If you workout as a vegan how do you get your protein?
@GaryLuKOTHАй бұрын
Simple. Soy, nuts, grains, seeds, etc. are packed with protein. Yes, animal protein has more amino acids, but don’t need to slaughter animals just for those amino acids. You just need the 9 essential amino acids, which are all available in plants. Not to mention that the reason the animal has protein is that they get it from eating plants, so protein is definitely available.

I feel like it would have to be fried before it was skewered to get it to stick. Sounds like a kitchen experiment to me! Personally, I’d use potato, par-boiled then soaked in the marinade. Not as nutritious, but potato is a champ at taking whatever flavor you offer it, and at staying when you skewer it on a stick.

As a non vegan, recipes look so good, and I’m always interested but wary because veggies and mushrooms seem to be largely water by mass (80-90% vs 75 for meat) and thus insubstantial. A lot of meals seem to be heavily marinated which makes me worry they’d be too salty or overseasoned. The limited experience I’ve had with vegan meals have been disappointing. Are these concerns substantiated or overblown?
@MahouShoujoAutumnАй бұрын
Before someone replies about tofu, I enjoy tofu well; my partner can’t digest very much tofu though. I’m asking bc I’d love to curb our meat consumption for environmental and budget reasons, but they have a hard time eating a lot of food. They need to gain weight, not lose it.
@OnlyTASАй бұрын
Why is it a problem to add less salt and evaporate more water? Seems like skill issue Also use peanut butter to gain weight. Noodle sauce, energy bites, bread spread
@MahouShoujoAutumnАй бұрын
@@OnlyTAS I’m asking largely bc I like mushrooms but mostly do them as sides; every main I’ve been served (not cooked) has been disappointing. Main way I’ve cooked mushrooms is braising, which, yknow. Liquid. Peanut butter has been insufficient... Believe me, we’ve tried a lot!

Hey I don’t want to upset anyone ok? But can you tell me why your vegan, and not vegetarian. because taking eggs from chickens, honey from bees, and milk from cows, doesn’t hurt them at all. bees don’t use honey to survive, honey is like a side product that they create, the milk taken from cows is the extra, that in a lot of cases needs to be taken or else the cow can get things like milk fever and more. and eggs from chickens are taken from hens that don’t nest, they lay eggs leave them the eggs get cold and can’t hatch anymore. I’m just curious don’t mean to upset You sorry.
@OnlyTASАй бұрын
Google it then? Many bees are stuck and killed when taking the honey, milk cows are impregnated and their male child killed, male chicks are thrown into grinder etc.
@GaryLuKOTHАй бұрын
At least you’re asking in good faith. Most people ask as a means of insulting. But to summarize, actually, in the dairy industry, separating calves from mothers to prevent them from drinking the milk the farmers wish to sell is standard practice. So is culling chicks in the egg industry who could never lay eggs. Aside from that, there are other ethical issues with keeping an animal just for their products. For instance, how do you afford to keep them alive after they stop being able to produce these food products? For most industries, the answer is than they don’t keep them alive. They’re no longer useful for them, so they’re slaughtered.
@just-a-pancake07Ай бұрын

Perhaps you need to meet some more vegans! The loud ones are assholes. We all agree. But if you get past them, the community is generally pretty accepting.
@nuyabeАй бұрын
How come you’re vegan and not vegetarian? It’s not like milking cows or shaving sheep harm them. In fact shearing sheep can massively help
@GaryLuKOTHАй бұрын
That’s actually a common misconception. Yes, the shearing itself doesn’t harm sheep, but the reason they need to be sheared is that the wool industry breeds sheep to have excess wool. But dairy and eggs are bigger concerns. Pictures of factory farms would show painful milking machines. Aside from that, the reason cows need to be milked is that they are forcefully impregnated (cows need to be pregnant to produce milk just like how humans do), and calves are typically separated from their mothers so that the farmers could extract the most milk possible without wasting it on the calves. And even without the standard inhumane practices of factory farms, there are still other questions of how they make producing their products profitable, like how do they afford to keep the animals alive after they become infertile or unable to produce these products? The most likely answer is that they don’t keep them alive, but instead slaughter them for cheaper meat.
@nuyabeАй бұрын
@@GaryLuKOTH then buy locally produced milk, personally my family who arent vegans buy our milk from a local farmers market and either pasteurize it ourselves or buy it pasteurized, youre looking at mass produced industrial farms when even while living in a bigger city its not that hard to find locally made milk from cows which are free range, my cousins own one such farm.
