recipe, isn't it? hahahahaha! I didn't even have to look it up. I was just DRAWN to it. Your hands will never freak me out. hahaha I have never gone out of my way to be a fan of everything Dutch...but somehow, it still works it's way into my life. It's the weirdest thing!

Fooled you! This is actually a Jewish dish. My father is a Russian Jew. I have hands that can palm a basket ball. Lol.

I have been disappointed by a knish more than once - although your filling is different, the potato dough is right on for me! My mother would fill them with whatever leftover meat we had from the night before, some times minced veggies right along with the meat too! I am loving your cooking style! Thank you for sharing! Do you make pasties and pierogi also?
@lauraskitchen57063 жыл бұрын
Hi Lorri! Thank you so much for watching. I definitely cook like my mom did😊. I do make pierogies. I will have to put that on the list if you like. Hope to chat with you again 😘

Don't know why this popped up on my feed. But I can tell you, your Zaidy Moish would never, ever serve a meat knish with a dollop of sour cream or anything milchig on the side.
