I saw meat 3 nights on the trot - 2 at the brighton centre & wembly arena when this was filmed, I have always thought this is the greatest tour meat ever performed. its a shame they edited it so highly.. read em & weep & more than you deserve were superb... & this video has a brilliant intro to all revved up & the best live recorded version of Bat

I heard an interview with Meat recently where he said the reason the vocals were so high-pitched on “Bat Out of Hell” was because they had to speed it up to fit on an LP record. It’s nice to hear they downtuned for this concert so he could hit the notes. Nice to see too that this was apparently the “Dead Ringer” tour. I agree with other commenters: A severely under-rated, overlooked album. Love you, Meat. Sorry you’re ailing.

The only male singer who can make feel so much emotion..dude can make me cry with his powerful voice. I was in junior high in 1978. Had no clue who Meat Loaf was . I was working on a speech for class one night that was due to be presented in class the next day. I had procrastinated for weeks to have it done, and this particular night was my last and final night to have it all written and fully memorized for english class the following morning first class. I was pressed for time and stressed out. I had the tv on that night, and this tv special came on. It was Meat Loaf BAT OUT OF HELL. I was like who the hell is this. I was taken in instantly. I am watching / listening to this tv special and trying to get my speech done. The the song PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT CAME ON..Meat Loaf was simulating making out with his female back up singer. I popped a boner like you would not believe. I am fixated on what I was seeing and hearing on the tv, the moaning and groaning of the two performers, and me trying to get my speech done, I had a hard on and was horny as hell. Way too much for a 14 yr old kid. Needless to say I got my speech done, went to bed, and wacked off...

@somecolbyguy18336 жыл бұрын
A bit off-key, but seriously...who really gives a fuck? Tremendous performance. Heart and soul thrown 100% into the performance. Huh...It's almost like he was saying "This is me, what I do, and how I do it. Don't like it? I don't care." If only that attitude could have transcended the decades into more musicians. Regardless, he's a legend, and always will be. Which is (imo) well-earned, and well-deserved :)

Hey I'm a big Meat Loaf fan but guys he was so off key for most of the concert. One thing I love about him, though, is that he puts all of himself into his vocals. History of Meat Loaf Live was much better! He's older in that concert but looks better and healthier and sounds more like himself.
@xyzvision8 жыл бұрын
+R. Huggins I agree. He starts off Bat out of Hell quietly as if he's nervous about finding his key! Same in other live shows too. Often he's off key by the last note of each line. I would have hated being his back up singer. What a chore.

I guess when people say Meat was awesome live that all must have been listening to studio recordings in their ears, coz they certainly can't see saying about his actual voice in any concert he performed in. The man simply can't sing worth a damn

I am disappointed. The bands sounds good, but Meat Loaf is out of breath since the first song and can barely sing. He was no good as a live singer. The backup singer make him sound better here too, though.
