what kind of sides are usually served with this?

dpyt normally with bread for dipping in the sauce, but you can also serve it with some white rice. When I cook a big bunch of them and I have some left, I cook pasta and add the broken meatballs with tomato as the sauce.

Never put nutmeg in “albondigas”. This is not a Spanish taste.

Thanks for your comment. I don't think you can claim that a certain spice or ingredient is not Spanish taste, since recipes and "taste" varies so broadly throughout the country. Nutmeg is definitely a Spanish taste in my region, and if you like it, you might give it a try! I think it matches very well the meat flavour. Best!
